My parents both smoke... i dont like it at all and i know its killing the both the both of them! I dont want them to die and i dont want my lungs to suffer from it.. what can i do to tell them that they need to stop! I rate high.. please help me!

You should set both of them down and tell them what you think. Tell them how worried you are about their health and even yours! Tell them to do it for you maybe that will give them a motive! My mom smokes and I told her when I were to move my apt was going to be a SMOKE FREE area! Even if your parents dont listen just keep in mind that when you move it will be your rules!! You wont have to live with all the disgust! I hope it works out cuz i know how gross smoke is. It even turns you wall colors to yellow instead of white!

Tell them that you HATE that they smoke and that its SO bad for them!! Tell them how badly you want them to stop smoking... Also, ask them to smoke outside or away from you because you can get second hand smoking from that to and its not good for you at all!! GOOD LUCK

just tell them how u feel about them smoking nd give them ideas about how they could quit, nd if they say they cant quit cuz sum people r too addicted some times just ask them to smoke outside and away from u

i know how u feel ....my dad is in a life threatning stage too...but u gotta tell them that there smoking effects u, and tell them how frightend and concerned u are..if they know how much this smoking has effected u they will stop.

I totally understand what your going through! both of my parents smoke to. Say you need to talk to both of them. Then come straight out with it.Tell them they need to stop smoking because your concerned about their health and your health.Maybe work out a plan to get them to stop smokin less and less each day till they get down to where they dont smoke at all anymore. Honestly? If you make them think that you've started smoking maybe they'll realize that they are setting a bad example and stop.
Or just tell them to stop, leave printouts of truth ads and such around your house.

by coughing etc when they smoke... try and make it seem real. and if you can talk to them. tell them that you dont wunna get sick cuz they smoke and you dont want them to get hurt. hope i helped. <3 xogiggles37xo.

Well, they both know the side effects already because people have probably told them. Tell them you want them to stop because you want your parents to live up to your wedding day or something like that. Tell them you'll help them. When my aunt smoked I hid all of her cigarettes in the draw of my dresser, sometimes I even flushed them down the toilet ( I wouldn't reccomend that lol) She got the hint and tried to stop with that patch. I feel the same way! But, there is like a 90% chance that they won't stop. But, you can give them literature (facts) to read and tell them how you feel that you love them and try to stay out of the area that they are smoking in! Good luck...XoXo, HaY

Ah. My mom smokes as well, and I absolutely hate it because it gives me headaches and what not. However, your parents are adults and grown people. They can make their decisions whether or not if they want to smoke. Although, YOU shouldn't be the one to suffer from it. I think you should just talk to both of them and tell them how you feel. Tell them that it's hurting you knowing that it's smoking is putting all of ya'lls life in danger. And if they're gonna HAVE to smoke; to not do it around you. Hope I helped a bit. :] Good luck, hun.

My grandmother recently died do to a disease she got from smoking and it put so much stress on my whole family, plus my older brother, mother, and most of my aunts and uncles all smoke so I know where your coming from
My advice is really talk to them. You see all those commercials on TV telling parents to talk to there kids, but you can talk to them too. Explain that you love them very much and your concerned for their health and that youd hate for anything to happen to them. Even doing a bit of research might help, diseases smoking can lead to etc
They will listen to you and im sure atleast try if they see how much it means to you

hey hun im sorry to here your parents smoke cause ive lost many loved ones that way..just be honest with them nd tell them it kills you to see them smoking because you know its hurting them AND you..second hand smoke is awful! just be honest and talk to them..QUICK! hope i helped! xox

i just answered this same question 2 seconds ago lol. but ok my dad is a non stop smoker n i have gotten sooo sick so many times from it. ive taken his ciggaretts n watered them n told him that hes killing himself and all that stuff. but he doesnt listen. he knows its bad but he doesnt listen. i tried soo hard to talk to him about it because like cancer runs very high in my family. the only thing u can do is talk to them n tell them how u feel. but in the end they are the only people that can stop themselves.

A lot of the time when parents smoke, they've been doing it for a long time and aren't partial to stopping. However, it's good that you're concerned about their health and definitely about yours. Secondhand smoke is very dangerous. I think you should tell them what you think. Make sure they know exactly what it's doing to them and what it could possibly do to you. You can back it up with info from the internet. If they see how concerned they are, they should think twice. Also, you could find some other things on the web about tips on quitting smoking and how to go about doing it. Again, if they see that you're really worrying and that you're even trying to help, it should have an impact on the way they think.
