I need to tell my mom...but how?

Question Posted Friday February 29 2008, 3:54 pm

I got my period for the first time back in November.
(i'm 14/f, by the way, 15 in a little over 4 weeks) Anyways, my mom doesn't know yet. I don't know how to tell her, because i'm too embarrassed! She said she's thinking about taking me to the doctor if i don't get it (or tell her about it) soon.

Any tips on how to tell her? Thanks soo much!!!!!!!

You just have to come out and quietly tell her. 'mom I got my period, just telling you' and odds are she probably knows or at least has a hint because the pads or tampons are disappearing. Don't worry about her telling the whole world either just say something like 'can you keep it quiet? Just don't tell everyone, lol'
Hope that helps <3

Just tell her you got your period. you could do it next time you get it. you dont want to go to the doctor and have her find out there that you have gotten it before. i was embarrassed at first telling my mom, but then once you tell her the first time itss really not that bad. Just say itt.

hope i helpedd.

The next time you have a period, just say, "Hey Mom, I finally got my period." That's the easiest way, and you'll just have to get the courage to say it sometime or another. She'll never have to know that you started in November, and that way you won't have to go to the doctor.

-the best way to let your mom know without actually saying it,is to drop subtle hints. like, next time she brings it up,just be like, "ya,about that...that happened way back in november." another way is,next time your shopping with her, when you go down the aisle, just put some in the cart, and she will most likely get the hint.

IF you drop hints without having to say the actual words she will know what you are talking about. Say can you buy me chocolate because I have really bad cramps. Or say I ran out of tampons/pads could you buy some for me. You would think she would figuare it out because most people who start have a tendency to be mean. If she asks maybe we should make an appointment just say not necessary with a smile. She will know exactly what you are talking about then. It was hard to tell my mom when I started because it felt weird but the truth was it felt better knowing that someone in my fmaily actually knew what I was going through. My mom besides me is the only girl.

I know its really embarrassing to tell her but you should sit her down and tell it to her straight. Its always embarrassing but every girl goes through it. She might say something that is embarrassing but its how it all works. Wish you luck!

What I would do is just sit down with your mom to talk. Make sure you guys are alone, then it's less embarrassing. Start off by saying 'Well, Mom, there's something I should tell you...' and then don't delay, just spit it out. If she asks you why you didn't tell her about it earlier, just explain your feelings of embarrassment. Everyone goes through this, so relax and be open to your mom.
As for the embarrassment, she might embarrass you a little with the 'Oh my baby's growing up so much!' but that comes with the territory honey. It's best to be honest with her about it because this is a big part of your life.
Good luck!
