Q: Is it possible to hide your rating from other people? Thanks a million.
No.

Q: Hey, umm I was just wondering if responses to questions were monitored like that actual questions are? I've received a couple of stupid ones like "I poop on your soul" and others that have nothing to do with my question, and are quite vulgar and contain profanity. I understand that people have the right to free speech and everything, but since the questions are monitored, shouldn't the answers be as well? Thanks for listening!
We don't care quite as much about the answers as we do the questions, but if one particular columnist is really being obscene, we'll look at banning him or her. We view everyone's column as his or her personal homepage of sorts, and want to encourage people to be different and out there sometimes, because if one question is going to get 10 answers it's pretty boring if they're all the same.

Q: can someone explain this?

(Note: HTML is allowed except for the and tags. Other tags can just plain screw up your page... we do NOT offer support for people who mess things up because they use non-text elements in their bio.)
Well, there are different parts to it...

here's the deal. sometimes, people cut and paste random bits of code into their bio fields that they find on web pages. if you don't paste it right, or don't know what you're doing, you can screw up your page. we won't help you fix it, and we'd encourage you to not put bits of HTML code or any other code in your bio. just type up what you want people to read and leave it at that.

Q: I think I just accidently submitted a question twice. I pressed the button twice and I think it got sent twice. Does that still mean I get banned?
Wait and see. if you try to log in tomorrow and you've been banned, I guess that's what it means.

Q: Hello, this is the mother of Alyssa. I recently discovered this website by searching through the computer that my daughter uses. I searched through this site and stumbled across that in order to register to this website, you have to be at least 13. My daughter just turned 12 years old in July. Her advice column is XxalyssaxX and when I looked at her column, she lied about everything, including her age. So what I'm asking you is to please ban her until July of 2005, the month that she will be turning 13. I would delete my daughter's column myself but I think it would be better if you would because I do not know how. Sorry if my daughter has caused any trouble to this website. Once again, my daughter's advice column is XxalyssaxX.

Sincerely,
A mother of a columnist
We cannot ban columnists based on recommendations. If she is in fact your daughter and she is underage, please assist her in banning herself and clearing out her profile information by logging in and using this form:

Q: I became a level one moderator about 2 days ago and I know I have to rate questions. What I wanted to ask was, am I expected to rate all questions? How many am I expected to rate?
Rate as many as you have time for. We have some moderators who rate 50 questions a day and others who rate 4... the more you rate, the more you help our site visitors narrow down questions. Don't worry about how many answers a question has or how many times it's already been rated... just rate.

We will mention here that when we look to promote a level I moderator to a level II moderator, the first thing we look at is how many questions they've rated lately. So if you're rating fewer questions than most everyone else, you won't be considered. Visit the moderator list page (http://www.advicenators.com/mod.php?mode=list) to see how many questions other people rate.

Q: Can you tell me how to delete my daughters account. I do not like the things she has written for the public to view. My email address is sldragonmom@yahoo.com
http://www.advicenators.com/deletec.php

Q: how do i rate a columnist
You can only rate a columnist if they answer a question that you ask.

Q: Is it just me or are you getting really annoyed with all the: (name) is only 12! bla bla bla.
????????????????????????????????????????????
Yes, especially when people don't provide proof... I end up just ignoring them.

Q: I think she left me a message in my inbox saying "You stole my answer, you're lucking I don't tell the admin, I'm nice." First of all, I had no clue what she was talking about and second of all, is there even any rule on this site about stealing people's answers? I only look at other people's answers if there are more than 2 answers already there, when I clicked on a question that I was about to answer, no one had answered it so far. Now she claims I stole her answer. Is that even a rule!?
Yes, it's a rule that you can't steal answers. It's fine to read what people have already written, and we understand that sometimes advice is going to sound similar, but if an answer is copied word for word that's cause for banning.

Q: When i try to search for my advicenators name it says im not listed as a user my name is ashlyn w 51..Why does it do that
http://www.advicenators.com/colview.php?&name=ashlyn

spaces in your username will mess up some of the features on this site. you should have paid attention to the big glaring message that said "NO SPACES IN YOUR USERNAME" when signing up for this site.

Q: why isn't amy-o under 5 star or under newest? how will i find her?
looks to me like she's only answered four questions, so she's not a real columnist yet. You have to have five answers to be in the directory.

Q: i have a column but when you browse the columnist im not their JustJazzy24@aol.com
have you answered at least five questions?

