I am going to an awsome musiacal camp. To Audition you need to sing. I have no idea
what to sing. I want to get a good part so I
want to good a good part.
Any advice?
That's great that you want to be active in musical camp. Playing a musical part takes a lot of talent.
First, be very confident and smile. Just like an interview, you want to look totally prepared, and show them you can (>can<) win a good part [or a job at an interview].
I am not sure if you are up for seeking a challenging song, or a simple song; or maybe in between.
For challening, sing some Celine Dion. She has a lot of tones in her music. It's hard to reach her vocal levels; but if you can be nearly as well as her, you'll do great.
Even the star-spangled banner is complicated, but everyone likes to practice, and sing that. For songs like that, you have to hit specific vocal tones; but people like to get creative and use a guitar or something (if you're able to).
How about the RESPECT song? Every person (especially a young girl) loves to sing that song. It's easy, yet you can get so creative with that song. Another one is Bubbly by Colbie Caillat.
I am not an expert at singing and musicals. It's more important you pick a song you're comfortable with, and that you can remember. A song you can sing from the heart with. It shows to everyone the dedication and effort you put into a song, so sing loud and proud, and show them you want the part.
Come in with a smile on your face, and leave with a smile on your face. If you don't get the part, always tell the person in charge you'd like to be kept in mind for future shows.
