I just got an iPod, and I'm realizing how much it costs to buy songs. It's so expensive, so I'm wondering, does everyone buy there songs like this and pay full price for each song? Everyone has so many songs but I don't see how because they're so expensive. I'm not looking for a way around this, I just want to know if the majority of people actually do it this way.
Razhie answered Saturday April 13 2013, 12:30 pm: The vast majority of people download some or all of their music illegally.
Some studies have said as much as 95% of the music downloads on the planet are from pirated (illegal) sources but that is tough to support. More reputable studies put it closer to 65-70% - and the weirdest fact of all is that many people who download some tracks for free - will also pay for others. Very few people get their music solely from legal, or illegal sources. Most people use both. [ Razhie's advice column | Ask Razhie A Question ]

Or I buy some good songs and then have another friend buy some other songs we both want, burn them onto a CD and have my friend do the same, then swap.

Er_Bear19 answered Tuesday December 30 2008, 3:21 am: You're right. I would say most people probably download their music illegally with programs such as Limewire, Frostwire, and Bearshare. [ Er_Bear19's advice column | Ask Er_Bear19 A Question ]
Matt answered Tuesday December 30 2008, 12:23 am: No, a lot of people borrow albums from their friends and get the mp3 files into their iTunes or they pirate their music outright, either through P2P networks or torrents. [ Matt's advice column | Ask Matt A Question ]
