Fasting So what do you all eat when you are fasting? I am having a difficult time cutting out meat and cheese. I can manage to do without the meat, but I didn't realize how much cheese and yogurt played into my life. Any tips?

I am assuming that you are fasting for religeous purposes. My personal belief is that you can fast from anything. It doesn't have to be food. Like for example, if you watch Young and the Restless every day, then instead of watching the show during that time. Pray.

ok, perrrsoooon!!! wake up! i don't know if It's just in my religion, but in my religion (a form of Christianity), when you fast is the first sunday of every month, and you don't eat anything until after church....but that's just me.. ]
I am Christian, so we eat a lot of fish and...well, I guess you can't eat pizza if you can't eat cheese. You could try fruits and vegetables, though. ]

First, you need to understand what fasting is and the reason someone fasts. Fasting means to go without food so when the body is in a place of weakness the person's spirit can commune with God. It is an intimate, special, very important time with God. Something that is not to be taken lightly. As a Born Again Christian, I fast when I am seeking God in prayer about a direction I need to go or when I am praying for someone else that requires special attention. If it is in your heart to fast because you want to commune with God, then go for it. The Bible says to wash your face and comb your hair so that no one knows you are fasting. This is something between you and God, no one else. So, if you truly want to fast, forget the cheese and everything else and commune with God.
Just for a side note, the word breakfast comes from the concept "to break the fast". That's why we eat breakfast in the morning - to break the fast of not eating all night. ]
try more fruits a veggies, you could make a delicious fruit salad with bananas, strawberries and melons. Maybe you could make a veggie tray with carrots, broccoli, and celery then get some low fat dip to dip them in. ]
If you're "fasting," you shouldn't be eating anything at all. However, it's not a good way to lose weight, if that's what you're trying to do. ]
nuts are where alot of vegetarians get their protiens. so you couldeat those. and i hear sucking on ice cuts back on cravings. ]
you can try to eat things such as tofu. rather than just eating a hunk of tofu plain, you can do a lot with it. you can make a tofu burger, or you can go get a veggie burger or gardenburger and just not put cheese on them. i don't personally fast, but i've read articles about ways to use soy and tofu as regular foods. ]
