What is music without harmony? Verily it is not music. Life without goodwill and fraternity - what is it? Indeed it is not life. He has not truly lived who has not lived for others, in sympathy and in harmony with his fellows.

ok well to start off im a guy and i've just started working out.i do sit ups, push ups, lift weights and all that other stuff. but what i need help on is with the sit ups. the problem is that i do the situps and i only think that it works in the lower abdominal area and i want it to work on my abdominal sides and upper abdominal too. is there any way that i can do something to work the sidesand upper part that actually works?also i have a flabby chest and i was wondering how i can get rid of it.oh yea and is it normal to feel soar in the muscle area of your arms, legs, and stomache the next day after working out. (link)

For a more challenging sit-up, try the elevated-leg technique. Lie down on your back with your hips straight up and your lower legs resting on a bench or chair. Your knees should be at a 90 degree angle with your thighs perpendicular to the floor and your lower legs parallel to the floor. You will find that your hip flexing muscles cannot assist you as much in these sit-ups, forcing your abdominals (rectus abdominis) to do more of the work. To work your obliques (sides), do the same exercise, but bring a shoulder towards the opposite knee on the way up (Note that you won't be able to actually touch your shoulder to your knee - please don't try!). Elevated-leg sit-ups can be quite challenging, so try not to overdo it on the first few tries.
For the flabby chest, the old cliche "diet and exercise" is the only way to go. You need to find a balance between how much energy (Calories) you take in through food and drink during the day and how much energy you use. To get rid of the flab, you have to use more energy than you take in. It's up to you to decide how much of that is eating less (and better) and how much of it is being more physically active.
Yes, it's very normal to feel sore a day or two after working out, especially if you're just beginning. If you keep working out, you will notice the soreness less and less, and you may even begin to enjoy it.

TOTAL MIXED SIGNALS!
my crush and I, we IM:ed earlier today..
and he went "you're so perfect for me, we like the same movies, songs, everything" and i was soooo happy because of that, but i had to go offline, so i said bye, but then i realized id rather talk to him than do anything else.. so i went online again, and he blocked me! my friend said he was still online, but he "went offline" as soon as i logged in.. WHYY? i cant ask him about this, so do i just NOT talk to him until he talks to me? or what? (link)
|
Blocking isn't always an indicator that someone doesn't like you. He might be blocking you because he doesn't know what to say right now and needs time to think. If you don't hear from him in a few days, try sending him a friendly e-mail asking how he's doing and saying that you've missed talking to him.

Hey everyone I do not know what to do. My boyfriend and I have been dating like 3 years and we have been having sex a while now. But recently whenever we start a few times after he goes in and out he gets these headaches and if he continues they get worse. I can not figure out what to do to help him..and its gotta be the sex cause once we stop 2 minutes later he is fine. We are trying to fix these..so please tell me anything that you think may help.
btw-dont waste your time by telling me dont have sex..i want answers not your opinion on whether or not sex is ok to have.
thanks
ps-please hurry I am worried about him (link)
|
I've never heard of anything like this, but you may want to do some investigating and find out if any other activities give him similar headaches. For instance, see if any other activities that raise his heart rate or blood pressure give him headaches. It may also be a psychological problem. In any case, he should see a doctor if the problem persists.

How many minutes is 3.27 GB? (link)
|
You must first understand that a gigabyte is a measure of computer storage capacity and not a measure of time. In MP3 format, a typical 3 minute song is about 4 megabytes. So, 3.27 gigabytes would be about 815 to 840 minutes, depending on compression/bit rates, etc. for MP3s. I am not aware of the compression ratios for m4a audio, which is becoming more common with the use of iPods and iTunes.

how do you explain to a kid their pet died?
they went to live on a farm with all the other pets? (link)
|
I think it's best to tell the truth. Young children may not be able to fully grasp the concept of death, but being exposed to it early in life can help them deal with it later on. On a positive note, having the child's first experience with death be a pet could help ease them into the concept and prepare them for the inevitable deaths of friends and family members.

