Hey, I'm Samm and I'm 15-year-old freshman at Downingtown East High School. I've got a pretty average teenage life, except I'm in no way your average person. I doubt you'll ever meet someone exactly like me.



Feel free to drop one by in my inbox and I'll tell you what to do to the of my best ability in any situation. But remember, if it doesn't seem right, then don't do it. It's only my advice, not me telling you what to do.

Ok, so you diss a guy, then think the opposite because you're overly-horny. You're using him, that's NOT cool! I mean, if you're really digging him then I guess you should talk to him and stuff.. maybe you could ask him out after getting friendly with him again. If you two are boyfriend and girlfriend.. then go out. And kiss.

Okay.. well, there's this guy at my school and his locker is near my homeroom. Everytime I go into my homeroom or am standing outside of the door waiting for my friend, I see him checking me out. He's REALLY hott and I want to make a move, but I don't know what I would say, or what he would say. My friend knows him and used to like him, and she only likes people who are really nice and everything, and so he must be a nice guy. With Valentine's Day coming up, do you think that would be a good time to make a move? I really don't know what to do .. please help!!

Right in the first sentence you said that you don't like him as a potentail boyfriend. So, there you have it! It's not quite being high-matinence because you said he is annoying. Saying you don't like him because he's ugly isn't nice, but if he's annoying, then just let him be a loner. So tell him that you are not interested in being his girlfriend.

Well, that's too bad that you feel that way. Some people look in the mirrors and think that they're so big that they couldn't walk through doors either. Solution: Only eat when you're hungry. Ha.. you crack me up. But usually when people say "I don't want to ruin our friendship," then mean, "I don't think of you as a boyfriend." Since she said, "So for NOW that's a no," then that means, "I don't think of you as a boyfriend, but who knows.. one day she suddenly may be like, "HE'S THE ONE!" Wait for her to speak up. But in the meanwhile, you should do a little flirting, but don't make her uncomfortable.

long story short i went to my school dance tonight w/o a date and started to talk to this really sweet guy. he bought me candy, and danced w/ me......and i dont know him much. so....im confused. i dont know if i like him or not. how cn u tell?

My first bit of advice to you is learning how to type. Begin your sentences with capital letters, use periods at the end of your sentences, remember to make contractions with apostrophes, and TRY to make sense. Moving on...

If she likes the other girl better, than I guess it's time for you to move on. I mean, you COULD beat up the bitch who's stealing your best friend, but that's no good. Or, you COULD hang out with your best friend every second of the day so that the other girl can't hang out with her, but that idea sucks too. So, make new friends. Maybe there's some girl out there that's REALLY sweet and won't ditch you.

Also, it sounds like your friend doesn't trust you. Friends, especially best friends, should have trust in each other. And it's just not there. Sounds like this girl wants to be your friend, but she doesn't have what it takes to be a good friend.

Once again, you're probably underestimating you're beauty--inner and outter. But there's a little problem with your question. You told me that you don't really like any guys, but you want a valentine. A valentine should be someone special, not some random guy who asked you out. So, here are a five steps for you:

1. Scope out a guy to crush on. Make sure he's not taken, you have some sort of a chance with him, he's not super popular and he's not a friend's ex.

2. Flirt.

3. Pass him notes. Give him your phone number/ screen name. (If you want to make it more personal, I'd give him your digits.)

4. Hint, hint. Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge. Actually, no nudges. But give him a little clue that you're crushing on him.

*There are three choices for step 5*
5-a. Have your friend ask him if he likes you. (Have the friend talk to him when he's not talking with his friends.)
5-b. Wait for him to ask you out.
5-c. Ask the boy out!

hey. i just moved here over the summer and i became really good friends w..Sally..well sally's friend went to Mexico for a while. So Sally and i got to be really good friends! well her friends just came back.. whoot whoot.. well i thought that everything would be okay..itz not tho. like Sally is ignoring me. and not talking to me at all. but she only comes to me for things. or if she is bored, or if no one is around. or to ask :are you mad at me: but she is the one totally ignoring me! i have made some new friends. and she isn't okay w. that either! so what should i do. just sit there w. no friends! grr. hellppppp

Sounds like the case of a user. Ok, let's list the pros and the cons:

Pros:
You two were good friends over the summer.
She still talks to you occasionally.

Cons:
Now you two are hardly friends.
She only comes to you when she wants something from you.
She's paranoid about you being mad at her, but doesn't really seem to care that much.
You made new friends that she doesn't approve of, and yet doesn't make the effort to see you.

Hmm.. looks like the cons outweigh the pros. That means unless you MUST be her friend, then you should let it go. Here are some things to say in certain situations:

If she says to you, "I hate how you are making new friends," then you should respond, "Well, some of my old friends left me and I decided to move on." If she says something along the lines of, "I really miss hanging out with you. It upsets me that you're making all of these new friends and leaving me behind. I feel uncomfortable coming up to you in the halls because I feel like I would be ignored," then you should REALLY consider being her friend again and hanging out with her.

You can like anyone that you want. But, there are a few problems with liking an ex's close friend.
1. Your ex will be PISSED!
2. If you go out with the kid, then you might cause him to lose one of his best friends.
3. If your crush and your ex get in a fight, you'll feel like it's all your fault.
4. If you go out with the kid, you might not be able to hang out with him as much because he can't bring along one of his best friends.
5. Your ex will be PISSED!


