Hey, I'm Mara. I love dancing. It's practically my favourite thing to do. I love House, R&B, pretty much everything with a good beat, and Benny Benassi is my hero; that's why my column is a shrine to him. I graduated this year and am now in my first year of college where I'm trying to pick a major. Chances are you'll see some of my Psychology questions floating around somewhere here. I'm also extremely interested in Political Science too because I, like half the people living in Canada, somehow want to change the world. I particularly want to find a cure for poverty, corruption, cancer, AIDS and George Bush because honestly, I think those are the biggest problems we have right now. I have decided that maybe I should take the time to live a little before I start though because I have a good fifty years ahead of me to fix all the issues there are. Currently my life consists of: studying, working, socializing, eating and ocassionaly sleeping. I spent practically all of my high school life being a delinquent and partying to huge extents until I discovered my brain sometime in the middle of my senior year. I still like to have a good time every once in a while but you always need to find that balance (I haven't exactly found it yet but I'm getting close). Unfortunatley, a habit that has stuck with me from school is my obsessive gossiping. I just can't stop and you know, an article in Cosmo says that gossipers are healthier people because they bond over it? Who would have thought? Anyway, I do have my limitations and I don't condone nasty, brutal gossiping and I don't gossip about anything my friends have told me in confidence or something about someone else that they have slipped to me, however, if I find you in a washroom at a random party making out with my bestfriends's boyfriend, a few people are probably going to hear about it. Actually, more than a few people will hear about it because one of my absolute pet peeves is parties where the all the bathrooms are occupied due to sexual activity or... puking activity. Sooooo what else is there to know about me? My favourite thing in the world is shopping and my worst fear is existantialism. I am OCDey in a clinical way so you can ask me questions about that. You can ask me practically anything you want except for dumb questions but I'm not going to answer them in my little column here because it's a huge waste of space when I could be writing about myself (Click 'LookIt' on my menubar for answers to dumb questions so you don't have to embarass yourself asking them and getting bitched out from me). What I can do, is offer you three pieces of truly inspirational advice. Firstly, never live your life by what others want of you, cherish yourself and everyone around you, and never beat yourself down about anything you couldn't have avoided. Secondly, donate at least ten percent of the income you earn in your life to someone who needs it. Lastly, never get into a bulldozer when you're under the influence and start driving it towards a poor freshmen (I am never going to another kegger ever again... ever). Ok, I'll shut up now. You can start asking me stuff, if you haven't hit the back button already.

i just got my period today (not my first) but anyways i have a 5-8 hour surgery on monday and ill be sleeping for like 2 days and i wont be able to walk right away. so what should i do?
Talk to the doctor or nurse and see what they can do about it. They'll probably give you a pad or medication.

It depends on what you're doing.
If you're dancing the night away then a purse would be a bother unless you have a wallflower friend who can watch it for you.

I was talking to my friend the other day. He was talking about how he was in a band in highschool. I asked him what year he graduated and it turned out to be the same year I was born. I started to laugh and when I told him his face went beet red and he couldnt look me in the eye.
I thought that because we are just friends that this was a strange reaction.
Do you think that maybe he has feelings for me as more than a friend? That would explain why he was embarressed.
Well that or he realizes how old he is getting.
Either way honey, this is a situation to avoid. He is waay older. Don't even confront him on it. Just keep the friendship thing.

OK i want to know if this guy like me:
yesterday he talked to me a lot and made me laugh and he smiled around me. but he sort of does the same to some other girls. but what he did different to me is memorize my locker combo and he broke into it, then came up and told me he did. Today: he sat near me and ralked to me a lot again. then came up and tried to get into my locker and disapearred somewhere. He smiles and talks to me a lot and i can't really tel the diff b/w flirting and talking/smiling/laughing so i dont know if he is flirting or not. But what i want to know is if he likes me. Thankser!
The difference between smiling and flirting is sometimes hard to tell but the fact that he broke into your locker shows some definite interest.

okay i need yalls help. My friend is having a costume/birthday party on the 29th of October. I need some costume ideas...i'm 14 and im female. So nothing too trashy! Um i thought of being a paparazzi (or however its spelled) you know..the people who hound celebrities and take their pix. The only reason i thought of that is because I have a digital camera and it'd give me an excuse to take pix LOL. so if anyone has some costume ideas or how i could dress like a paparazzi plz help! thnkx a mil also..a few more things I am not looking to go out and spend alot of money...if possible i'd like to work with what i've got or if i must buy something i want it cheap. At home i've got a feather mask (black and white) a green feather boa, yellow and purple weave (i'm white and no one in my family knows how to braid so yeah), walking sticks, umm i've got a variety of pants and colors...although if it involes pants i'd like to wear blue jeans..umm anything else i dont have i can buy cheap so anything is welcome...I'd just prefer not to go as something like little red riding hood or something like that. Paparazzi is a good idea. But you would need the digital camera to look like a professional.
I'd say, try dressing up as a newsie so you get an excuse to carry a camera around since it's in the same field of work.

I am a secondary school student (15 yrs old, female and have been in love with a boy that I know for just over 3 yrs.
Usually we get along really well, though he treats me as nothing more than a good friend.
I am extremely confused, as everytime I get an indication that he thinks of me as more than a friend he will do something unexpected and nasty afterwards, like making a really harsh/cutting comment in front of a group.
He has heard rumours in the past that I fancied him but he has remained a very good friend.
I can be quite insecure sometimes and I wonder if it's my lack of self confidence which is making me confuse his signals (is he giving me the green light?) or whether the fact I adore him is making me read more into his body language. Or his he just sending mixed signals?

