TheAllKnowingJanelle answered Friday August 13 2004, 4:19 am: for your first question. I feel the same way at night sometimes too. What gets me relaxed is to play fast, lively, music with good lyrics, quietly so I can sleep, but still feel relaxed because the music isnt naturally quiet (which makes you feel more creeped out due to the silence) but more relaxed and not having worries. Sometimes it helps to sleep with the TV on, even if it's an Infomercial, the sound of someones voice talking about something in the background is more relaxing than the tension of silence.
for your second question. I try to get my mind off of it, and think about other happier things, or things that happened during my day, and after a while I get tired and fall asleep and the bad dream is gone. [ TheAllKnowingJanelle's advice column | Ask TheAllKnowingJanelle A Question ]
TucanFullOfHoles answered Thursday August 12 2004, 10:05 am: ok that stuff happens to me all the time, like last night . . .
listen to your favorite (quiet) cd or song even over and over and over again until you fall asleep. ok headbanger music will not work, and neither will anything with a lively beat. read for a while too, or watch tv when you get scared. aNgeLxfOrEvEr answered Tuesday August 10 2004, 1:08 pm: I have the same problem sometimes, but it's just that I can't fall asleep (no murderers or anything). But, what helps me to fall asleep, is to either watch tv and put the timer on so I can fall asleep with it, listen to the radio or cd player, or read a book. Reading a book really helps me because when you read late at night, your eyes begin to get tired and you'll fall asleep easier. Just make sure it's a happy book ;)
girdy_goo15 answered Friday August 6 2004, 8:24 pm: this may sound stupid but you should see a therapist. there is obviously something wrong consciously or subconsciously. you should go. and then after that then you should be able to sleep beter. chaos answered Friday August 6 2004, 11:51 am: The TV works sometimes, but every once in a while there is a interesting show that I just HAVE to watch. My boyfriend uses his discman. Be sure that you haven't eaten too close to bed, and a nice hot bath helps to calm my nerves sometimes.
You could think of a phrase of music or spoken word that you can repeat over and over again until you fall asleep. I also like lighting some incense occasionally and smelling it helps you breathe deeper and more relaxing breaths. [ chaos's advice column | Ask chaos A Question ]

BeezKneez answered Friday August 6 2004, 12:18 am: One thing my mom always told me when I was younger was, "think about happy things, like rainbows." Well, if I ever hav ea prob like that, I'm not thinkin about rainbows, but about something fun that happened that day or week, or sumtime in the past. Another thing u can try is falling asleep 2 music, that way u'll hear the music rather than all the house creaks and wut not. Try those, or even just get sumthin 2 hold on2 like a stuffed animal, that way 2 can squeeze it whenever u freak a lil bit. If u don't wanna seem childish, use sumthin like a pillow instead that u can just hug. Hope I helped! [ BeezKneez's advice column | Ask BeezKneez A Question ]
lilprpchick07 answered Friday August 6 2004, 12:09 am: i have the same problem lol i am 15 and still afraid of the dark! lol so what i like to do is when i go to sleep i put the cover over my head and that helps me relax i get scared because when i open my eyes in the dark i see dark figures that look like one thing but turn out to be a completely different things! lol i also leave the radio on low so i won't hear strange noises, i even sometimes leave the tv on for light and to block out the noises.
i hoped this helped you and i hope you can fix ur problem. o and to get the bad thoughts out of your head u can try and watch a funny show or movie right b4 bed that always helps me!

raushelle answered Friday August 6 2004, 12:01 am: I use to have the same problem. What helps me is I would say to my self, ok my dogs will hear them and bark. or, my daddy will come to my rescue (lol). And then like i would try sleeping with my tv on but that doesnt help. i remember just thinking alright now i cant hear them when they break in. You just gotta trust that no one will do that (i know it seems pointless) but i dont think that theres anything that you could do. The only thing that helped me was my dogs lol.
