I have this one friend who is always flirting with my friends boyfriends, and even mine. We get mad at her all the time, and she tries to make us forgive her by giving us presents and stuff. We're sick of her! Whenever we get in fights with her she gets her mom involved too. It's starting to get on everyones nerves. Also, she always thinks we're talking about her behind her back, but we're not! HELP! ASAP!-Bethany (link)
|
This friend is a flirt; She knows it, you know it and your friends know it. Do YOU still want to be friends with her? If yes, then tell her that you will no longer accept her apologies and gifts as a peace offering when she makes you mad by flirting with your boyfriend(s). If you want to be friends, but you know she won't listen to you, then do things with her that don't involve hanging around boys together. Stick to movies, shopping, or hanging out at each others' houses (without boys). This way, you can enjoy each others' company and there won't be any rivalry over males between the two of you. Now if you have simply had enough and want to end the friendship, then don't invite her to do things with you or over to your house anymore. Put some space between the two of you. After a while, she will know that you want the friendship to end.

hey, i was thinking about getting some posters for my room that are of tv shows i like & movies that i like... does anyone know where i could get them where they aren't too expensive.. (link)
|
There are several online sources, but you'll need a credit card to purchase: half.com and amazon.com You can enter the title and search for your poster choice. Also, try asking the manager at a BlockBuster video if you can have a poster after they have finished with it. I left my name and number and they called when they were finished and got 4 cool monster posters!

Has anyone here gotten there tonsils out? If so, what's the best food to eat other than ice cream? I just got mine out 2 days ago and nothing tastes good and I'm in pain -__-|| (link)
|
When you are in pain, nothing will seem to taste good. Soft foods are going to be easiest on the throat, no doubt. Some foods, even though they are soft have small pieces that can be painful (like cottage cheese or mashed potatoes). Try to stay with the SMOOTHest textures. Here are a few suggestions: Jello, some blended yogurts (without fruit pieces), applesauce, warm (not hot) chicken or beef broth. Some baby foods like fruits or desserts are pretty tasty (bananas, peach cobbler, dutch apple treat, etc.) I do NOT recommend the baby foods that are vegetables nor meats...they can taste bland or gross! Avoid acidic drinks like orange juice, coffee, or carbonated drinks like Coke...ouch! Hope you are feeling better soon.

I had written to you earlier about the boy I like being really shy on the phone. Now, I'm beginning to think it's not just shyness. We basically agreed we wouldn't start anything until summer. And it's summer now! We haven't done anything! Everything was great for awhile...we talked on the phone and internet alot. Then, he was gone on a trip. But he didn't call me when he got back. So I finally called him...and we talked about doing something for his birthday together. Well, his birthday has passed and nothing. He works all day most of the time, so I know he's busy. But I call his cell...so my # should show up...and he doesn't call me back. And I'm afraid I did or said something wrong...and I don't understand if he's just really busy or doesn't want to talk to me. I've been really looking forward to this summer and now I'm afraid I'll never get to see him. Should I tell him this?? (link)
|
I don't understand why this guy is making your heart ache...and that is exactly what he is doing. He seems to have a reason (excuse) for NOT following through with: picking up in the summertime with the relationship, calling after he went on a trip, getting together for his birthday, and so on. If he has broken this many "dates", he isn't interested in a relationship that is beyond talking on the phone and via the internet. If you are the only one trying, you are being taken for granted. You should probably go on without him. Keep your eyes and heart open for someone more considerate and don't allow yourself to be treated 2nd hand....you deserve more.

My friend, say her name is Sally, has been talking about my other friend, say Suzie. Sally is really nice and all but when Suzie isn't around she talks about her. And when Suzie is around she is nice and everything to her. How can i get Sally to be nice about Suzie behind her back without making Sally mad at me? (link)
|
"Sally" may feel insecure about herself and by talking about "Suzie" it makes her feel better. "Sally" might also be afraid that you are closer friends (or may become so) with Suzie and wants you to favor her more. One way to get her to back off of the gossiping and eventually stop, is to come back with, "I'm sorry you see it that way, because Suzie likes you (or thinks you're nice)". Avoid putting exact words into Suzie's mouth. Also, change the subject abruptly and start talking about something else the minute Sally begins "Suzie bashing". If she continues or goes back to gossiping after you've changed the subject, you could then leave the room to go to the bathroom, check the fridge, change the radio station, etc. Keep this up and she'll get the message that you aren't interested in joining in with her.