Q: ive been on this site for a couple of months now- but as i look at some recent questions you've gotten, i never realized there was an age limit. I'm over 12, but was this always a rule? Or is it new? Sort of stupid question, but it surprised me 12 year olds were being banned for their age. [im not trying to say the rule is bad, because i actually think it makes perfect sense]. sorry if i wasted your time- and thanks for such a great site you've started :)
Yes, it's a rule. It's in the FAQ and terms of service and you even had to click a box when you joined that said "I am 13 years of age". You can read this for more info on why we have this policy in place (it's pretty important):

Q: I'm just wondering if anyone is buying those paid accounts? I would buy one, just so you guys can get money and all..its just that I dont have paypal or a credit card..I'm only 14 :D! Anyway, so are people actually buying the paid accounts?

xo_sherry_ox
no, but it's here in case anyone wants it. i know most of our visitors are too young to have money for that sort of thing but I wanted to have it up there anyway.

Q: Is there anyway to remove feedback? Because I was given a feedback remark from another advicenator that was not based on advice but what they wanted to hear, about politics. I would like to keep my rating good and true to the actual advice I get, not a fight with anoter columnist. If there is anything I can do to keep it that way, I would appreciate it.
Everyone gets bad feedback, you just have to roll with it and deal. It means you're a better columnist because you tell people things that are tough to hear sometimes! Technically, if you delete the answer the feedback goes away, but be tough and try to avoid that.

Q: Are the deleted questions going to stay on my column from now on? I only ask because a lot of times, when I delete a question, I will tell the person why it is being deleted. I don't really like the idea of those questions on my column.
I was afraid that might happen.

Okay, I just added a thing in "profile settings" that will let you choose whether or not to show deleted questions on your column. I don't have time to test it right now but it should work... let me know if it doesn't.

Q: I am totally disgusted with the answer I received to my question titled "Sister-In-Law Dilemma" from EGGYOLKENEMA. It was rude, nasty and pornographic. I'm FINISHED with this site. I thought it was legitimate but obviously it's a just site for kids to talk dirty.
First off, I can't even see her answer to your question, so chances are she's already been banned for it.

Second, you got four good answers that I can see, and you're mad because one answer was offensive? This is a public forum, you have to expect that not every answer will be what you want to hear. Be finished if you want, but we're not going to go crazy censoring columnists, that's not what we're about, we're about free speech.

Q: hi this is caitie b. a while ago i was banned from caitie b becuase someone said i was underage when im 14. so i made a new account called the bitch oo . one day it said i was banned for having an account. that makes no sense so i made another acount called butthole and that got banned for no reason too! i would like to know why i was banned and if you can unban me becuase this whole thing would have never happened if my sister didnt get on my account and say "im 12 and have 5 pairs of shoes". i am sorry for the confusion but i do not deserve this and this site should go to hell!
Why stay at this site if you want it to go to hell?

If you're banned for any reason, and we find out you just went and made a new account, we ban that one too. That's why your four accounts were banned. Frankly, if you wouldn't have annoyed me every day with inbox questions, I would never have noticed all your accounts. But you did, so I noticed, so I banned them.

Next time you join a website, don't give your sister your passwords. Leave us alone. You are putting us in jeopardy of violating federal guidelines on children and the internet by participating in our site.

Q: Hi this is advice~gurl and for some odd reason I can't go on anyof the mod discussions. It says I'm not authorized to view the page. Huh? I was just on it about a 1/2 hour ago. whats going on?
glitch. i'm messing with some code, sorry!

This advice column is for suggestions, comments, or error reporting about advicenators. If you'd like to suggest a new category, ask me a question. If you'd like to whine, bitch, or complain about advicenators, you may whine, bitch, or complain to me.

Three rules though:
1) Do not ask me for life advice. We have several thousand other members that do that.

2) Do not ask for help, or ask how to do something, or ask about
how something on the site works, unless you've read every word of our help pages and you're sure it's not addressed there.

3) Do not ask me to ban someone or investigate abuse. We have an entire abuse system set up for that.

If you disobey one of these rules, I'll delete your question.

Some guidelines about suggestions:
If you offer a suggestion that I find interesting, I might just ignore your question so it stays in my inbox as a reminder of something to do. Don't be upset that I don't answer you, and don't delete your questions (because then I'll forget!)

If you have three suggestions, please ask three separate questions, that way I can address each one individually. It's a real pain when people ask one question with like twenty different topics in it; I can't keep them straight.
