My name's Jennifer, but I'm more commonly known as Jen or Sporkster. I love lots of things/people including God; volleyball and soccer, my two favorite sports; and cheese. I also love Pi, but that's a story for another day.

I've been answering questions on Advicenators for over three years now, so I'm pretty experienced with it. I love answering questions and helping you out anyway I can, so if you've got a question, just ask me!

Ask me about: Christianity, athletics, physical fitness, love-life, relationships, friendships, HTML queries, book suggestions, music suggestions, musical theory, history, English (or Spanish) grammar, Paint Shop Pro 8, skin problems, sports injuries, "punk" fashion, nutrition, etc.

Q: when you're multiplying 2 numbers with a exponent do u multiply the 2 numbers and then square that or square only the number the exponent is over and then multiply by the other number. -2(-1) with a 2 over the -1

thanx

and dont tell me to look in my text book bcuz im in algebra 1 and this is pre-algebra.. i just dont remember.

A: God...you really should know how to do this by now. We learned how to do this in 7th Grade. Ok, so you're multiplying two numbers, one having an exponent? Ex:

2 squared x 3

FOLLOW PEMDAS! Gotta love Pemdas. It's

P arentheses
E xponents
M ultiplication
D ivision
A ddition
S ubtraction

So, following Pemdas, you would solve the exponent first.

2 squared = 2 x 2 = 4

Then, you would put 4 back into the problem and solve.

4 x 3 = 12

So, 2 squared x 3 = 12

Hope this helps! =) If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask! Math is one of my fortes.
