okay so Friday i got my first period and i didnt go to school. its really gross because its like a REALLY heavy flow and it is just so gross. i have pads like carefree original.. but i dont like them. i mean they dont work well and i keep getting stains and its so gross. i dont like the brand im using and find it so gross about like the flow and everything. and im so worried like i have school on monday and this is my first period. like what the heck am i suppose to do? like .. wear am i suppose to put the pad and stuff. i dont even want to use a pad but like i guess im kind of embarresed to ask my mom to go get me tampons. and even if i DID have tampons to try like firstly, i would have no idea what to do like to get them in and like when to change them ect. AND like what brand would be good because i have like sports and crap. this is so overwelming for me because its my first time. and ALSO i hate the feeling i have like when like theres a flow because i just like feel so dirty (and since i have been grounded for like a week i've been home alot) and i just like take a bath and stuff and i feel clean. like this whole thing is just ew.
any advice??
ew. =]
Welcome to the life of being a woman. :) I know it feels disgusting, but just wash yourself as often as you can. Working your period into your school at first is a bit overwhelming. First off, if you want to use tampons (which I highly recommend, they're so much "cleaner" & easier), talk to your mom. You shouldn't feel embarassed to ask to buy tampons because every woman gets their period & needs them. It's completely natural & I highly doubt your mother will make a big deal about it. Since you mentioned you play sports, you can get the Playtex Sports tampons designed for women who obviously play sports & need more protection. If not that, I'd suggest Tampax Pearl. Eventually, you'll learn to know more about your period & how often you'll need to change your pad/tampon. If your period is somewhat heavy, I'd suggest changing after couple-few hours. For lighter days, you can go for a little longer. If you decide to use tampons & your period is pretty heavy to the point where you're scare of leaks, use a pantyliner as well. But if you're absolutely set on the idea of sticking with pads (which are more "dirtier" & gross in my opinion), stick with an overnight pad for heavy days. I'd suggest carrying a purse or even a makeup bag with some tampons/pads to change in between classes. If you don't want to carry a purse & don't have anywhere else to put them in, just leave them in your locker & slip one in your pocket before heading to the restroom. Just read the tampon box for instructions. I know at first it seems difficult, but with a couple attempts, you'll have it down in no time. Good luck! :)
Okay, well Im 16. I'm 5'6 and 130lbs. The doctor tells me my weight should be 140 for my height and that Im actually underweight, but at the same time, all my weights concentrated in my stomach, hips, and thighs, so I think I'm on the chunky side. Anyways, I just recently started going to aerobics class and trying to eat healthy. I want to lose 10 pounds, like within 2 weeks if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions. [starvation and pills and puking aren't something Im interested in]. I want to lose weight and keep it off. Thankss
I completly know how to feel about being at a healthy weight, but feeling chunky because all your weight is focused on those couple of areas. In order to lose weight & keep it off, you need to change your lifestyle - which would include your eating habits & exercise routines. Here are some tips:
- I know that if you replace 2 of your meals with Special K cereal, you can lose up to 7 lbs in 2 weeks.
- Stay away from fast food & any type of junk, sugary foods.
- Quit drinking soda & start drink atleast 7-8 glasses of water a day. I quit soda for a week or two & lost atleast 5 lbs. The amount of sugar & carbonation in soda is ridiculous!
- Eat healthy. Don't completely cut carbs out because your body needs them for energy. But make sure you're not getting too many servings a day. Eat plenty of protein, fruits & veggies.
- Instead of eating 3 meals a day, eat 5 small ones. When you eat more often, your body will get into the habit of burning off those calories right away because it knows you're going to eat shortly later. If you wait longer in between meals, your body will store that fat because it doesn't expect to eat until way later. Basically, eating smaller meals more often speeds up your metabolism.
- Don't eat less than 3 hours before you go to bed.
- Take your vitamins to make sure you're getting the right nutrients to keep you moving through your day.
- Do atleast 30 min-1 hour of cardio 4 times a week.
- Try getting up to 300-500 crunches a day - even if it's not all at one time. If you can't do that amount right away, gradually increase them. I've read somewhere that after about 500-1000 crunches a day it's pointless, but I used to do that many a day & I saw results within a week or two.
- Sleep atleast 7-8 hrs a night. A lack of sleep can actually have a negative effect on your body & eventually make you gain weight.
- & most importantly, make all this a routine. If you slack off, it'll take longer to see results.