Hi, I was wondering what quick and cheap (no buying porducts or videos) way to lose fat in the abdomen, thighs, and calves [sp?] School starts on the 5th and I know that I won't see much results by then but I want to lose as much weight. I'v already lost about 4.5lbs in a month so I know that I can do it. Also what are great exercises (other than crunches) for toning your abs? I would also like to strengthen my arms. I have like no arm strenght...at all. =) I won't give you guys 1's for not answering all the questions. I'm just hoping that all my questions will be answered by 1 or more people =] Thanks (link)
|
There is no specific exercise that can target fat in your abdomen, thighs, calves, or anywhere else. As you lose fat, your body will naturally lose it from certain places based on your own genetic makeup. Basically, spot-trimming is impossible. Any aerobic exercise combined with proper diet (cliche, I know) will help you lose fat. For quality exercise information, check out http://www.exrx.net

15/m does it matter how much a guy ejaculates or is it more of a pleasure kind of thing? (link)
|
How often or how much should not matter. Ejaculating all the time or not at all should have no positive or negative effects on health or well-being. Other than procreation (which I'm sure you're not planning on at 15), ejaculation/orgasm is just pleasure and serves no other important function. You may notice that your mood/libido will change depending on how often you masturbate/ejaculate.

how many calories do you have to burn to lose a pound? (link)
|
3500 is correct - 1 pound of fat is roughly 3500 calories of energy. The average person can use 100 calories by running or walking a mile. That may not seem like much, but by increasing your energy expenditure by 250 calories a day and decreasing your energy intake by 250 calories a day, you can lose one pound of fat in one week.

to become a physical therapist can you major in kinesiology? or is there something else you major in? (link)
|
It depends on the school you attend. At Illinois State University, I'm pursuing a degree in Exercise Science, which is one way to begin studying for Physical Therapy. Degrees like this one require additional, more specific schooling, while other degrees at different schools are designed specifically for physical therapy. If you wish to become a physical therapist, contact the university or college you plan to attend and ask for information regarding their physical therapy program(s).

ok well today i just got the ab lounge 2 i want to no if it really works and if it does should i do it 10 minutes a day? or what
thanks
(link)
|
The Ab Lounge might "work" in that it might help you to tone and strengthen your abdominals, but it is not a realistic measure for weight loss and getting that lean stomach that everyone seems to want. You should start slow and do it for as long as you are comfortable, then wait a day or two to see how sore it makes you and increase or decrease your workout intensity from there. Honestly, I have no confidence in a piece of exercise equipment with the word "lounge" in the name.

Hi.
We have these profile thingys to fill out for our yearbook, and there's a box that you put them in. Well, I got curious (Shouldn't have done this, I know) put my hand in, and grabbed one out. I wanted to see what other people had said before I did mine. Well, by some amazing stroke of fate, the one I picked up had mentioned my name.. under "Idol" the person had put my name.. and then said "Just kidding.. I idolize how long shes survived having her face run over by cars"
I barely even know this girl and I've done NOTHING to her. I was very upset reading this. I KNOW the yearbook people would put this in.. because they have stupid questions like "person you want to hunt down" and stuff, so they're encouraging that kind of thing. I still have the profile form. Should I rip it up, so she misses out on having her profile in the yearbook? Or should I do the "right" thing and put it back in the box? I'm sorta upset about this and I don't know what to do. If it gets in there, it'll be around for years.. you know how long yearbooks last and I would never live it down.
Thanks for your help. (link)
|
In your situation, I would return the form to its rightful place, but also consult school faculty about the offensive nature of some of the questions like "person you want to hunt down." Hopefully that will get more faculty involved in censoring things inappropriate for the year book.

ok.i broke my finger.long story how but any way.i got a splint or brace on it and i cant take it of except when i take a shower and that is every single day.well when i take it off the splint it smells like dirty shoes.i washed my hands over and over and the smell goes away but as soon as i put my finger back in the splint it smells again.i tried washing the brace but that does not work.i was wondering if there r any ways 2 get the smell gone.
thanxxxs (link)
|
I have a similar problem with a splint on my leg. I've been covering the smell with Axe body spray. If you spray your splint with something like Axe or Tag after you take it off and let it sit while you're in the shower, the smell should at least be less potent and, over time, go away completely.

so lets say someone has a dildo, right?

Like Xenolan said, viruses won't last long on a surface like that. However, bacterial infections are still a possibility, though unlikely. If you or someone you know thinks they are at risk, the person in question should definitely get tested.