Flirting: Be yourself, wear lipgloss, bat your eyelashes, make sure your breath is fresh, don't look sloppy, don't over-dress, don't over-do your make-up, don't be too giddy, SMILE, laugh at his jokes, be funny, don't tell jokes involving chickens and roads unless it's HALARIOUS and you KNOW he'll LOVE it... and he's yours. But MOST IMPORTANTLY, be confident in yourself. We all underestimate our beauty, smarts, and skills. If you're confident in yourself, you'll appear to be happier and stronger woman... guys dig that!

it seems like my friend is always depressed. they can't think about anything else and it is getting really sad. i can't stand to think that they are really that upset; online, at school, and even when we are together just as friends on the weekend. but, i don't know what to do. i don't want to try to control her, but i think she may need help... please help me!

Hmm.. sounds like me. Anyway, If she's really upset, then you should talk to her about it in a private place where you won't be overheard. If she says, "Nothing..." then that means it's a BIG something! Just let her know that you worry about her constantly, you can't stand to think that she is really upset, and that you love her for who she is, no matter what kind of shit she has done. Let her know that you can keep a secret because you're her friend.

If she is cutting, has eating disorders, or has suicidal thoughts, it's really serious. You need to get help for her because she needs advice beyond anything you or I could say. Before telling an adult or councler, PLEASE make sure that she isn't faking depression. If you go to an adult with false information, you could get her in serious trouble. Also, she'd be damn pissed.

Speaking of her being pissed, she might be mad at your for going to an adult. But in the long run, you're doing her a HUGE favor.

As Valentines day nears i seem to be more and more depressed. I think it is because i don't have a boyfriend. What's your opioin?

Valentine's Day is the day where we celebrate love. I happen to love my family and friends. Who says that you need a boyfriend to have fun on V-Day? Seriously, just invite a few friends over and make it all pink. Have everyone wear pink, make pink cupcakes with strawberry ice cream (or vanilla with a little bit of red dye), put pink streamers everywhere, watch some Legally Blonde... it'll be great. And have everyone bring a V-Dday gift for a grab bag.

What you do for a grab bag is: You have everyone bring one wrapped gift without knowing who will receive it. Then, you put them all in a large garbage bag and you all take turns picking one out. (Note: It's nice if you put a $5-10 price limit so that nobody goes over-the-top or gives a little key chain in exchange for the Abercrombie shirt you put in the bag.)

As for depression, don't plaster a stupid smile on your face if you're upset. Talk to your friends about it. Not at your party though, you'll ruin it for everyone including yourself.

What are the symptoms of Diabetes. I think i might have it.Is there anyone that i can talk to about it?

Why would you think you had it if you don't even know the symptoms are? Anyhow, some symptons are: You're constantly thirsty, you pee alot, you're weight has dropped dramatically, and wounds don't heal as fast as they should. Oh, and you're pancreas doesn't produce any insulin or it produces very little, but without going to a doctor, you can't really figure that out by yourself.

You might have very high blood sugar because you eat stuff with too many carbs in it. Then, you get keytones, which are explained in the section below. Or, you have very low blood sugar from not having enough carbs, which could put you in a diabetic coma.

The reason why you're thirsty and you pee alot is because you have keytones. Basically, the keytones are the bad guys eating you alive. Seriously, they eat at your inner organs!

And don't think, "Yes! I'm dropping weight!" Because that's not good weight you're losing, it's your organs!

You can talk to your parents, your doctor, and kids with Diabetes in your grade, or just someone you know. But don't hesitate to tell your parents because it's very serious and you could go into a coma or have damaged organs.

my hair is straight already, but sometimes it flips on the ends. do you think it would be dumb if i got a straightener even though my hair is already straight?

Not at all! My hair does the same thing on the ends. Well, it is kinda poofy all over, but especially on the ends! But there's another option. You can buy one of those brushes that are circular (you know, the ones with the bristles all around) and blow dry you're hair so that they curve in. But that's only if you want them to curve in instead of flip out or go straight.

Sounds cool, but what happens when you break up? I mean, you'll see him EVERY DAY right next to you and you'll feel all akward and stuff. And I know you're saying, "Well, we promised that we'd be friends even if we broke up!" It doesn't work. Trust me on that one.

ok well, in social studies class i sit in the back. And the other day this kid Dan had been absent and we had a test that day. Well the day he came back he had to take it (i sit next to him) and during his test his cell goes off. In my school we r not aloud to have cells phones. And he thought if he reached in his pocket and turned it off then the teacher would think he was cheating. So he wisppers to me to turn it off. So i reach in his pocket about to turn it on when the teacher sees us. She thought that i was doing some thing **else** inhis pocket then turning off his cell phone. Now i have a detention for "cheating" and for doing other stuff wit dan!! wht do i do?!

Ok, listen up. You HAVE to tell you're teacher. No, excuse me let me fix that. You have to arrange a meeting outside of class, maybe before or after school, to have a little talk with her. You really need to get across the message that he had a cell phone. You were just turning it off so that he wouldn't get in trouble for having the phone. Explain to her that you were devistated when she saw you because you really didn't want her to have the wrong impression of you. Explain to her that you will take the punishment if you can earn her respect.

Ok, there is this one guy at school (Eric) that I think I like. He's in my math class and I can NEVER wait to see him. I think he likes me cuz he talks to me more than most girl.s Here's the catch, my friends BF called me last night (Max)cuz he was bored. Also, I've had this crush on a guy (Daniel) since november and i see him a lot between classes. He occasionaly glances at me. Do ANY of these mean ANYTHIN? I rate HIGH!

Ok.. cross Max off of your list because he's taken by your friend. Daniel might just be checkin around the room and he catches your eye. Inbetween classes, I practiacally see my whole grade. But Eric seems like the right choice! You can't wait to see him, he enjoys your company.. he's you're dude!

The only catch is... if you two break up or he declines you.. it could get a little weird between the two of you. So, I guess it's a tie between Eric and Daniel, but I suggest you stick to Eric!
