I acquired a sunburn tan, meaning that my skin burned first and turned into a tan. Now, the skin is very dark and doesn't feel natural. It has a soft leather feel. Will this eventually go away? Because I have to say that I don't really like the look or feel.

**I am unable to use the sunscreen that we purchased because it makes my skin irritated and I have yet to purchase sunscreen meant for sensitive skin.

The 'leathery' feeling is sun damage. It should go away eventually but unless you start wearing sunscreen, you'll probably end up with skin like that forever.

I suggest you moisturise your skin with a sensitive, non-scented lotion to help with its appearance and texture.

In future, please, please wear sunscreen. Having a tan now is NOT worth looking awful by the time you're 40.