Ok well I'm in high school and like ALL the girls have bigger boobs than me! And I mean i dont want to go to school wearing a padded bra one day and having everyone notice me like a sore thumb! But I've heard if you messeged your boobs or whatever that they will grow. Is there anyway that I can make them get bigger without wearing a padded bra or anything :-/ I'm really self concious and I dont want to be anymore!
THANKS a bunch (link)
|
There isn't any way to make them grow. They are basically made up of fat. Advertisers have offered all kinds of things that promise to increase bust size: creams, lotions, massagers, pumps, and exercises. Alas, none of these have worked! To look good, keep upper arms in shape and a trim figure...it helps emphasize what you DO have. Fitted (not skin tight) clothing on a trim body can make your figure look fuller. Avoid halter tops, as they can draw attention to the problem. Clothing that is baggy makes a bust seem even smaller. Instead of a padded bra, there are bras that enhance with push up features..the Wonder Bra (a brand) does really help! I had rather small breasts as a young teen, but they eventually filled out by the time I was 20.

Im a 15 year old girl and I have a question about acne. I heard that toothpaste is a good way to get rid of a pimple. Do you know if thats true? (link)
|
I have heard that, as well. It may work, but could cause some skin irritation, depending on what strength toothpaste it is. It probably has some properties that make the zit shrink or dry up. If you try it, let me know the results.
|
I sometimes get ance, but nothing serious. Yester day I broke out pretty bad. I don't know what caused it either. Do you know any quick way I can get rid of it? (link)
|
Sudden breakouts are usually caused by an increase of oil secreted by the skin. If you have been in the sun or have been sunburned, then your oil glands are trying to supply moisture to the skin. Summer brings on added problems like tanning and sunblock products that clog pores and excess sweat. So wash your face frequently, morning and bedtime with an oil control soap. Clean skin is important. Even though your skin may be oily, apply an OIL FREE moisturizer- boys and girls. This helps keep your glands from producing more oil to moisturize the skin...nature's way.
You didn't say if you were a girl or boy. If you are a girl, try to go light on the makeup while your face is broken out (or not any) and dab a benzoil peroxide based or a salicyclic acid based acne medication on BEFORE applying any foundation. My favorite is Clean&Clear invisible blemish treatment; It is a clear gel.
If you are a guy, try to shave sparingly so not to irritate skin. I recommend the same type of acne products for you, too.

I like this guy (we'll call him X). I met him on a Friday a few weeks ago, hung out with him for about 6 hours straight a few days later, and he tells me that he really likes me. I started talking on the phone and developing strong feelings for him. We hung out again and he talks about how much he likes me + also about trying to make a relationship work with the two of us. This friday, he cancells plans with me and says he's intimidated by relationships/commitment, even after everything he had previously said. Now, on Friday he says he's going to think it through and we're going to hang out on Sunday instead, so he asks me to clear my schedule. I do, and now he's not home, nor has he bothered to call me or sign online all day. How am I supposed to be reacting to this? Should I give him any more chances or is it not worth it? (link)
|
Let me summarize this to make sure that I understand. He backs out on you after being together. He tells you he likes you. He backs away and says he doesn't want to commit. Then he tells you to clear your schedule so you can discuss it further, because maybe there is a chance..... and then he is unavailable?! He's had ENOUGH chances. He is already treating you badly before there is an actual steady relationship commitment, so there is no way he'll be any better IF you ever do connect.
This guy is playing "hard to get", BUT you need to play "easy to FORget"! Leave this guy alone and steer in the direction of nicer guys.

I discovered a dimensional rift under my bed sometime last year. It was never a problem until just recently it began to suck in my left socks I left on the floor. In exchange for them, it deposits lady bugs in my room. The bills for my black cotton footwear are starting to add up and I can no longer stand the sight of lady bugs. Do you have a solution to my perils? Is there a way to mend this? (link)
|
The solution to your problem is quite easy. Stop leaving socks on the floor by your bed. Instead, leave recyclable items and clothing you have tired of wearing. This way, it will continue to be fed on a regualr basis and perhaps the rift won't grow any larger. If it continues to leave ladybugs in the place of these new items you start leaving, then place potted plants (preferably with flowers) on your windowsill, while leaving window up about 5 inches. The bugs will be attracted to the plants and then exit through the window. Ladybugs are helpful insects, as they eat unwanted garden pests such as aphids.