I really like the Virgin Mary tattoos. I think they look really good. Problem is, I'm a Christian and as you know, the Virgin Mary, is a Cathelect (sp) thing.
Do you think it would be wronge for me to get one even though I'm a Christian?
P.S;; I'm 26 and have other tattoos. So please, don't lecture me about them or anything.
Thanks. =] (link)
|
First of all, Roman Catholics are Christians, even though many of them consider themselves Catholics first. It's quite a warped perception, but it's a sad truth. While Roman Catholics have a higher reverence for Mary than other Christian denominations (some going as far as believing she was without sin and remained a virgin for her entire life, and others going even further and believing her to be a deity), Mary is still an important figure in Christianity. If you are a non-Roman Catholic Christian (as I am), there is nothing wrong with getting a tattoo of the virgin Mary. However, think about your reasons for wanting one. It's one thing to get the tattoo because you wish to honor the earthly mother of Christ, or even if you just like the look of it. It's another thing entirely to buy into the idea that she was without sin or was in any way more than human. If nothing else, pray about it.

Hey .. yeah I'm looking to lose fat mass .. so if there's anything like a sort of diet/work out you can recommend I do, that'd be great. Thanks. (link)
|
Well there's no specific "diet" I can recommend because the fad diets you see and hear about are all worthless. The best dietary plan for anyone is exactly what experts have been preaching for years: eating meals that have a good balance between fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. A great, free resource is http://www.mypyramid.gov/ On the exercise side of things, the basic idea for fat loss is to use more energy than you take in through eating. Swimming is GREAT exercise. I would encourage as much pool time as you can get. If the pool is large enough, swimming laps is excellent for using energy and building strength without getting too bulky. The only down side of swimming is that people often don't utilize their lower body as much as they could. While swimming, do try as much as possible to use your legs as much as your arms. It's too bad that you're not interested in walking and jogging, because they are about the best things that the average person can do to use energy. For more pool exercise that's not as boring as swimming laps, there are a great deal of water aerobics you can try. Think about basic aerobic exercises you might do on the floor and try them in the pool. Some exercises need modification to be effective and challenging in the pool, while others will be more difficult to begin with. Another good route for a home workout is Pilates. A good Pilates video would be a worthwhile investment, as would a visit to a local health club to get basic information on how to do Pilates exercises safely. Best of luck to you, and please be sensible with diet and exercise. I hope this has been helpful.

i am 13, 14 on friday; about 5 foot; i weigh 110. i know that i'm not fat, but i'm self consious about my thighs and also, i have a pocket of fat in my lower stomach area. i'm looking to lose 15 pounds. anyone have any diet/excercise plans?
thanks in advance. (link)
|
I can offer you all kinds of exercise information and advice if you'd like, but for now I think you really need advice on your goal. Please don't set a goal of any weight that you would like to lose. Instead of a scale, let a mirror define your goals. I would encourage you to not step on a scale at all while you're trying to change the way you look. Instead, just look at the differences in the mirror and in how your clothes look and feel on you. Let me know if you want my help in designing an exercise plan. I'd be happy to help in any way.

The fan on my computer's power supply has stopped working. I'd rather not replace it because I bought it quite recently. Is there anything else i can do? I'm able to keep the computer from overheating at the moment (the case is off and a fan is blowing into it but this is hardly ideal). Any help would be appreciated. (link)
|
As already mentioned, cleaning the fan may be the solution. Shooting some compressed air into the fan would loosen up any dust/dirt/etc. If cleaning the fan does nothing, then you either need to fix or replace the fan, or try other methods of cooling. I've seen some interesting pc projects on the internet that involve liquid cooling. If you're willing to put some time, effort, and creativity into the problem, you can create a cooling system that does not rely on fans. Replacing the fan would still be the easiest solution because fans are rather inexpensive.

i use mozilla firefox and theres always popups that are like clean your computer with this or like ur computer is infected, try this program! well i also use ad-aware SE and everytime i run a scan, the popups still come.. how can i stop them?!?! (link)
|
Newer versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer have a built-in Pop-up Blocker that works well for me. It is probably only a matter of time until Mozilla provides a similar feature. Keep checking for Mozilla updates and you will probably get lucky sometime soon.

during the day im realy bored. around here there is a basketball court but thats it. im trying to find something to do!!! inside or out. thankx. (link)

I share your problem - I was recently injured and am now confined to my house. There are plenty of things to do on the internet such as games, humor sites, and looking up information on anything that interests you. If you don't want to be on your computer all day, think of what hobbies might interest you. Learning to play a musical instrument can take much time and is a great cure for boredom. If nothing else, going for a long walk is good exercise and helps you to become more familiar with your area.