Hope that helped! :)
so the problem is that I AM A GIRL and i hate other girls. i can't stand them. i think their so weird and discusting. and i am a girl myself. and i only have guy friends. and i only like guys.
seriously i think guys are the only normal creatures in this world. and it makes me so angry hearing girls talking about girl stuff. it's just SO anoying. and when they scream cause they are so excited over something. it always makes me pissed. and seriously i am obsessed with guys. i dress like a guy , i act like a guy a lot , and i only have guy friends , and i am so crazy about guys haha
and i don't get myself.
is this behavior normal? or am i a weird person?
There's nothing wrong with not being able to tolerate most girls. Surprisingly, almost every girl can agree with you on that. I know I can! So to answer your question, no you are not weird. Just keep an open mind that not every girl is the like-omg-screeching kind of girl. There are girls out there who are exactly like you who can't tolerate that type either! & I'm sure you can build some kind of friendship with those as long as you don't judge every single girl. :)
i've had my license two months.
today, i turned left on RED.
:(
i have trouble telling left and right sometimes
i know, i'm 16. i dont know whyyyy.
so i wasn't thinking. all i did was look for cars. no cars were coming.
i made the turn.
when the turn was finished, i realized that i had just turned LEFT. :(
do you think im going to get a ticket in the mail?
IM SOOO WORRIED.
unbelieveably worried.
please help.
Some cities/areas, such as mine, have cameras at intersections for red light runners. If they had one up at that intersection, you'll most likely see the flash & get one in the mail. Just be careful next time & remember in order to turn left, you need to have a green arrow or yield to oncoming traffic with a solid green light.
I want a bathing suit at victoria secret. I'm only a 32A,and I know im getting a push up one. but i'd like to know, does it make a difference if i get the molded cup or if i get the removable padding? i don't want it to look like i'm wearing a bra..
The molded cup will look more "fake" compared to the removable padding. You can still get push up tops that'll give you cleavage, without needing that cup. Try a wireless push up top (removable padding) in these two styles:

if you have your periods can doing excercise make them lighter?
I know people who are highly involved in sports or who dance will have irregular cycles. I am not certain if there's any connection between exercise & lighter periods though. I do know that exercising can help your cramps. The best thing to do is talk to a gynecologist or a doctor. If you really want to lighten your period, birth control is an option you can look into. But other than that, I'm not sure of any other solution.
ok so there is this reallllyyy creepy guy at my school. his name is dave and he used to go out with one of my good friends. the two broke up and my friend told me he is creepy and smokes and is just weird. so lately hes been trying to get with me and he sends me messages over myspace and tells me im sexy and we should go out. and then i dont reply, so he like, finds me in the halls and asks me why i dont reply and we should go out. IM SO CREEPED OUT BY HIM. i dont know what to say. i want him to leave me alone because hes bad news but im so afraid hes like, going to be pissed and do something bad if i tell him "sick. no." haha. please help
You can get the message across without sounding rude. Just straight out tell him you are interested & walk away. I wouldn't joke about it like these other people are suggesting. He might think you're flirting with him & might continue to ask you. If he continues to harass you & bother you after you give him an answer, report it to the principal or administrator. Block him on myspace (so he can't contact you) & put your page on private if it's not already. If he has the nerve to find you in the halls & continue to ask you about going out, it's possible he can turn out to be a little obsessive. Who knows if you want your page (basically, your life) online, viewable by him at anytime.
I am wondering what to get my long distance boyfriend for valentines day. We have been together on and off for a little over a year now and we agreed this valentines day that we would not spend a lot on eachother since that is money we can put towards seeing eachother when we are on breaks from school. Neither one of us is super romantic so I don't really want anything too mushy.
Any ideas of what I could do for him for Valentines day?
Send him a small stuffed animal/bear sprayed with your perfume..so he'll feel like you're there with him. :) (Maybe include that on a card.) It's inexpensive, it's still cute, & I'm sure he'll appreciate it!
if I were straddling my boyfriend, and I moved my hips into his, would it most likely hurt him or would it feel good for him?
Yes, most guys like this as long as it's not done for too long. After awhile it'll become a little too sensitive & won't do anything for him. But if he happens to not like it, he'll either tell you or move to another position. No big deal, just give it a shot! :)
I just had the greatest date ever. I know a guy at school, and we've talked on a few occasions for an hour or two at a time. Anyway, we had a wonderful date tonight, and of course, ended up making out. A lot. We talked a lot too, but ooh my god, i don't know where to get started with the making out part. Anyway, we sat on a stairwell and started making out, and I ended up sitting on his lap, straddling him, which felt so good and comfortable for both of us. But i don't know if I got carried away or not. I was kissing his neck and touching the top of his chest. And when he dropped me off, we made out in the car for a good 15 minutes or so. ANd I don't know...is all of this generally appropriate on a first date, even if you totally get along with the person?