hopefully i can make this as short as possible, so here we go (by the way i am a male and am 15 years old, going to be a sophmore next year); the person i like to portray myself to be is a really nice and caring guy who is what some people would call not as much a guy as guys are, but anyways, there is this girl who is really really nice, and really really fun and energetic, she is always "bouncing off the walls" and also has a great sense of humor and is really fun to be around, i really enjoy being around her. here is some more information: i didnt know how to let her know how i felt about her, because i look up to her as a rolemodel as the person i want to be like, funny, smart, and just plain fun and not perverted or anything, like she never curses or says sick jokes or anything like that, so anyways, one day after school i stopped her and told her that i thought she was really cool and she in turn said the same thing to me, and i told her that i never thought i would meet anyone else like her. to finish off the information- i am moving in about 3 weeks, leaving state going off to somewhere else because of parent complications and what not, and now i just want to get to know her better; she did give me her email, but knowing her she doesnt check it except every month or so, so that it does not get deleted, because it is a hotmail account, so if i am lucky she will see the email i sent to her asking her if she would want to go for a walk and talk sometime so we can get to know each other better, but i dont think that will work. so anyways, here is my question- i want to find a way to ask her to do something with me (and by the way she doesn't want to date anyone or get into a relationship, that is why i want to ask her on a walk), but i dont know what to ask her to do, i thought of asking her for i walk, so we can talk more, because i want to get to know her better, so i dont know what to ask her, and second of all i dont know how to contact her, so far i have just been waiting to see if she will reply to my email, but i dont think she will, so i want another way to ask her, and i am not so sure about calling her house or knocking on her door and asking her that way, i only have 3 weeks left before i am gone and will not be able to see her again, so i just want some advice (and by the way she doesnt use chats either), so i would really appreciate it if someone could send me some advice, thanks a whole bunch if you do! (link)
|
How about a short answer for your detailed situation? Tell her, "I am moving in just 3 weeks and would like to hang out/go to the park/walk around the mall (whatever) and just talk. This will be my only chance to share some time with you before I go. You are so much fun to hang out with and I'd love to have a few laughs before I leave." No strings are attached at this point. You could end up having a great time with her and making an impression that would tempt her to check her email more often! You are leaving anyway, so if it doesn't work out, then you'll never see her again. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

ive been goin out /w this guy 2 weeks exactly. were kissed b 4, and weve held hands god nows how many times, and we went 2 the movies yesterday and he had his hand around me and i have my head on his shoulder. that basically shows you how close we are. i just got out of school for 3 months. i gave him my phone # in his yearbook. i still feel strange about calling him though. and i dont now why. do i call him or wait for him to call me?

Things sound as though they are going really well if you have been going out and he is affectionate in a sweet way. Ask him if he has ever had girls call him. If you are too embarrassed then just hint like crazy, girl! You can drop hints like: "Hey, did you ever write your number in my yearbook?" or "The people at my house aren't so great at taking messages, so can I have your number in case I thought you'd called and I missed it?" He can only say yes or no!

I'm 24 and I've been with my boyfriend, Rob, for 2 years. He's got everything I look for in a guy. He is tall, dark and handsome with a wonderful personality.
But every 6 months I visit my parents who are living in Canada and 2 years ago (just after I'd started seeing my boyfriend) I went to see them as usual. And there I met Jason. His parents are friends with my parents and the first time I saw Jason, he just blew me away. We had this incredible connection and chemistry and it was something I'd never ever felt before. The instant attraction between us was unbearable. But obviously there was Rob to think of and I was there for only 2 weeks, so nothing happened. When I got back and saw Rob, I'd kicked myself for even thinking there may be something with Jason, because Rob was just perfect. But 6 months later, I went to Canada once again to see my parents and just like before, Jason managed to take my breath away. It was as if we'd never been apart. There was still that amazing chemistry but this time stronger. But again, nothing happened. It was exactly the same last year when I saw my parents twice. So this has been going on for 2 years and even though I'm still with Rob and he's wonderful, I just can't forget Jason (he's still single). He's always somewhere in my mind. I can't imagine my life without Rob but I find myself wondering what Jason is doing and excited about seeing him again. Is this fate trying to tell me something? I feel lost and confused. Please give me your thoughts. (link)

