Question Posted Wednesday July 30 2008, 8:11 pm

Is it OK to love milk and be a vegan? I've tried soy milk and I find it too powdery.

Yes. Being a vegan doesn't mean you HAVE to give up milk, it's just what the majority of people who go vegan do.

If there is a particular reason you want to be called a true vegetarian then you might have a problem. If you want the nutritional benefits from the vegan viewpoint then it really doesn't matter how much "wrong" stuff you eat. You will still be healthier than most. Milk is an excellent source of calcium and protein. 1% or 2% milkfat will give you the same nutritional value without the added fat. Go For It!!!!! Go to www.healthfix4life

well, as you probably know, there are different levels of vegetarianism, some eat birds and fish, some are hardcore- no-animal-products-ever, and thats all ok.
there are no vegan/vegetarian police so you pretty much can do what ever suits you, but the dictionary definition of a vegan is : a vegetarian who omits all animal products from the diet, so i guess you are not fully vegan.

i would say you might be partially vegan, or an over the top vegetarian, but its not crucially important.

* you might want to try almond or rice milk, if you dont like soy...