There's no rule out there saying what's appropriate and & what's not appropriate for the first date. It's your personal decision on how far you want to go (& if he's comfortable with it as well.) Since you both seem to be alright with making out, then there should be no problem! If you want MY opinion, I don't think there's anything wrong making out with the person if you're both attracted to each other. (Anything further is out of the question FOR ME.) But others may not be believe in anything on the first date. Like I said, it's YOUR personal choice! Glad you had a good date. :)
Okay so last night me and my boyfriend were together and he sucked my boob/nipple[not to be like graphic]. Now i have what looks like a hickey but i'm not sure. it's all blood looking and bruised, and it kinda hurts.
should i be concerned or is this like normal?
No, THAT'S a hickey. & there's nothing to be worried about. It'll go away in a couple-few days.
Okay im only 14!! turning 15 in a few months..well anyways me and my boyfriend have been going out for about a year and we`re still virgins and my mom is all like "you are getting birth control" and i say"no i dont want it" and i dont get why my mom wants me to be on it so bad. i mean me and my boyfriend obviously talked about it but im not ready to lose it till im about 16 going on 17.. and my mom keeps pressuring me and another reason why i dont want to do it is cause it makes you fat.. how do i get her to stop!!. please help me
Your mother clearly wants you to be safe & protected & that's great! Just have a talk with her & tell her everything you just said to us. Tell her you aren't ready to have sex & don't plan to do anything until you are a certain age (& when you're ready.) Also, reassure her that when you do decide to become sexually active, you will talk to her then about getting on birth control. Even if you aren't sexually active, birth control is still great to look into. I used to be on it (& plan to get back on it soon) & it definitely helped my periods & cramps. Weight gain is a side effect, but not everyones body will react the same. Infact, I noticed I maintained my weight (even lost a few lbs) while I was on it. It all depends on the person. But if you ever decide to get on birth control & you are experiencing problems with the brand you are on, talk to your gynecologist & they can switch you to another one. The person who responded below me doesn't really know what they are talking about. (Yes, you can switch brands if one doesn't work out & no, you do not need to be on birth control for the rest of your life.) Hope that helped. :)
okay well im 13 years old and in sept i weighed 150.
now i weigh 120 and i still want to lose weight.
i work out and stuff and do the same stuff i did to lose the last 30 pounds but i just cant seem to lose any more. i rly wanna weigh like 105-110 by the summer.
how can i do this?
please help. nothing is working.
There's actually a point some people get to where they can't lose anymore weight. You can increase your work out sessions, but don't expect to lose much more. I think 120 is a perfect weight & you should be happy you lost that much. Congrats by the way. :)
Ok..soo im 17/F and all my friends have had sex or have done sexual things. And of course im the one that hasnt at all. I just dont want to do that right now..im not focused on that. Im focused on other things and i dotn even think about it. But my friends are making me feel like that i should be doing that stuff..that like im a freak if i dont. And now i think..am i really a freak? What do you think about this and what should i do?
I can't believe that your friends are actually making you feel that way; that's horrible. There's absolutely nothing wrong with you, so don't even question whether you're a "freak" or not. Honestly, I didn't even have my first kiss till I was 17. It's *your* personal choice, not your friends. You have other things going for you & it's great you aren't worked up about that kind of stuff. All I can tell you is: don't change yourself to meet your friends' "approval." Tell them it's your personal decision & your business & if they can't accept that, then are they really your friends?
hey everyone. does anyone know where i can buy fake designer sunglasses online? preferably inexpensive ones. thanksss =]
Ebay or at those little shops @ the mall.
k so i got my girlfriend a gift for valentines day . . .
anyway i'm not gonna be able to see her on valentine's, but i will see her the friday after. . . her school's got a dance and we're going . .
anyway i want to know: should i put it in the mail or just give it to her a couple days after?
thanks
If you want to surprise her, send it in the mail. If it's something you want to give to her in person, wait. I'm sure she won't have any problem waiting a couple days. :)
Okay so I am the biggest complainer EVER. I complain about EVERYTHING, like when I'm talking to someone, without even thinking I just start going on a complaining rant. Idk why, my life isn't that bad and other people are probably thinking that I have a horrible life or something. Ahh. It's just a bad habit, though... sometimes, I try my hardest to act all sunny and positive but in reality I'm just pessimistic and I HATE it! I wish I could just appreciate my life and not complain so much because I know it can be much worse. And now everyone feels all bad for me because I always complain and they're like "aww, I'm sorry you're sad" or whatever. I don't want people feeling bad for me! How can I stop complaining and being so negative??