Seeing how your experience relates to some situations that I have seen before, I think it's safe to say the boy is pretty confused.
He starts warming up to you but when he realizes what he's doing, he makes a harsh comment to distance you again.
I think you should start dropping hints and seeing how he reacts to them.
If he has been friend with you for three years, chances are he's having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that you mean more to him. If you're a pretty close female friend, he probably doesn't want to "ruin it". Guys do that many times because intimate platonic opposite-sex friends are pretty hard to find and they often mean more to them than girlfriends and sex (as hard as it seems to believe).

The hormones from the pills should still be in your body so there isn't much to worry about.
If you miss your period, go see a doctor.

I am 17/f and have a male friend I like a lot. both of us have partners, so nothing on that score (except a lot of flirting in the past) and for some time we were pretty close. He doesn't open up to a lot of people (including I think, his girlfriend) but to some extent he did with me.
Anyway, lately things have been kind of strange. He doesn't really contact me much anymore- it's always me who does, though he's pleased to see me when we do meet, but he seems to have closed up on me again, only letting me see this big surface act he has going. It really hurts.
It may be because his girlfriend didn't like the fact we were friends or he felt guilty or something, i don't know.
Any clues as to what's going on and how to get my proper friend back will be much appreciated!
It's probably the girlfriend. If he hasn't had a problem with being friends with you before, he shouldn't be feeling guilty about it now.
The proper strategy would be to hang out with him -and- his girlfriend for a bit and bring a date so she realizes that you aren't a threat and may be willing to let him see you more.

my skin has been ripped off of my arms, and I was planning on just replacing it with saran wrap, but I'd like to know of some other methods of dermalogical reconstruction. I am on a tight budget.
Use plaster of paris or mud. I recommend mud, that way it's already brown so you don't have to paint it a skin colour.
Unless you're an albino, then the plaster would suit better.

The healing process after a break up takes time and how long it takes is different depending on the person, the relationship and how long it lasted.
Your friends should be understanding about that and realize that it isn't an easy thing to get over someone you generally care about, unless they haven't had that deep of a relationship themselves.

How scary is the movie Hide and Seek? See, we're thinking of watching it at my Halloween party, but I get scared VERY easily and get nightmares and stuff - basically I'm a wimp lol!! If it's really really scary, does anyone have any suggestions of movies that are good, scary but not terrifying (from a wimp's point of view lol)?
We've already seen Blair Witch Project, Signs, The Ring (what is Ring 2 like?), Sixth Sense and both Final Destinations and don't really wanna watch them again.

Instead of seeing a gory movie, try a thriller with less bloody scenes or frightening images.
Check out a few mystery/murder flicks like I Know What You Did Last Summer and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, The Glass House, Takin Lives et cetera.
The Ring 2 isn't just less scary, it's downright boring. I recommend you avoid it at all costs unless you want your party to be a flop.

Recently me(14f) and my boyfriend(15m) broke up. We had plans to go to homecoming together, and everything so now that we are broken up I pretty much have NO date for homecoming, I do know a few people that like me... But I don't think any of them would want to go to homecoming on such short notice, but my friend wants me to go with their (her and her boyfriend) group of people including his extremely hot single brother, that thinks i am "Beautifully Stunning" so do i just see if he wants to go with me or sit this homecoming out? High School Rule #1: Don't sit out on anything you want to do because after HS, you'll look back and regret it.
I find that it's more fun to go with a group of friends than with a date. It gives you more variety.

Ok so I've known this guy (we'll call him Jay) for about 3-4 months now and I reallllyy like him!! Today we had to watch an "educational movie" in English and it was about drinking and driving. Well, the cop made a guy take the breathing test thing and on the machine it said, "please blow". My friend and I found that amusing so I decided to write "please blow" on his leg and draw an arrow pointing up (immature yeah, what high school kid isn't?). My teacher then came over and asked us what we were doing. I told him nothing and that I was just writing on my friends leg. He read what was written and wrote both of us up as a level 2 offence. That gives us a Saturday detention. We thought it was so unfair because I mean seriously, how does that deserve a Saturday D-hall? Should we try to fight back with our AP and tell him what we think or should we just take the punishment and go?

I will be starting ballroom danacing soon, and theirs going to be a halloween party where we have to dress up. So I was wondering what I should be? I wasnt planning on buying a costume so I need some simple ideas, that you dont have to buy a lot of stuff to make. I dont want to be a ghost, hobo, etc. Something good.
Also for ballroom dancing you have to dress fancy, and i have like one dress. So I was wondering if anyone knew of some any cute fancy clothes. We cant wear Gouchos, thats how fancy it is!
And also I dont know how to make my hair. I have thick brown hair, and I want to make it thin...does anybody have ideas to make your hair thinner and last longer besides gel and straightning, cuz i already do that, and then after a while it gets all frizzy.

As for the dress, you probably want to cruise around stores at the mall and take a look at what is hot this season. Try a small empress waist.
As for the hair, usually people want thicker hair, not thinner hair so I doubt you'll be able to find a product that will help you with that.