You are young and probably pretty, too. I know you are bright, because you express yourself so well. You can be "in love" with someone or love them and feel attracted to someone else. Why do you think people flirt? The key is you DON'T have to act on it. If you are serious about your future with Rob (possibly marriage), then realize you cannot let your emotions (hormones) lead you to cheat with Jason. Think about how you would feel if Rob were attracted to another girl while you were away. This attraction you feel toward Jason is partly excitement about a "secret rendezvous" or a "romantic fantasy" even though you two aren't exactly involved with each other. It sparks a bit of romance in your mind and heart and makes you feel adventurous and desirable. As far as fate goes, it is more like statistics, because you both have parents that are friends with each other and there is a strong possibilty that you are going to meet up with Jason when you visit. Rob is here and you have a life together and Jason is in another country. Unless you are going to leave Rob and move to Canada to pursue Jason, don't mess up a good thing. P.S. Don't feel that you need to come clean and tell Rob about your feelings for Jason (especially if you ever argue and you want to "get back" at him), because you will plant a seed of doubt in this handsome, good guy's mind.

Ok this boy and I, we like each other...we just haven't gotten real serious yet. But we plan to start seeing each other this summer. Anyways, he gave me his number... the only problem is that he's so shy. Which is fine...he's a really good guy. But sometimes on the phone he'll just mumble. And I think well if he wanted to talk bad enough, he'd call me and he'd be more talkative. But I just wonder if he thinks the same thing about me. Because sometimes he'll say "you never called" I'm just worried he doesn't want me to...and that I'll get on his nerves if I call alot. Should I talk to him about this? How much is TOO much to be calling? (link)
|
When he says, "you never called", then it seems he is indicating he IS waiting for you to call and as far as he is concerned it isn't too much for you to call often. He is certainly shy about calling you! I would also think that his shyness is one reason for his mumbling when he calls. Let's face it, most gals have an easier time talking to a guy than vice versa. Studies have shown that females rate high in verbalization far sooner and with more skill than boys do, but enough of the early childhood lecture. Sometimes, even when you really like someone, it can be hard to keep a conversation going and to think of topics to discuss. Here are some suggestions:
Find out a TV show that you both like and watch it while on the phone together. That way, you can make comments or jokes about what you are watching. It is also a good way to find out his interests. If you don't have a tv in your room or someone else at your house is in the room and you can't have the TV and phone to yourself, then listen to the same radio station together. You can comment on the songs, lyrics, what music you are both into, who you do and don't like as singers, current events and even make fun of the commercials. This is a beginning way to form a common bond and awkward silences won't seem so awkward on the phone. NOW, as far as getting him to call YOU back, make a game of it. When you are getting ready to hang up say things like, "Tag you're it! Call me!" or "I'll be up around 11:00 tomorrow morning and will be home until (whatever time) before I go to (whatever place) so call me then, okay?" Then he will have to say yes or no to calling you back and get a confirmation out of him that he understands you want him to return some calls. Let me know if any of this works.

There's this guy i have a huge crush on ,
and reccently , he has been sending me vibes that he isn't interested in me , which is the opposite of what he was sending me a week ago . He basically ignored me !
To tell the truth , i feel hurt . I suppose i was exaggerating a little , but i have written this poem which is in the topic "Education-Writing" Called Everytime . Read it and i guess you will understand how i feel now .
What should i do ?
Please help .

Your poem could be a song on the top 10 charts. I wouldn't send this to him, as it seems too desperate for this stage in a NONrelationship. You've indicated that you both were checking each other out and hadn't gotten together yet. In this case, this is the type of soulful poem that is sent AFTER the breakup of a serious relationship.

What are some nice sweet romantic things guys can do to make there girlfriends just feel really really loved...........please help...thanks you all! (link)

I agree with the advice that Girlwithamansname gave you about affection that isn't too sexual. For example, brushing her hair out of her eyes, and believe it or not, kissing her on the hand while hand holding or on the cheek is sooooo sweet. Being chivalrous and being a gentleman are a sure thing. When you are out together, even at the mall, take the initiative a buy her a drink/soda BEFORE she asks. This shows that you were aware of even the most basic of her needs. Thoughtfulness isn't expensive.