It's alright to complain every now & then, but eventually people are going to get sick of it if it's all the time. Just start thinking about what you say before you say it. If it's something negative, write it down in a journal instead of saying it outloud. Once you have everything negative written down, review it & come up with solutions to turn that complaint into something positive. :)
I'm 14 and I'm a good kid.
I don't drink, smoke, do drugs, and I even
get good grades. My best friend was in a big
drinking phase and they knew about it. Even
though they know I've never drank before,
they've been treating me like I'm five for the
past month or so. (After not drinking for
almost 7 months) my best friend drank one time again, and they found out, so I can understand why they wouldn't trust her, but me and them have talked and they understand that
I won't do anything like that!
Whenever I try to make plans, they won't
let me go anywhere or they guilt me and tell me
how much of a hassle it is. They make me come
home before 6 and they ask so many questions they
don't need to be asking. Its really frustrating
because they didn't used to be like this and
we used to be really close. I've never done
anything bad and they treat me like a criminal!
How do I get things back to normal?
I'll assume when you use the word "they" you are referring to your parents. If you aren't doing anything wrong, then what do you have to hide? Answer their questions & do what they tell you to do. It may be annoying, but you're only 14 & you're not going to see complete freedom for awhile. But if you stick by their rules & respect the fact that they love you & are just looking out for you, then they'll eventually back off. In the meantime, keep up what you're doing. They'll realize they're lucky to have a good kid & you'll have more freedom in the end. Trust me! :)
Lately I've been so depressed. I'm 15 yrs old and started highschool. My life is a wreck. I feel like I'm always stressed and don't feel like I wanna live anymore. Eventhough I wouldn't commit suicide. I find myself writting depressing poems and just crying sometimes for no reason. My life isn't the happies life a girl would wish for. My parents are always fighting. They're always in bad moods and take it on me and my 18 year old sister. I hate it!. Also I feel like I have no real friends. Like they really donet care about me. Also my boyfriend that I really cared about broke up with me for no reason and now he wnats another chance. Sometimes I feel like he cares other times I don't. And I don't know what to do. I feel so stressed and like no one really cares about me. My parents work all the time and never have time for me and when we do talk we always end up fighting so I can't talk to them. I have no one to talk to. I hate my life. Please help.
Well I can begin by saying that just about every teenager feels the same way you do at some point. Be thankful for the things you do have - food in your stomach, clothes on your back & a roof over your head. There are people out there who are less fortunate & would die to have their parents in their life. Also, whether you believe it or not, there are more people that care about you than you realize. Maybe it doesn't seem like it, but they do. High school is a new opportunity to meet a lot of new people. I know I didn't have too many close or real friends before then. But I met a lot of people & I know you can too. Find something you like to do, like maybe pick up a sport @ school. It's a healthy way to release stress & meet new people. If sports aren't your thing, try a club. Do something you enjoy to do to keep your mind of things at home. About your boyfriend - I can't tell you what to do. If you aren't happy in a relationship, try changing or working on things that you don't like about it. & if they can't be fixed, then maybe it's not meant to be. I know you feel like your life is a wreck, but if you have any desire to change those things that can make it better, it'll be alright in the end! You just have to be willing to make an effort & change your outlook on a few things. If you want to be happy, you can be. Keep your head up, keep smiling & if you ever need anyone to talk to, leave a message in my inbox. :) Hang in there, girl!
i am way to upsessed with my appearance it is starting to ruin my life i cant go 30 minutes without looking in a mirror and when i do im always depressed because i am so ugly but no one thinks that but me i mean all my friends say i am really pretty and i have alot of guys that like me but i never seems to get that i am pretty through my mind because there is always someone prettier that gets all the attention and it makes me feel really ugly i feel ugly all the time i don't know what my problem is but i think i got a real upsetting depression problem or something what can i do to get over how i look and how my face looks and stuff please help me i have struggled with these problems for about 2 years and i can tell that everyone notices this problem what can i do to get over my appearance
Most girls will struggle with their appearance because there's always someone who's going to be prettier. But just because someone next to you may be more attractive, doesn't make you ugly (or the ugliest person). There are a lot of girls who are probably looking at you & feeling the same way. The truth is - you can't always compare yourself to others. Other girls may be more beautiful on the outside, but who knows if they have a personality as wonderful as yours. Instead of always looking down on yourself when you come across someone more attractive - look at your own features. Quit focusing on your own flaws (& that others don't have) & focus on the things you love about yourself. :)
