Here-To-Help answered Monday January 12 2004, 1:42 pm: I'm not trying to be harsh...but from the way your spelling it seems like you at least need a reading and english tutor.
This DOES NOT mean you're stupid. People learn different ways.
Get a tutor if you feel you have to. [ Here-To-Help's advice column | Ask Here-To-Help A Question ]
fyre answered Wednesday December 31 2003, 7:14 am: To make you feel a bit better about the whole tutor thing.. I'm 26, in college, and still getting tutored in maths.
xbrokentearsx answered Wednesday December 24 2003, 2:31 am: I say listen to your grandma and get a tutor. Yes you may feel embarassed at first but trust me; it can do nothing but help you in the long run. Tutors help reinforce what you've already learned and they make sure you know the material. I recently sought out a tutor for Algebra and although I have yet to go to her,I am secure in the knowledge that I am taking the right step in succeding.
hope I've helped. [ xbrokentearsx's advice column | Ask xbrokentearsx A Question ]
Deanimal answered Sunday December 21 2003, 3:32 pm: Yes get one. There's nothing to be ashamed of. LOTS of people get tutors for math. Even really smart people. Math just bugs like 40% of the population (that's two fifths, by the way ;). [ Deanimal's advice column | Ask Deanimal A Question ]
metawidget answered Tuesday December 9 2003, 1:57 pm: Working as a tutor/helper/troubleshooter, I've got a little conflict of interest here, but some very smart people stay ahead of the pack by bringing in a tutor when they know they need one.
One of the smartest guys I know often refers proudly to his "informants" who explain stuff in disciplines he doesn't understand so well to him. Once he gets a leg up, he's generally comfortable learning the rest on his own.
actualtruths answered Tuesday December 9 2003, 9:48 am: Well, I was like you too. I was terrible in math and it really was affecting my standard in class. So my mother pestered me to get a tutor. Ultimately I agreed, just to get her off my back.
So I was stuck there nervously waiting for my tutor. I had this idea, an image of a terrible oaf who would boss me around. Punish me when I made mistake, embarress me coz I don't know things I should.
At first I was really quiet, but later on I realised that my tutor was actually a very nice person who really didn't treat me like a total idiot. In the end, I got my A in math. From a failing grade to an A, I was astonished. But I realised that with the help of a tutor, I was motivated to learn.
so, really not all tutors are a nightmare. ask your grandma to interwiew some tutors with you and pick one that isn't going to make you feel stupid.
I wish you all the best and I really hope that you will have the same good experiences that I have had.
Trueflight answered Monday December 8 2003, 5:19 pm: Tutors are a good thing. My grandmother tutors as a job. There is absolutely NOTHING stupid about having a tutor. (have you ever heard the saying, "the only stupid question is the one left unasked"? This is something like that). [ Trueflight's advice column | Ask Trueflight A Question ]
SweetSolaris answered Saturday December 6 2003, 6:32 pm: Well, if you do get a tutor, your grandma would be happy and stop bugging you. And you should not feel stupid because you need help. I mean Einstein asked his wife for help, and he's the most famous math guy you hear about. Anyway, I definitely think you should get a tutor, you'll get help and hopefully feel better about going to math class everyday. What you learn now may help you in the future.

orphans answered Saturday December 6 2003, 4:44 pm: I personally think that you should. 7th grade math can be really hard. Maybe you should stay after school one day and ask your teacher for help. (or go to school really early.) I think that you'll be much happier if you pass the 7th grade and feel stupid than if you failed it and feel even stupider. (is that a word?) indie07 answered Saturday December 6 2003, 3:05 pm: Don't feel stupid! I'm a freshman in high school and I even have trouble in math. I don't have any problem going down to my algebra teacher's room during study hall and grabbing some extra time. I was failing algebra and I started going to tutoring, it was no big deal. In fact, once you understand the problems and stuff you are trying to do, it makes you feel even smarter. I think you should listen to your grandmother. Tutoring isn't for stupid kids at all. Tons of people do it. [ indie07's advice column | Ask indie07 A Question ]
Joshua answered Saturday December 6 2003, 12:27 am: There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with getting a little extra help with a difficult subject. The idea of having to work out an algebra problem can make adults run quicker than a child about to step in a busy street. So, don't be ashamed of having someone help you.
But, it seems that there is a lot more going on than math problems. Just remember that grandma's may not always know what goes on in the world, and can be difficult at times, but they always want the best. [ Joshua's advice column | Ask Joshua A Question ]
shay*shay answered Friday December 5 2003, 11:05 pm: You should definetly get a tutor. A good education comes mostley from those kind of people. Do what your grandmother says. Its the right thing to do.
