The name is Leah. I live in Cincinnati, OH. I really love to give advice! I have been here since November of 2004. But prior to joining here, I was always been seeked for advice. Still to this day, my primary concern is always helping someone out in need.

I am likely not the best columnist here, but I can quarantee I am very dedicated and concerned when I answer a question. If I answer a question you're not satisfied with, I will ask why, so I can try my best to change my answer. I only give people information that I know; not information that I might know. And if I notice a columnist giving you a wrong answer, you'll know I'll be correcting their response!!

advice

i live in the uk, and i want my hair to grow as long as possible during the summer holidays, so it look better by september. i have fairly thick hair, so im not looking for pills for volume but just for growth. not many good products are avalible in the uk but on ebay i found nioxin. is it any good? i hear it also help nail growth which would be grea. is it safe to buy it off ebay? does anyone know where i can order hair growth pills, conditioner, etc. that delivers to the uk? Thanks in advance. and i am sure that i want to take pills, natural or chemical. u have no idea how awful my hair looks right now.

Have you ever tried heading more on the herbal/vitamin side?

Yeah there are claims that will make your hair grow. Garnier Fructise does it well.. makes it stronger, and promotes growth.

Take a multivitamin daily, too. Vitamins E, A, K, and C all help in growth and health of the hair, skin, and nails. Omega-3 fatty acids help with skin as well.. if you want to look good =].

Live healthy.. try lessening junk food and exercise, which can really help your cells to be healthier.

In drugstores there are multivitamins just for hair and skin.. cheaper than getting the real thing. I'd try that out first before going to real pills.

Remember, no matter what you get, you won't see results over night.. but keep up with the routine of taking care of yourself (not implying you aren't), and you'll look your best by September.

okay so theres this guy *Jake,and I actually really really like him,I get butterflies around him and when we talk and stuff,hes so kind and sweet to me and I know he likes me too we text non stop sometimes until the early hours of the morning and he always asks me am I getting tired etc. hes just not like all the other guys i usually end up attracting or going out with.
we were in holland last week and we kissed,he was one of the best kisses ive ever had,and he didnt try anything else and he respects me.

Been there totally.. well mostly.

I was in a long-distance relationship myself. I am in Ohio; he lived in Tennessee. It took months to see him in person. It was a long wait. He did finally move up here. We didn't end it b/c of the long distance.. just other reasons.

Well anyway, if you really do care for him and you're willing to do the long-distance then totally go for it. It does take more commitment and trust than a regular relationship.

He sounds like a great guy. I'd definitely keep him if I were you =]

how do you send a buddie list to a person on AIM?

On the taskbar, go to "Save buddy list."

You can send this file through file-sharing in AIM, or e-mail it to them using their AIM e-mail, or another e-mail.

I forget the extension name, but check the ext when saving it.. and save it, so you can identify it and send it.

I watch degrassi online. And I know the episode of KC and his past aired on Friday. Well, I usually go on on Saturday and watch it. But this week the new episode isn't up.

Does anyone know when it might be up?

Or is it just my computer?

Can I watch it somewhere else?

Sometimes it does that for some reason.

I usually watch the episodes on TV, but sometimes I will miss it and then watch it on Degrassi's webpage (The-N.com).

There were quite a few times it took about a week to get those episodes up. Maybe it was just me, or they're behind on episodes on there.

If you're canadian, you can go on the CMT website, and view it. If you're outside the region they won't let you watch it (which I think is ridiculously stupid). So if you don't see it up in a week, something definitely is going on.

When I checked, I didn't see it on there either. It should be up soon. Yet, when I tried getting episodes on the internet, the places I found were CMT and The N. Nowhere else.. and CMT I can't watch because I am American.

It's worth a tiny shot.. but I know Hulu frequently adds shows on their system. Try them sometime in the future if this happens again. Right now Degrassi isn't added.

I hope I helped at least a bit. I missed that episode as well so I can't tell you what happened. I wonder what was up with KC's temper? Hopefully I'll find out soon!

I read your paper and it was very riveting and informative. You obviously put a lot of work into this, and it paid off.

Hey. So, my phone has been missing for 5 days. Its off, and I remember having it in the morning in my house, and after that I can't remember. Is their any way that Verizon would be able to turn it on for me? Thanks.

It all depends on the carrier, and you can ask them on the phone through customer service. If you did not pay the bill, you'd have to pay the bill again to get it back on. If you deactivated the phone on your own, you can reactivate it to find it.

If you're totally sure it's in your house, I would go doing that. If you have some doubt, I would definitely keep it deactivated and get a new phone on warranty so if you find your old phone within a month (or however the warranty lasts) you can return the new one. If however, the phone is insured, you can claim the loss and get a new one.

