Q: I have minor acid reflux if that has to do with this:
When I turn over in bed suddenly sometimes a get this odd feeling in the center of my chest. It feels like a bubble popped in my heart. It doesn't hurt, but it feels SO odd. What could this be? Should I tell my doctor about this?

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the acid reflux. It sounds like it. I don't think it's an immediate thing for your doctor, but don't forget to tell him, either.

They are like low-lights. It subtles your hair into looking natural, but with highlights. If you don't get it, they're like "barely-there" thin highlights, but, you can see them.
They can be anywhere that regular highlights are.

Q: i think that i'm kind of self conscious .. i didn't know where to put this under but i think im really self conscious about my body and my looks and stuff. so i dont know. but anyway .. how could i get rid of some of my self consciousness?

When you feel self-conscious it means you are putting too much attention on yourself, too much focus on what you are doing and how you are doing it. And this is a formula for poor performance.
The secret then to dealing with this problem is to become other conscious.
If all you do is shift your focus from self to others you will communicate better, perform better and become a far better listener.
Another positive consequence is that other people will enjoy spending time with you because it is so obvious you give them your complete attention.
Your goal is to become so fascinated by other people that your focus is on what they say, how they say it and why they say it.
6 Tips for Becoming Other Conscious:
1. Pay attention to the way people breathe, watch closely and observe the relationship between breathing and speaking.
2. Listen not just to what people say but the way they say it. Pay very close attention to speech patterns, changes in tempo, volume and tone.
3. Ask thoughtful questions to understand the way others think. Really strive to grasp why others think what they think.
4. Whenever your focus shifts back to the way you are behaving ask yourself questions about the other person so you need to pay attention to him e.g.
- What does he really mean by that?
- How does he manage to be so boring?
- How does she keep people so entranced with her words?
5. Use your imagination to change your mood and to keep your mind too occupied to be self-conscious.
You could for example imagine that the people you are talking to are wearing no clothes or inappropriate clothes. Why not have some fun, feel good and still enjoy a good conversation?
You owe it to yourself to find as many ways as possible to feel good. As I have said before excellent communication skills are more dependant on your mental and emotional states than on clever language patterns.
6. Use affirmations to condition a new belief about your ability to be relaxed and other conscious. For example:
- I am fascinated by the way people talk
- I give my complete attention to whoever I talk to
- I am an excellent conversationalist
- I feel fantastic when I meet new people
Use these 6 tips each day and you will be amazed at how quickly you become more confident with others.

Q: I'm applying for Baskin Robbins, and I was just wondering if there's a higher chance of me getting a summer job if I turn it in this month as opposed to turning it in the week before summer starts. Because I told my friend I was going to apply tomorrow, & she just told me to wait until the summer to apply.
Also, does anyone know any other place I could apply that hires 15 year olds? (Something like restaurants/fast food/etc)
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
I would fill out the application now, because in the summer, someone could already be hired.
Now, as for your other question:
Start researching. Find organizations and other places that you know pay teens to work. Good places to check are government departments and nonprofit organizations such as City Park and Recreation Departments, Zoos, Museums, Camps, and Hospitals. Also try looking for work in fast-food restaurants.
Use your connections. Talk to friends and family about any paying jobs they might know of, and follow through.
Don't be afraid to volunteer. Sometimes, the best way to get a paying job is to begin as a volunteer and work your way up. You may have to give some of your time for free to make money in the long run.
Apply early! The most important key to getting jobs with these places is to apply as soon as you hear about jobs. Always be on the lookout--sometimes recruitment starts as early as February or March for summer jobs.
Take initiative. Many agencies and organizations get grants to hire teens in the summer and after school. Even if they typically hire kids who are already volunteering for them, you never know. Contact them to find out what is available.
Demonstrate your skills. If you are a good worker, you will have a greater chance of being hired because they already know your work, they aren't just reading someone's application. You can show organizations that you are a good worker through volunteering or through references.
Increase your earnings. After working at the entry level position for a few summers or after school, you will the have the experience to work at a higher level once you are out of High School. This can help you pay your way through college, and you can practically guarantee you'll always have a summer job. In some cases (in the S.F.Bay Area), you could go from getting minimum wage to getting $15-17/hr.
Tips
Don't try fancy restaurants and sales outlets, just try fast food and places with high turn-over.
Get the word out. You can post flyers in your neighbhorhood detailing jobs that you can do, such as lawn mowing, babysitting, or dog-walking. You can also post your information on a website or job board, but beware of giving out personal information until you trust the other person.
Once you've done good work for someone, ask if you can use them as a reference for future jobs.
Treat your volunteer work as if it were a paying job -- get there on time, call as soon as you know you can't come in or are going to be late. Listen and learn about the organization. Do such a good job they learn to rely on you.
Employers can often tell within the first week if you are going to be a good employee.
* Try to get a job in something that you are interested in, as it may help you get a career later in life!
Warnings
If you get a job at someone's house, always tell your parents where you are going to be, better yet, have them drop you off and meet the person. Trust your gut... if something doesn't feel right, leave. If something happens to you, get some help.
Hope this helps.

