How to make fine hair keep a curl (which styling products?)

Posted Thursday June 4 2009, 12:03 am

I have very healthy but fine hair. When I was younger and bleached my hair a lot I had no trouble curling my hair with a curling iron. Now it just falls flat after I try to curl it. So, I bought the Vidal Sassoon Answers curling iron for fine hair and it works really well but after a while the curls begin to fall. I want to wear my hair curly for my wedding so I want to know if there are any good styling products for fine hair to help it keep the curl for a good while.

What is the best foundation for combination skin?

Posted Wednesday June 3 2009, 11:58 pm

I have combination skin...oily some days butdry some other days. I've gotten the dry half a little under control thanks to a really good moisturizer, but sometimes my face is a little oily and I have troubles with foundation now. I've tried all types, liquids, powders and mousse kinds. I feel liquids are always too heavy, powders don't cover properly, and mousses seem to get absorbed into my skin and I look just like I've never put make up on.

I'm looking for a light foundation with pretty good coverage, but my main request if for something that LASTS. I feel like any make up I put on just disappears within a few hours and I'm back to looking like poo. haha Thanks for the help!

How do I get a good tan in a week?

Posted Wednesday June 3 2009, 11:46 pm

All of my friends are at the beach now without me, again (for the 3rd year in a row because I'm grounded again). I want to look good when they get back, as in I want a really nice tan. What is the best way to get a tan? I don't want tanning spray and lotions unless they're really good and look natural. Just how do I get a good tan in a week? And will it look natural or can that not be possible?

Will Stephenie Meyer actually finish writing Midnight Sun?

Posted Wednesday June 3 2009, 11:14 pm

At my school, a famous author came to visit us. My friends saw her talk about various books and authors that she knew well. They told me she was friends with Stephenie Meyer (author Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn) and that she (Stephenie Meyer) will continue working on the Twilight series (as she currently is, according to this author). Some months ago though parts of Midnight Sun had leaked out and she said she was not going to write any more on that book in the Twilight series?! Do you think Stephenie Meyer is actually going to do it or do you think the author that came to the school didn't know what she was talking about?

P.S. I didn't want to put the actual author's name in this just in case the informati...

It is 68 outside and 78 in here. Yet I have all the windows open and a fan going (I have no ceiling fans though). I don't understand why it is 10 degrees different outside.

I'm in a 2 bedroom apartment, what can I do to draw cold air in? Thanks.

How unsafe is it to breathe in or touch polyurethane wood varnish?

Posted Wednesday June 3 2009, 10:51 pm

I used some in woodshop class...yesterday I had to apply the stuff in an enclosed space (the door was open, but the room was very small), so I had to breathe some of the varnish vapors. (I worked for about half an hour that time) Some of the stuff also got on me when my latex gloves broke twice, allowing the stuff to get on my fingers.

So, is there any lasting health concerns resulting from either accidentally breathing in polyurethane varnish vapors for half an hour, or getting into contact with liquid polyurethane? Thanks a lot.

Did working retail ruin my life?

Posted Wednesday June 3 2009, 10:48 pm

So after working 6 months of 9 hour days on my feet...
I have lower back pain so bad it takes my breath away. My muscles are super tense and wound up all of the time. My lower back appears swollen, and when my boyfriend gives me a back massage in that area it creaks and cracks under his hands a lot?!
I'm taking 4/6 extra strength Tylenol a day just to get by now. (For the past 2 weeks)
Do you think I should I see a doctor?
I'm looking for some advice on back pain, remedies etc as well.

Is it normal for female cats to gain weight after they have been spayed?

Posted Wednesday June 3 2009, 10:43 pm

My 9 month old Maine Coon cat was spayed last week. Her operation went well and her cut on her belly is healing just fine; however, I have noticed that now after a week she is getting a little pot belly/lump right under the incision on her belly. Is this normal? Has this ever happened to anybody's cat after they were spayed?

Looking for a new gun to buy...

Posted Wednesday June 3 2009, 10:40 pm

My dad is big into hunting. He really loves to go hunting deer, elk, moose, anything! Anyway, when he buys a gun, the entire family kind of gives our input about it before he actually makes a decision. He says he's looking at:

a steven model 200 by savage arms
300 win mag
$399.99

I haven't gotten to talk to him much about what sort of gun this is compared to his others but...is it worth the money and all of that? Anyone know how to find out or anything?

I just graduated from college; how can I make myself more qualified to work

Posted Wednesday June 3 2009, 10:34 pm

I have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, and maybe it's just my lack of confidence, but if I look at a list of tech related job descriptions I feel like I'm not qualified for almost all of them. What should I do to improve my confidence in my abilities? It seems like my degree isn't enough and it makes me nervous to see these jobs and their requirements. In other words, what did you do when you graduated? I mean, how did you transition from school and learning to actually working? Also, how do you know what kinds of jobs you should be applying for? I feel like I'm missing something big...

How to reduce cholesterol naturally

Posted Wednesday June 3 2009, 10:31 pm

I went to the doctor and they said I had high cholesterol and so I have been trying to lower my cholesterol so I don't have to be on prescriptions.
So far I have been exercising every day, eating oatmeal with flaxseed, walnuts, almonds, and cinnamon every day. I eat fresh fruits and veggies every day, have no more white bread (whole wheat now), drink no more soda (and NO artificial sweeteners either), eat no meat, except occasionally a little fish. I don't eat any junk food really, and I drink water, orange juice and pure carrot juice every day. I don't want to take supplements but am considering it. So, what else can I do or should I be doing to lower cholesterol naturally without medication? Thanks for any advice !
