Okay, really stupid question here, but what exactly are dreams? And do you have one every night? Someone told me that you may not always remember the dream you had once you've woken up, but you always have one. Is that true?
There's so many sites, browse them all.
I have quite a fw books on the subject as well,
you could easily find them ata bookstore or the library. Dream dictionaries focus on what individual objects mean (such as dreaming of the color green) while others focus more on general ideas, such as dreaming of your childhood.
I read somewhere that a person only remembers a dream they had if they were interrupted in some way while in REM sleep. Not enough to wake up, but enough to interrupt brain activity, or something like that. But no one really knows for sure =]

You have one everynight whether you remember it or not. They occur in the 5th stage of sleep called REM Sleep, and they can be movie length depending on the dream. They may not seem that long when you have them, or when you wake up, but they usually do last a while. You can read all about them on Google:

Although the only time this applies is if you are getting that deep REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. During that sleep, your brain is the most active.
Dreams are basically your unconcious mind staying active while your body is asleep. In other words, when your body is resting, your brain is still heavily active. It is a way for your mind to play out any anxieties/issues you have in your waking life that you do not attend to while you are conscious. [ Mulva's advice column | Ask Mulva A Question ]
