question #1:
for starters, there is a formal, school dance called the eighth grade dance.
(you can skip these next few sentences. they are just me rambling)
i'm only in seventh grade, but we are still allowed to go. i'm getting my nails and hair done. i have a dress and shoes.

so me and my friends and our dates will be taking pictures at a friends house. i was told to bring my date a boutineer, like all my friends are doing. and our dates will be bringing boquets(which i think is totally lame.)
i was wondering if there was any special way to put on a boutineer because i don't want to be like clueless and it be limp and hang-y.

after, the dance we will be going to this guys house. so we might watch a movie or play games(like twister, lol.) so i was wondering what i should wear. i was thinking sweat pants and a shirt. but idk, any advice?

If you haven't bought your boutonniere yet, you can ask the florist (or wherever you get it at) how exactly you put it on someone. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to show you. Your parents or friends might be able to help you with that, too.
As for what to wear, just wear something casual but cute. A cute pair of sweats & a shirt would probably be a good idea, because you want to be able to be comfortable.

I am 16f. So,theres this guy i know, but he is totally a shy guy (about a year older)..he only lives 10 minutes driving from where I do,and is very sweet.I met him in person once,but it was at my workplace and I was busy at the moment when he came in,so we were not able to talk in person..just seen eachother and had a passing glance..(hes cute).We have had eachothers cell numbers previous to this day and had been texting non-stop constantly.I know everything about him and he knows basically everything about me.We get along very well and text eachother fairly often :) But,he is way to shy to come see me,and I am not sure where he works or if he feels anything towards me.He told me he had a girlfriend once,and it turned out he was just sorta lying and i am not sure if it was just to make me jealous ;) and then just the other day, I had written 'soulmate' as my signature on my cell and right away he asked 'what is up with your signature?'. I told him it is a song, because it is.And i do not have a different guy on my mind AT ALL.. but I don't know what he is thinking now,if he believes me that it is a song,or even if he was jealous that I may be seeing someone else..?
How can you tell if someone truly likes you from a text message? I really like him, but i cannot tell if he is truly meaning what he hints.. ;) and how can you get a shy guy to meet you somewhere just to hang out? I at least want a convo face to face, you know.. but hes just too shy :p
Guys have different ways of showing that they like someone. The best thing you can do is just ask him how he feels about you. Ask him to go out with you somewhere, like bowling or a movie. Somewhere where you two can talk in person without things getting awkward for him. Bowling would be great because you'd be doing something fun to keep from the awkward silence thing, & you can have a casual conversation at the same time.

Hi, My bestfriend started going out with my brother ablut 2 years ago and he broke up with her three weeks ago because he had trust issues with her and because of the way she was treating him, which i wasn't aware of until now. He told me everything about how she's always rude and makes him feel that he can't trust her with all her stories she tells him everyday after work about all the guys that asks her out and give her flowers and even ask to have sex with her..he has talked to her about the issues they had and about how she would'nt stop txtn alott of guys and not to mention talk to them on her cell phone and when she does she goes to a corner or hide from him while talk to them on her phone, which i think is really dodgy on her part. She deliberately tries to make him jealous and to the point of him breaking up with her, she played to many mind games and he could'nt tell the truth from a lie when she's talking. but to cut it short..when he broke up with her she used me to try and get him back and asking me for advice, which was hard for me since it's my brother that she went out with. I told her to ask him for one more chance to prove to him how much she loves him and that she'll change, but at the same time, my brother was telling me to tell her to get over it that he doesn't wanna be with her anymore,and called her a lier and that he is over her. that put me in the middle and i hate taking sides, that was until recently i found out she punches and hits him when she doesn't get her way with him, that just made things even more hard. I have stopped hanging out with her but she still txts me. I really wanna tell her off about her attitude and about the way she treated my brother but i don't know how..What should I do??
If your brother has already broken up with her, it may be best just to stay out of it. I know how hard it can be to hear about someone mistreating someone you love, but if she's not around him anymore then she can't keep mistreating him. If you don't want to get involved, then don't. If she asks you to help her get back with your brother again, tell her that he doesn't want to be with her, & you don't want to get involved. As hard as it may be, you may want to just bite your tongue on this one to avoid any conflicts.

