So what do you all eat when you are fasting? I am having a difficult time cutting out meat and cheese. I can manage to do without the meat, but I didn't realize how much cheese and yogurt played into my life. Any tips?

mylordwon answered Wednesday August 18 2004, 9:39 pm: First, you need to understand what fasting is and the reason someone fasts. Fasting means to go without food so when the body is in a place of weakness the person's spirit can commune with God. It is an intimate, special, very important time with God. Something that is not to be taken lightly. As a Born Again Christian, I fast when I am seeking God in prayer about a direction I need to go or when I am praying for someone else that requires special attention. If it is in your heart to fast because you want to commune with God, then go for it. The Bible says to wash your face and comb your hair so that no one knows you are fasting. This is something between you and God, no one else. So, if you truly want to fast, forget the cheese and everything else and commune with God.
Just for a side note, the word breakfast comes from the concept "to break the fast". That's why we eat breakfast in the morning - to break the fast of not eating all night. [ mylordwon's advice column | Ask mylordwon A Question ]

Maybe you could make a veggie tray with carrots, broccoli, and celery then get some low fat dip to dip them in. [ shreddedwheat's advice column | Ask shreddedwheat A Question ]
