So, I'm a 14 year old girl and I'm pretty sure this isn't normal. It's usually every morning I wake up with soaked underwear, it doesn't smell that nice either. During the day it's nit so bad but it's still happening, it's very uncomftable. I find that whenever I need to pee I all of a sudden become very desperate to go and I can't hold it in for that long and if I don't go I can't hold it in. I don't want to have to wear a panty liner or something like that, any ideas on what this could be?
I'm too scared to tell my parents about it as I would be embarrassed and I really don't want to have to go and see a doctor unless I really have to.
Thanks.

Personally there isn't alot of advice that I can give you for this particular problem.
Going to the doctors would probably be your best move as you may have some sort of bladder problem. Possibly a small bladder or something may be putting pressure on your bowels when they fill or muscle problems (as you said when you sleep you awake to being soaked, and as your body relaxes when you sleep your bladder empties)
I know it'll be difficult at your age to go to the doctors alone as I use to go with my mom when I was your age. So you may need to tell your parents but you could possibly make an appointment yourself to go after school?
I hope this helps a bit, and sorry that I couldn't give you an answer where you wouldn't have to go to the doctors. Good luck and I hope you're problem gets sorted :) [ samieeeey's advice column | Ask samieeeey A Question ]
Rena-Chan answered Saturday April 26 2014, 7:05 pm: There are a couple of things that could be happening, 1. You MIGHT be wetting yourself, but if it's happening during the day, and you are positive that is not the case, then it's 2. Your body's self lubricating.... To make it a little simple, you are still young and still going through the stages of puberty, as this happens, your vagina discharges a fluid *which is very uncomfortable, many of us women know all too well* the only thing you can do about the discharge, is to wear a panty liner until it let's up. As for the smell, they have liners that contain the smell... Scented liners. Also, proper care may also contain the fluid discharge. Bathe daily making sure to wash and thoroughly rinse the area to be sure that there is no left over soap, failing to do so can also increase the discharge. I'm sure she will understand. There is no remedy I can suggest. Rather see a doctor who can sort this out for you quickly, it's their jobs so you shouldn't feel embarrassed or worried about it. Go to a doctor sooner rather than later. You will feel better once this is sorted.
AskSinz answered Tuesday April 22 2014, 9:00 pm: Hello,
It's normal and healthy to produce a clear or white discharge from your vagina. Healthy discharge does not have a strong smell or colour. You may feel an uncomfortable wetness, but you should not have any itching or soreness around your vagina.
Any sudden change to your discharge may indicate a vaginal infection. You should be aware of how your discharge naturally varies throughout your cycle and what is not normal, but obvious warning signs of infection are:
a change in colour or consistency
a sudden bad smell
an unusually large amount of discharge
another symptom alongside the discharge, such as itching outside your vagina or pain in your pelvis or tummy
unexpected bleeding from the vagina
If your discharge is fishy smelling, green, yellow, frothy or you have intense itching and you yourself are not sure whether your discharge is normal and are worried about it, I would suggest you see your GP or nurse.
As for the sudden need to pee, it sounds like weak pelvic floor muscles, which is easily strengthened, or a possible UTI (Urinary Tract Infection)
I highly recommend either speaking to your GP or nurse, or even informing your mother if you are seriously worried. You have nothing to be embarrassed about at all.
blueheart answered Tuesday April 22 2014, 9:05 am: That is perfectly normal sweetie. That is called vaginal Discharge. It usually occurs and or varies during your menstrual cycle or whenever you get sexually aroused. One of the reason why you wake up with wet underwear is that while you were sleeping, you ejaculated fluids and that is called wet dreams.
You should wear panty liners and change them as often as you want to avoid vaginal itchiness and rashes. Those vaginal discharges are the natural way to clean itself. The ph balance of vagina is acidic and that means it has a good bacteria to protect itself from infections.
You don't need to worry about vaginal discharges and secretions unless it would have a weird colour like green or yellow and has a cheesy smell and if that so I would suggest you to see a doctor.
However there are kinds of vaginal secretions :
Clear and strechy-means thats you are fertile or ovulating
clear and watery-this occurs after you do a heavy exercise and occurs usually at different cycles.
Thickish white- this occurs at the start and end of your mens cycle. However if it constitute with itchiness around the vulva, probably it is a sign of yeast infection.
Red-means that you are near in your period
Brown- occurs after your period. It is the natural way of cleansing after your period.
Green and yellow- means of infection.
And don't worry about the strong smell. To get rid of the smell, eat alot of oranges and citrus.
carreyanne answered Tuesday April 22 2014, 6:34 am: Firstly what is it that is soaking your knickers is it urine or discharge?
If it is discharge then you could have a urine infection which is very common in women of all ages. Does it hurt to pee? Is your discharge an off white color and are you passing urine more than normal and you stated it doesn't smell nice if all these sound like your symptoms then it sounds like you could have a urine infection and you would need to vist your doctor to get some antibiotics to get rid of the infection as it can progress into a kidney infection if left untreated.
If its not discharge and is just urine then you could have a incontinence.which is also common
There are two main types of incontinence's
• stress incontinence (leakage of urine when you cough, laugh, bend over or exercise)
• urge incontinence with overactive bladder (the sudden urge to pass urine, and maybe not reaching the toilet in time).
Many women have both types together and this is called mixed incontinence
Another reason is that if you are sexual active you may well of caught a sexual disease which you will need to vist your local clinic for.
It can be embarrassing for young girls to go to there parents or doctor but i would advice you to go to your doctor to get it checked out.
Its hard for me to answer your question in proper detail as i don't know what is soaking your knickers but i have tried to answer it as much as possible and i hope it helps
Thank you for writing to me for help and hope everything goes ok