Q: A married man who I have known for a couple of years, and used to be friends with him and his wife phoned me up recently and asked me if I wanted to meet him in another city. He was getting his trailer hitched to his truck and said it was going to take a couple of hours. He said if I picked him up, while he was waiting for the trailer to be hitched that he would treat me to lunch and we could go shopping, and he'd pay for my gas. When I picked him up he said that he didnt want me to tell anyone we were doing this. First we went to the mall (remember this is in another city). He walked VERY close to me, we could have been joined at the hip. After when we went to a restaurant for lunch, he never mentioned his wife once, and instead was asking me personal questions about where I was going to meet Mr. Right. He was being very flirtatious, and I caught him staring at me romantically. When we got back into my car for the drive back to the trailer he watched me suck on a sucker from the restaurant and told me I had a "sucker fetish". I felt it was a very sexual thing to say. He was also staring at my lips when I applied lip gloss and looked like he was getting turned on.
So my question is, would this be considered cheating on his wife? Although we never had sex? I'm feeling really guilty.

Feeling Guilty,
Of course you may feel guilty, but like it's your fault! I wouldn't consider it "cheating", but it was the wrong thing of him to do. Anything else? Inbox is open.

Q: last sunday this girl was at my house and we were just friends. We were watching a movie and we started holding hands and cuddling. Well later she put her number in my phone. so i called her a few days later and she's like "so uhh why did you call?" and we talked for like a half an hour but it was mostley alkward scilences and stuff. it just seemed like she didnt want to talk to me at all and now im confused now if she likes me or not. What do you guys think?

Mm, it's hard to say. She was [most likely] inncoently flirting and was thinking you wouldn't call because a guy would "never call". I would say she doesn't like you, because she's probably someone who goes around doing that to all the guys, and guys just play along with that.

Q: hi i've found a bunch of RANDOM unwanted clothes in my closet (a denim jacket, a cheap renasance dress costume, silver sequin gaucho pants thing, a mini tennis skirt type thing(gray).....) what are some good ideas of what i could do with these?

Donate, or create your own look by clipping or sewing.
Set aside some time to go through your closet and/or dresser and pull out anything you are tired of, hate, or never wear. Put these clothes into a pile (or a box if you are super neat).
Pick one item at a time to recycle (or re-vamp) and find one thing you like about it. Maybe it has super fabric, a great print, or the style is awesome. If you can't find anything good about it, put it aside for now and choose something else.
Decide if you can embellish it in some way to spice it up (paint, beads, extra fabric, trim, lengthen it, etc.) or if you can deconstruct it into something else (take off sleeves, shorten it, slash it for peek-a-boo effect with fabric underneath or without, iron on a transfer that you printed from your computer, etc). Maybe you can dye it a different color (or colors).
Look on the internet and in magazines for inspiration and how-to's. Some terms to do searches on are "deconstructed clothing" and "D.I.Y." (do-it-yourself). Great sites are listed below, too, but don't forget to look on your own - there are lots of ideas and how-to's out there!
Learn to sew, but if you're really bad with crafty things, don't despair! Try alternative methods like using safety pins instead of sewing, for example. You can probably get help from a friend or a relative that sews if you ask.
Sell or give away the items that you absolutely can't find anything you like about them or think of anything to do with them.
Have fun! Make something that is uniquely yours and that you just love. Then when someone gives you a compliment, or asks you where you got that amazing shirt/dress/etc., proudly say "I made it myself!"
Tips
Focusing on one item at a time helps you to actually complete what you start and doesn't make you feel overwhelmed.
Don't do too much to an item. Less is usually more for embellishment and making things too short or with too many holes is not in good taste.
If you are not sure you will like the result, practice on something else so you don't regret it.
You can get fabric cheap in remnant bins at places like Wal-mart and also from other clothes you either have around or get from thrift stores or garage/yard/rummage/car boot sales.
If you don't like what you did or think it isn't good enough, first check to make sure you aren't being too hard on yourself and then try to figure out what you could have done differently to make it better. If you still don't like it, maybe you can fix it or even recycle it further.
Start out with easy projects and work your way up to more complex ones if you are not confident at first.
Warnings
Use protective equipment when using tools or machinery and obey safety rules (goggles when hammering in grommets for example).
Watch out for your friends because 9 times out of 10, they are going to love what you made or did and will want you to do it for them! Better to show them how to do it themselves (give them the link to this article) than to spend all your time on their clothes when you could be doing your own!
This can get addicting (but it's fun and not too expensive) so always be on the lookout for new clothes to recycle!
Things You'll Need
Clothes
Time
Optional: Sewing machine or needle and thread, scissors, beads, paint, iron on transfer paper for your printer, basically general crafting items and tools.

Well ever since we started try-outs I've been eating more! I eat like 2 dinners; After breakfast (while I'm at school) I get so hungry, and even after lunch I'll get hungry in like an hour.

Heyyyy, I'm jess. I love to help other people, no matter what. I've been through enough bs to know when to just stop and walk away. I don't judge; feel free to ask me anything. I have quite the temper. But, what makes me a good advice-giver is that for the most part, I'm genuinely empathetic and willing to help.
(:
I've had a lot of experiences with piercings, bullying, family problems, and even sexual issues (no std's)- but with the emotional part of it. I love music, so I give good, basic advice about that, too. Also, I deal with severe anxiety and depression, and have been in treatment numerous times. On top of that, I have OCD (Obsessive Complulsive Disorder), and because I've been around people addicted to drugs, or cutting, I can help! Just give me the chance.