Like I said the rules depend on the carrier. For the best possible options I would contact Customer Service through e-mail or phone; but the quickest is phone.

My dad said I could get a new phone, or have an "upgrade." Since I have T-Mobile, I guess I have to get a phone within the same plan.... So I was wondering, what the best T-Mobile brand touch screen was? Does anyone have any suggestions or tips? I want a touch screen phone that's at a good price, has good/lots features, a lot of memory and stuff on it... Sorry that I can't really be more specific. The only thing I'm not too happy about is that T-Mobile doesn't really seem to have any good touch screen phones. So if there's anyone out there that actually has a touch screen phone from T-Mobile and could tell me about it, it would help a lot if you could tell me about it. :)

I am not sure if this can apply to you but all T-mobile stores vary.

I don't have this phone, but my sister does. It's called the T-mobile Wing. I love this phone that I am jealous. I am hoping to get it myself soon.

It is a touch screen, it has Windows Mobile, IM, E-mail, Fave 5 -- everything like a blackberry or a T-mobile sidekick would have. I also know about the touch screen blackberry but know nothing about the features. My friend has one and dislikes it though.

The only negative I have about the Wing is that sometimes it might run real slow, or occasionally freeze up. If you'll be a heavy user, the battery might die faster, like many complex phones.

i'm 13 and i just got my period. It's like a dark shade of brown and it's kind of sticky. I'm wearing pads now, but is it really period? and i think pads are really uncomfortable, is this normal for the first time?

Yes, it sounds like your period and it's normal to discharge brown blood. Pads do take some getting used to.

my cat has this really bad cough and im not sure if its a hairball. we cant afford to take him to the vet. what should i do?

I'd foremost try to get food with hairball treatment inside. And look for foods that help the digestive tract. Also get a multivitamin as well.

With no money, seek the local SPCA to see if they can check into what's going on. And may offer some advice.

My dad recently discovered he had Diabetes, but he loves candy. Are there any sugar free candy or sugar free desserts out there?

I thought I would tell you some relief out of this. My dad was diagnosed with Diabetes a few years ago. He went through classes, and read articles about what's friendly and what's not.

Sugar, in moderation, will not worsen his diabetes. Sugar in high amounts can. There are a variety of candies in stories that state "sugar free."

Also, watch out for your carbs. Carbs are complex sugars, meaning they'll keep his glucose level up longer than sugar. My dad had to limit a meal no more than 25 carbs. It was an easy task for him after awhile. Candies can be sugar free, but can still contain carbs. Check the label before buying.

He followed the simple rules of watching his carb and sugar consumption and exercising.

Today, his diabetes is in remission.

Also, I know a lot of nice restaurants serve sugar-free dessert such as cheesecake, and brownies.

Splenda is a great substitute for sugar. It's sweeter, so you use less. Just don't over-do it on Splenda. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

What's the deal with Jon & Kate Gosselin!?
I heard something was up and their marriage was ending but I never got the story or the truth. Please tell. I don't know is reliable sources and I trust Advicenators to be honest with me.

They are divorcing.

Plus, many reports are saying Jon will be having his girlfriend around in the future episodes, so there's another way of knowing it's basically over.

Michael Jackson died today and he was only 50 years old. It really took me by surprise, but it wasn't as if I didn't expect it sometime fairly soon. There have been rumors flying around for some time now about his health problems. As a matter of fact, when Michael was on trial, one day he was late because of health problems. Obviously, the judge didn't feel that Michael's health was all that important because he threatened to have Michael Jackson jailed unless he made an appearance in the courtroom. Michael showed up in his pajamas. Does anyone else remember that?

People made it out to seem as if he was faking. Some people even made it seem like he was crazy and would do ANYTHING as he was suddenly "extremely unpredictable" and all. I guess he wasn't kidding or faking about having health problems, huh?

I'm going to miss Michael Jackson. He was a man who set out to hurt no one, but the world seemed hell-bent upon hurting him. Michael Jackson was seriously the King of Pop in so many ways. Maybe he's better off wherever he is since we trashed his good name without even giving him a chance to speak. I choose to believe that he is now seated up in Heaven, seeing God for the first time.

Does anyone feel like me about Michael Jackson or am I alone in this? When I was growing up Michael Jackson was such a big role model. Sure, he was a little weird but he seemed to care and love. I'm really hurt that Michael Jackson is dead :( almost like a large portion of my childhood has been abandoned.

I am also very saddened by this tragedy.

Michael Jackson was a great man. A lot of people have treated him horribly over the years. I have read quite a few articles after this death, and read that he was actually a loving and caring guy. He would never hurt anyone. The whole molesting kids thing is a big joke. Jackson personally told reporters that being around kids made him feel happy and loved. He laid in bed with kids not for sexual purposes but because he loved being around kids.