ok so theres this one guy who goes to my school and hes my bestfriend. we have been hanging out alotttt like every weeked and sometimes during the week tooo.
hes alot shorter then me which suchs and another bad thing about his is he gets with everygirl. and i mean literally. he is a whore. so im suprised he hasnt gotten an std by now and i think its pretty discusting.
but we have gotten alot closer this school year and i like it. we text alot more and he told me he wanted to have sex with me and i told him we shouldd (which was stupid) and i went to his house a couple weeks ago and we were making out and he was trying so bad to get in my pants but i kept saying no and he was getting mad cause he is used to getting with any girl any time he wants.

and i when i dropped him off at home i was giving him attitude and i just like left and he knew i was mad at him. and he ditches me alot for his guy friends. but i guess im kind of asking for him to use me since im letting him. but i dont know what to do?
i started to fall for him and all those comments about girls made me mad but like were not going out and no one knows we hooked up.
my question is, should i keep hooking up with him or should i just remain friends with him before things get way to akward?
I would just be friends with him, if anything. This guy doesn't sound good, especially since he got mad at you for not sleeping with him. Not to mention if you keep hooking up with him without dating him, you'll still probably get jealous when he's with other girls. It would probably be a lot less trouble if you didn't hook up with him.

i just got that device for birth control that goes in your arm adn it last 3 yrs.. well since then my ovaries hurt and feel like their throbbing. i got put on this cuz it was the safest i have a heart defect.. so i have to be careful but also ever since i got it put in ive had my period which is like a month or so... is this bad
Being on your period for a month straight isn't safe. You're losing quite a bit of blood that way. You need to go see your doctor & tell him/her about your long periods & the ovary pain. Do it as soon as possible.

If your hymen gets broken, the next time you get your period, is it normal if it hurts to put in and take out a tampon? Thanks for the help : )
If your hymen was broken recently, it would be normal for it to be sore, which would make it hurt a little to put a tampon in. Just give it a little time, & if it keeps hurting, then you may need to see a doctor.

You'll have to ask her whether she's getting pleasure from it or not. Girls are different. For some, bigger is better than smaller, but for others it could be the complete opposite. I wouldn't worry to much about it, though, just ask her if she enjoys it. If not, you might be able to try different positions to see what works best for her.

My family currently has a male Lhasa Apso. he is 3 years old and pretty protective of us. We used to have another dog (female) but she died in december. so the current dog has lived with other dogs before. we want to get a new dog next month, a small one about his size. and i was wondering if it mattered if it were a male or female? would the current dog get along better with a female dog? or a male one?
If the male dog isn't neutered, then it might be best to get a female (as long as she's spayed). Male dogs sometimes have issues where, if they're not fixed, will try to mark their territory, which means they won't like another male dog taking over their territory. On the other hand, if you get a female dog, make sure at least her, or your male dog are fixed, or you'll have some puppies running around eventually.

I have like a day to chose which university to accept and it is totally freaking me out. I got into some pretty good schools so I should be happy, but instead every time I think about next year I start crying.
It's gotten to the point where I'm worrying about everything and anything.
First of all, I really like visual art and want to make it into a career somehow, but am not sure I like design. I am wondering if I should go to an art school where I can find this out, or go to a more general university where I can explore other options that I know I like (ie liberal art courses I am interested in, like studies in gender, feminism, labour laws, ect.). Another option I had thought about was doing theatre design/backstage theatre as I have done it in school and for a small theatre company and really enjoyed it. However, the place I am looking at for theatre doesn't have fine art or even design.
Another thing I am worried about is how I should approach this dilemma. Is it better to go to a really good general university to "find yourself", or figure out a career choice and then try to get training for it? Is it better to pick the field you are most likely to get your ideal job in, or go into your favourite subject and hope it works itself out?
18/f and totally confused. It's okay if you only answer part of this question... My mind is likely making this decision way harder than it really is by tying itself into knots =/
Just stay calm. You can always start out at one school & then transfer, or you can change your major, so just because you pick one now doesn't mean you're stuck with it.
Just think of what you can see yourself doing for the rest of your life & you won't get tired of. Or you can just start out with basic classes which I'm pretty sure are required for most degrees (I could be wrong though). Have you tried talking to your parents or our school counselor? They could probably give you some advice.

how do i avoid razor burn/red bumps when shaving my vagina? once the bumps started i waited a week almost two weeks to shave again and they were still there for the most part. how do i get them to go completely away and prevent others from appearing?
Have you tried using shaving cream? Some cheap brands really don't do much, but if you get a good kind it should help prevent razor bumps.