I'm sure none of you can help me, but I felt it rarely hurts to ask. I am an art major, and becoming an art teacher is my last resort. Becoming a teacher would be moderate money-wise, but it won't make it easy for me to pay my mother's 25,000 dollar debt, and I know I will have to eventually, she's been unemployed for several months now (Since November) and has no intentions on find a job. I think the best answer for me would be working under a small comic book company, comic strips, or other things along these lines. I'm full of ideas, and I've got no way of using them. What should I do? Do any of you know of a location I can submit ideas to. And even if I did submit something, what would I include in my submission? Does anyone have any ideas as to how on earth I can make a living on art to the point where I can pay off my mom's debt? (link)
|
If it is quick cash that you need, I don't have any suggestions. If you are looking for a future solution, have you considered a career in graphic design? Do you have any computer experience to combine with your artistic talents? Positions for art teachers are very rare. I am a teacher, and know that you must have certification in an academic area (reading, math, science)to ensure a position as an art or music teacher. I am basing this on the fact that I have a very talented friend who was an excellent band teacher for 6 years at a middle school who left to have a baby. When she decided to return to teaching, there wasn't a position for her unless she had an academic certification to go with it. Small companies like you mentioned don't pay much either. Perhaps you could do some layouts for a newspaper in advertising. Go in person with some of your work to show to potential clients. Phone calls, emails, or mailed resumes and portfolios don't show as much determination and eagerness to work hard. They will take you more seriously if you approach them in person, professionally dressed, ( no suit, just neat and conservative). In the meantime, check into debt consolidation for your mom to keep the creditors off her back. You still have to make a payment, but it is better than multiple smaller payments and really helps ease the burden. By the way, does your mother know how YOU feel? If you haven't already discussed this you need to sit her down and tell her directly, "Mom, I love you and want to be supportive, but it isn't fair that I have to take on the role of the parent and solve your problems. I am here for you and you need to work WITH me to help get you out of debt." Good luck to you.

well, i have had my period but it's late. like a week and a half late, what should i do and why is this happening? (link)
|
Assuming that you are not having unprotected sex and could be pregnant, it is not unusual to have a late period. Stress or lots of physical exercise can cause you to be late, have a light cycle or even skip one. If you suspect that you may be pregnant, buy a home pregnancy test and follow the EXACT directions on the box...they are very reliable when used accurately. If you are pregnant, seek the advice of a parent or doctor immediately!

Many times in life, we have close friends that move away and we feel a sadness and a loss. However, the best way to keep a friendship is with contact. I have friends spread out all over the US and at one time, my dear friend moved to another COUNTRY! Email and talk on the phone and don't forget a personal touch like a fun card or written letter with a photo or two. I plan trips to get together with my buddies and even travel together. One summer as a special birthday treat, we flew to the same city and met at the airport, then rented a convertible and drove to a small artists' town to explore and sight see. We had a blast! There isn't any reason that you can't get together for a day or two and spend time together over weekends, holidays, or summer break. It is the quality time that you spend together, not how often or how much that keeps a friendship going. Remember to share important events and keep up with what is happening in your life. You and your friend will make new ones, so don't become jealous if they mention new buddies. You will always have a place in their life if you include them in your own.

my mom is way overprotective of me. i mean, i am her first born, only daughter (i have 1 sibling, a brother 4 years younger), and getting ready to graduate next year. i know hse is just scared for me, but she wont let me do alot of stuff. i mean, i dyed my hair from blonde to black a few months ago and she wont let me touch up my blonde roots (i look silly) and she wont even let me do silly little things...like i want to go and see the fireworks this year with my friends, instead of my family like it is every year. is there any easy way i can make my mom realize that im NOT a little girl anymore, i am 17 and ready to do stuff for myself and make my own desiciions? (link)
|
You are old enough to do things with your friends at age 17. I'm glad that you realize that your mom loves you and is just showing concern for you. She probably questions some of your decisions after you decided to dye your blonde hair black. (I have gone through various colors myself!) If your mom is having a hard time letting you go because she wants you to be part of a tradition of seeing fireworks as a family, then ask her to compromise. Tell your mom you would like to have dinner with the family and ride with them to the fireworks. Once there, you would like to join your friends and go with them to watch the fireworks. If you are given a curfew to be home (and I'm sure you will be) stick to that time. If you fufill a promise or agreement, it builds trust and your mom will be more likely to listen to your suggestions. You can gain more freedom while making your mom feel at ease.
