Sunburn Tan

Question Posted Monday July 19 2010, 4:55 pm

I acquired a sunburn tan, meaning that my skin burned first and turned into a tan. Now, the skin is very dark and doesn't feel natural. It has a soft leather feel. Will this eventually go away? Because I have to say that I don't really like the look or feel.

**I am unable to use the sunscreen that we purchased because it makes my skin irritated and I have yet to purchase sunscreen meant for sensitive skin.

Lotion will help for sure. It'll eventually go away. You may just need to peel.

Try some aloe vera, it's amazing for the skin. And is excellent on making skin smooth.

Also, make sure not too shower long. You want to cut down your shower times. Too much water on the skin, believe it or not can actually DRY out the skin.

Make sure to MOISTURE your skin and you might want to avoid getting to much sun until you find a better sunblock.

The 'leathery' feeling is sun damage. It should go away eventually but unless you start wearing sunscreen, you'll probably end up with skin like that forever.

I suggest you moisturise your skin with a sensitive, non-scented lotion to help with its appearance and texture.

In future, please, please wear sunscreen. Having a tan now is NOT worth looking awful by the time you're 40.