My boyfriend seemed perfect to me his nice sweet such a gentlement he makes me happy and i'm actually in love.we've been together for 8 and a half months now and everything has been great he says he loves me. The problem is his ex his ex want nothing to do with him which is a plus but he told me recently that he still has feelings for her it hurts so much .I asked him does he really love me he said yes. I asked him does he want her back he said yes.Now At this point I dont know what to do.
He dated her for 2 years and its been about a year and a half since its been over she was his first girfriend .The question is WHAT IN THE WORLD DO I DO NOW.
As hard as it may be, you need to leave him before he leaves you. If this guy is claiming to love you but is still saying he wants his ex back, he must not love you as much as he claims. You deserve much better than that & you shouldn't have to worry about your boyfriend trying to hook up with his ex.

I have the worst periods! It's terribly heavy. I even use the heaviest products but still end up having to change out every 10 minutes. And my periods last soo long. It's very frustrating because it interferes with so much. Anyways, after talking to my mom about it she made me an appointment tomorrow to see the female doctor at my family dr's office. We're gonna go talk to her about some different types of birth control to hopefully help. Note: I'm only getting bc pills for strictly period purposes only. Not for pregnancy prevention, I'm a virgin.
~~ But I was wondering - is the appointment just full of questions? Or is their an actual exam of your body? I just wanted to know, so I could kind of be prepared. I know if you go to an actual gyno then there's most likely a full exam. But I'm just going to my family doctor to hopefully get a bc perscription or something like that. So I just wanted to know. Maybe if any of you girls have been to your family dr for this, what the appt was like?

I had a similar situation happen to me. My period was lasting three weeks. When I went to the doctor they just asked a bunch of questions & prescribed me a new birth control pill that was a little bit stronger. I'm sure that's what they'll do for you, too.

im trying out for tryouts within a month i need to figure out how to get my legs higher off the ground. i am very flexible and can do pretty good high kicks but, when it comes to getting both feet off the ground i just cant do it. how can i get my toe touches looking amazing?!?
When I was a cheerleader, our coaches told us to go home & practice jumping off things to do them, like steps or a big rock or something, or if you have a trampoline that's a great way to practice.

I had a Leopard gecko when i was younger, I loved Paco(my lizard) unfortunatley we had to get rid of him cause my mom was doing all the caring and i was doing all teh playing. I want to care for a lizard now that i am older. I want to be able to hold him/her and i don't want to spend over 50 dollars in buying the pet itself. I want to be able to clean the tank fairly easily and enjoy the presence of my pet. I was looking at some green anoles but heard that they do not like to be handled??? is this true??? what lizard do you recommend for me??? Or if you have an idea of another type of reptile with the care instructions and characteristics i meantioned let me know??? Thank you!
The best pet lizard I know of is a bearded dragon. Some people may argue with that, but I have one & he is such a sweetie! They're usually pretty calm once they reach a certain age & most love to be held. Mine loves to lay on my chest & sleep when I'm watching tv.
The prices will vary, & most pet stores charge way too much. I got mine at a reptile show for about $45. The biggest cost issue will be with a cage. Beardies usually need at least a 50 gallon tank, but you can usually look in the classifieds online & buy a used one for a good price. Not only that, but they also require a heat & UV light, & lots of crickets & greens. So, it can be pricey, but it is worth it. They're honestly the most friendly lizards I've ever seen. Mine even runs to the end of the tank when he hears my voice. So, it might be worth saving up for.

They ask me if I am under 18, but not if i am 16 or over and i am almost positive you can get a job there at 16.

Well, the Rite Aid in my town will only hire you if you're 18, so you might want to check & make sure that you can work there when you're 16. The resume thing is a good idea, & it'll show that you really want the job because you put such an effort into it.
My sister applied there once & after the application process they gave her a phone number to call & they did an automated application over the phone.