People constantly made fun of him because of his life-changing events. For years I wondered what the motive was, but many people called him immoral and psychologically insane. That made me quite upset.

He was strongly devoted to his music, his fans, his friends, and his family. He hasn't done anything to hurt anybody. Yet like a lot of other celebrities, people are always trying to find excuses and flaws about him to ridicule him.

He was indeed the King of Pop. He was a wonderful musician and I enjoyed his music for years. I grew up listening to his music.

Even though I didn't know him personally, I am sure not only I, but many other people would agree that it would have been a pleasure to meet him.

One thing we all can agree on is that he is now in a better place. He may be gone, but his music and talent still lives on. MTV ceased their shows to do a tribute to Michael Jackson; and many radio stations stopped playing their music to have a moment of silence, and follow by playing his music. In fact, I know many television shows stopped their broadcasting for Michael Jackson.

I can also say you're definitely not alone. Millions of people wordwide are effected by this tragedy. I wish his family, his friends, and his fans the best. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of them.

On a side note, some people on here accuse him of molesting children. There are no hard evidence he molested anyone. The families couldn't prove anything, and they still let their children go to his house. The whole dangling a kid off the balcony: he was being playful, and that was his son. He didn't harm him -- he was showing the press where his son was.

Masturbation is actually healthy if you do it weekly or something. It helps with stress, depression, anxiety, and it's a calorie-burner.

If you're wanting to stop because it's taking control of your life, I would try doing something that can take your mind off of it.

Go hang out with friends or family. Go see a funny or adventurous movie. Ride up to the park, and chill on the playground (regardless of age =]). If you're also in school, you can always seek your school psychologist for counseling. Everything is confidential, so he/she will not tell your teachers and parents; unless you bring up thoughts of harming yourself of others.

I would really first try finding your cat. Put up signs, and look around nearby.

They actually say cats have a sense of where their home is. Most instances they'll come back soon if they're in need of water or food. This is true. My old cat was an outdoor cat, and she would remember where she lived and came back. How else would you think they'd come back?

An indoor cat is a bit different but they still have an idea of where they live.

Within a week or two, I would go to a pet shelter/SPCA to see if they have your cat.

If it's been a few months, your cat is likely gone.. from unfortunate events that happen to runaway pets.

If no luck, you can always seek a close friend or relative for advice on the grieving and mourning process.

soo im going to a public school next year and realize how little of clothes i actuually have. i normally used to wear free people ella moss juicy aqua hollister and abercrombie because i didnt need clothes for during the week. i want to get stylish affordable clothes at good prices. what kinds of brands and stores can offer that?

Yeah I can agree with some stores. Yeah, I usually have to get cheap clothes since we're financially not doing so well. But these stores carry great clothes; don't get me wrong.

Fashion Bug - they are pricey but always have really nice clothes on sale -- especially in the summer.

Walmart - Cheap; always has clothes selling 5-15 dollars.

Target - Very stylish clothes; can be cheap.

Steve & Barry's - Very cheap store with nice clothes.

Goodwill- They are cheap, but you can find some nice clothes.

General Dollar - Aren't the best clothes, but they're cheap.

Dots - Very fashionable clothes at a nice price. I've bought a few pairs of lingerie, a few blouses, and a bra for 20 dollars.

Near a mall? There are some nice stores in there such as Rainbow and there's one shop with nice clothes, and they have a 2 for 10 sale (forget the name).

Catherines - Affiliated with Fashion Bug. Can be pricey but always have clothes on sale at a very nice price. This store is for plus-sized women particularly, but you can find clothes smaller than that there.

JcPenney - They're at reasonable prices on their clothes.

i had sex 2ish weeks ago. the first time we had it w. out a condom but put a condom on to finish then the next time was no condom but he didnt finish and then he had a condom on but never finished. i know theres always a chance no matter what. but is there a big chance?

Using a condom throughout the whole time of having sex would lower your chances; but you only used a condom at the end -- that's increasing your chances.

There is such thing as pre-cum. Sometimes the guy won't even feel it coming. He may tell you you're okay, but really you couldn't be.

ok so i went off depo about a month and a half ago and ever since then ive been bleeding pretty much nonstop. Not like heavy period but yeah. I was wondering if this is at all normal? oh and also i had sex around the time i went off it and it was pretty rough but there's no way that could make me bleed this much could it? thanks.

If you've been bleeding non-stop for a month and a half, I would really recommend seeing your Doctor.

Bleeding non stop for a week or two is one thing; but a month and a half is not a good sign.

If your cat is old, and has been getting them just on occasion, there's not much you can do.

If your cat is healthy and has been getting them several times a day, I would go see a vet.