missundersmock answered Tuesday April 22 2014, 2:44 am: well im sorry to tell you this but if it smells down there then your going to have to go to the doctors anyway. it should NEVER have an "odd" or nasty smell. thats a number one sign directly from your "downtown area" that something is wrong. its normal to have SOME vaginal discharge in your undies, thats just your body keeping things clean inside you and expelling anything that could cause problems but you having trouble holding your pee isnt good either, that could be a UTI and its just gonna get worse or painful too. i would talk to your mom and get her to make a doctors appmt for you asap. Pook answered Tuesday April 22 2014, 2:18 am: It sounds like you might have a urinary tract infection, however you should go and see your family doctor to find out what it is. People have infections and ailments all the time; it is not embarrassing at all. What's more embarrassing is wetting yourself in public because you can't hold it in! LagunaBabe answered Monday April 21 2014, 5:03 pm: It sounds like you are having excessive discharge. Discharge, in itself, is very normal and it's good for the body. However, it is important to keep an eye out for any different smells, especially fishy ones. It could be a sign of an infection -- but remember, those are normal as well, they just need to be treated.
I think you should talk to your mom about this, as it would most likely be less embarrassing for you -- truly, there is no need to be embarrassed at all. All of us girls have and continue to experience something like that, it is very normal. She would be able to offer some insight, and get you to a doctor if need be. I know pantyliners can be uncomfortable, but it is truly your best bet until you talk to your mom/see a doctor.
Don't be worried, remember that all of this is something normal that we all experience and there is absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about! Best of luck to you friend, and please feel free to inbox me with any questions and/or updates! [ LagunaBabe's advice column | Ask LagunaBabe A Question ]
adviceman49 answered Monday April 21 2014, 9:23 am: How about some advice from someone old enough to be your grandfather.
First of all I cannot tell you what is wrong as I am not a doctor, none of us are. Given your age it could be a number of different things. You could be having the female version of a wet dream and what you see in your panties is not urine but the vaginal secretions your vagina makes when you are sexually excited. Urine has a distinct odor, if what is in your panties does not smell like urine then it is something else.
You could have a bladder infection as well. Then there is also the possibility of a weak bladder though I doubt it by your description of the smell. I could be right or wrong in what I'm thinking of. What I do know is you need to see a doctor if you want it to stop. Both of the first two items can be handled with medication.
Let me ask you a question: Which would be more embarrassing? Telling mom you have a problem and need to see a doctor or leaving a wet spot on a chair in school and walking around with a wet spot on you pants or skirt. If it were me I think it would be the second of the two.
There is no reason not to tell mom. This has nothing to do with sex and maybe something to do with your reproductive system, there is a difference. The doctor cannot tell if you are a virgin or not only if you still have your Hymen which can be lost simply by using Tampons.
Hopefully you are still a virgin as you are way too young to be having sex. Though as I said this is not a question or a problem resulting from sex. If you are having nocturnal emissions it is a response to the new hormones brought on by puberty.
Now you may have heard this before but I mean what I am about to say. We were not born parents; all of us were once your age and have gone through what you are going through. This in a different manner includes your dad. There is nothing to be embarrassed about.
If you had a sore throat you would go to mom. Well this is the same thing just effecting another part of your body. If you wish to have children in the future you need to pay attention to what is happening with your reproductive system and see to it that anything out of the ordinary is checked.
Technically by federal law called HIPPA you do not need permission to make a doctors appointment or to see a doctor for anything related to your reproductive system/ You can go to any women free clinic and ask to be seen if you wish to. Your medical records in regards to your reproductive system are now confidential and only you, the doctor and anyone you give the doctor permission in writing may see them.
While this is your right under the law. Given your age and the problem you are having I suggest you tell mom and let her discuss this with you before you go to the doctor which you should do and need to do. [ adviceman49's advice column | Ask adviceman49 A Question ]

Other than that i would go to your docter and find out the cause because it doesnt sound to pleasant. Also, never be afraid to tell your parents anything because they are there to help you with anything. [ Short_N_Punky's advice column | Ask Short_N_Punky A Question ]