they can two step and skate board and are really good with their feet
theyre loud and proud and they act like theyre badass and they usually have badass stuff to talk about

what are some cool skills i can obtain that will make me feel happy about myself, and proud and feel badass.
i dont want to skateboard by the way. im about 5 foot and 115 pounds. big boobs. and by the way i described my friends you can tell what kinda things im into.
Be proud of who you are. I know that's probably not the answer you want to hear, but just be you. Don't be concerned about fitting in. If you're unique, it'll get you noticed more. You can learn some pretty awesome rollerblading tricks, too, & if you're the only one in your group that can do that, that'll get you noticed. Cause there's a whole group of them that can skateboard, & you'd be the only one who can do really awesome rollerblading tricks. As for your dancing, be proud of that, too. I can't dance at all, so I think you're pretty lucky to have some rhythm. I know how you feel about wanting to have the same skills as everyone else, but take it from me (I'm out of high school so I know all about that), being yourself is going to get you noticed a lot more than if you follow the same trends as everyone else.
As for them being loud & proud, that's pretty easy. Just be confident.

THANK YOU so much for the advice you gave about the paper clip situation! really the only sound actual ADVICE i got so far... every body keeps saying "it's up to you" and frankly i am an emotional blob right now and can't assess whether or not I'll look like an idiot! i can't make up my mind whether i really like him or not right now since he disappeared for a while and hasn't been putting any effort to reciprocate... but i figured i'll give him the clips anyway... what have i got to lose right? So, I was thinking of either 1) going myself and giving him in person just slide the box across the desk with a big smile and say something along the lines of "thanks for saving my academic life last time! I'm finally done!" ... but i am afraid it's too cheesy and i don't want the people around us to stare... i mean the library is a busy place :s ALWAYS. 2) i was thinking of giving it to a random stranger (mind you in both cases it contains a note) with the note that says:

and my email...

3) i was thinking of dragging a friend of mine as my "wingwoman" pretending to be talking in the middle of the hall on our way out, but interrupt our convo to go give him the box and then (possibly) go back out with her in case of a disaster... kind of a spin to the first scenario but this one i can't conduct until later in may since my friend (who's the only person who knows) is gone for a while....

I'd just give them to him myself if I were you. As hard as it may be, you shouldn't worry so much about what other people say. You could just put a note with the paper clips thanking him, & give him your email, & hand it to him without saying anything so that the guy sitting next to him won't start getting too suspicious.
I wouldn't have your friend do it for you because it might confuse him or give him the wrong idea. If you really want to, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have your friend there for support, but if he does decide he wants to talk to you after he reads the note (in person), he might be a little put off because you're standing there with your friend.
So, if I were you, I'd just give him the box with a note, & wait to see if he shows any interest in return. Just don't be nervous. If he turns you down or the guy next to him starts making fun of the situation, it's not the end of the world, I promise.
ADDED:
Try prepping yourself up first before you talk to him. Tell yourself that you can do this. It'll help you out a lot. If you have negative thoughts like "I can't do it", tell yourself "Yes, I can".
If the subtle approach isn't working, it may be time to just ask him flat out. Just ask him out on a date or something.

Hey everyone. My name is Rachel, and I am fourteen, fifteen in June. I need help. Well, I have a HUGE crush on a guy at school. He's incredibly handsome, and hilarious. (My two need-haves, when it comes to guys.) But, here’s the problem. I'm a freshman he's a junior. He's 17 in May. It's not a problem for me, and he has a few Ex's in my grade, so it's not a problem for him either. But my mom is a whole other story. Well, I had transferred to my school at the beginning of the school year, and my mom had casually asked if I had any boys on the brain. I told her about... Well let's call him "T", and she said, "Well, you know he's too old for you, right?" I had no reply to that. That made me a little mad. I mean technically there's only a year in between us. ALSO, my mom and dad are married, and my mom is 42, my dad 48. Don't you think that's kind of hypocritical? I mean, I'm not being disrespectful, or I don't mean to be anyway, but I don't think that's very fair. If you ask me, I don't think T and I have that big of an age difference. But, if mommy says, Rachel does. If she tells me I can't date him, I won't, no questions asked. But if I convinced her otherwise and she said I could, I'd be content in doing so. So, lying and sneaking around is absolutely out of the question. But, I need a few tips on how to convince her that the difference isn't that large. Any ideas? Or even if you think the difference is big, give your opinion please! I will not judge or anything. Any advice will be accepted. Thanks~! J
Your mom's probably not trying to be a hypocrite, she just wants what's best for you. Try explaining your point of view to her without getting angry & raising your voice. Point out the age difference between her & your dad, & ask her to just give it a chance to meet him & everything before she tells you no.
