Q: i really want white, and i mean sparkling white teeth!! i've used crest whitening stips, i've used the whitening trays, i have the crest white mouthwash, i brush my teeth twice a day and floss about three times a week. i don't drink coffee, rarely drink pop. so why are my teeth not getting any whiter? if i do drink pop, its like mountain dew, orange or sprite. i heard that only dark pop stains your teeth, is this true? i drink alot of water, juiceboxes, some orange juice, and flavored water would any of these stain my teeth? i'm just getting really annoyed because i don't know whats going on. can someone give me some examples of things that would stain your teeth, or tips to make my teeth whiter without getting them profesionally? thank you so much :)

Fluoride in the water supply will discolor teeth. When I was growing up we lived in a city that fluoridated the water supply. I have yellow stained teeth. I did a google on "does fluoride stain teeth". There were some very interesting articles. Don't know how to whiten them. Hope this gives you a place to start!

Q: so i want to go on a diet, im in pretty good shape right now but the problem is instead of getting leaner, my muscles get bulkier. I heard that if you eat less meat and more vegetable and such it will help make your muscles small while still being strong and eating healthy.

Weight training and high protein diets will build muscle mass while the same diet and aerobics will keep you leaner. Just substitute some of the protein with fruits and veggies. Burning calories is the same whatever you eat. How much leftover energy you have after you exercise is what you want to watch for. If you are completely exhausted after you exercise, then raise you good calorie intake. If you start gaining weight cut your calories down moderately. Either way don't starve yourself. More repetitions of smaller weights will really lean your muscles out and increase your endurance thus allowing you to exercise longer further leaning your muscles. Endurance training and weight training both consume calories but with different results.

If there is a particular reason you want to be called a true vegetarian then you might have a problem. If you want the nutritional benefits from the vegan viewpoint then it really doesn't matter how much "wrong" stuff you eat. You will still be healthier than most. Q: Ok. I'm 14 year old girl and i'm going into highschool this year. I'm over weight, (Trust me, I know i'm over weight. I'm NOT one of those girls who are really skinny, or normal and say they're fat. My doctor even says to lay off the food because of my cholesterol, and weight. Even my parents agree.) But that should'nt matter because of course, they should like you for who you are, not your apperance. Am I right? And, if it does or does'nt, does anyone have any good tips for the pounds to start lowering? I am really, REALLY bad at diets. The longest i've ever stayed on a diet was for a week. Let me say up front that you should be accepted the way you are. Not all people are the same size. But from a health stand point poor health and poor nutrition go hand in hand. For the past 10 years I have been studying the effects of diet and health and to a great extent we become what we eat. Our body gets out of whack not so much as how much we eat but what we eat. Here's an example. If you were to eat 40 lbs of celery a day for a year you would most likely starve to death. On the other hand if you were to eat only 1 lb of hot dogs a day for a year you most likely would have some serious health risks. What you need is a balance. I know for a fact if you were to eat all the fresh fruits and vegetables you wanted and you were to be active the way a person your age should be you would be healthier, even more active, and you would naturally lose weight. Q: Do you think i have to worry about eating a fattening food if it has twice as much protein then it does fat?
For example, I ate a Smokehouse Turkey sandwich at Panera Bread. It has 28g fats, 54g protein, and 790 calories. I know your body burns off more calories while digesting protein, and I also burn about 555 calories during exercise every night.
Would the fat and the protein all balance out?

Fat is fat. You need good fats but meat fat is not that good. Some is good and necessary. A good protein source is also important. Anemia can be caused from not eating enough red meat. I've been on a diet for three days now and I'm finding it really hard. I have a huge sweet tooth and I just love cakes and chocolate and lollies.
I eat enough and I'm not hungry after I eat but I really really have huge cravings for something sweet all the time and I can't stop it. It's really bad. What can I do to stop myself eating bad things? All I want is the taste of something sweet in my mouth.
Exercise doesn't stop my cravings coz I've tried :S

Absolutely eat fruit. Tomatoes, bananas, and kiwi fruit are high in potassium and will increase your metabolism which makes you more active which in turn helps you lose weight. Don't starve yourself. Burning bad when you're young poses serious health risks when you get older. I don't remember the percentage but getting skin cancer increases with every burn. I suggest you use a lotion with SPF of at least 15 until your skin gets used to the sun. Tanning beds could help as you can control your exposure. the bottom line is don't get burned.

I have been vegetarian for 4 years and I am feeling really dizzy and a bit nauseaous lately. I can't even stand up and walk in a straight line without feeling dizzy.
I had a blood test and was found to have aneamia.
What foods should I be eating to fix this?
The only meat as such that I eat is fish and eggs. But I hardly ever eat these.

I just did this Google search on "iron rich foods" and turned up some very good sites. I also recommend taking an iron pill. You should consult your doctor or pharmacist for a good one. Shrimp, salmon, tuna , dark leafy green vegetables are all good sources for iron. eat them regularly. Fortified cereals are excellent sources also. Check the nutrition value on the side. One I like is Total. I also take a liquid supplement. Something bio-available is better. It would appear your food choices may be stopping you from trimming the fat. Exercising makes us hungry so the more you exercise the hungrier you become. The trick is to fool your stomach in believing it is full by eating foods that are filling but have low caloric value. By all means I am not qualified to give advice and I cannot assume to be correct. I do however understand how the body functions and therefor I base my answers on that premise only. So think of this, fruits and vegetables have very good nutrients and quick energy release. Eating these before you exercise will get you ready for a good exercise. It is important that the pulse rate increase for at least 30 mis in order for the workout to start breaking down the fat in our body to be used as fuel. Now you will be hungry. Don't undo what you just accomplished by pigging out on junk food. To tell the truth, now would be a good time for a bowl of cereal. I recommend raisin bran. The fiber and wheat will take a while to digest, help clean your colon, and make you feel full longer. Q: Special K brand foods are said to be healthy, but is it even good for a diet. I'm not one to starve myself to be thin, that's just sad.. but some things I know is just for advertising sales. Special K is not that. On a scale of 1 to 10 it is about a 7. I recommend a well rounded diet. 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, grilled chicken, baked and broiled fish, regular serving of salads, and plenty of pure water.
