MAK answered Wednesday July 4 2007, 3:53 am:
Well I used to volunteer at a bird hospital, The Bird Rescue Center. I think I put in about 400 hours in just two years, but I was one of their favorite volunteers, not to brag, but I had a lot more privilages than the average one did. Actually I am kind of bragging, but oh well, I'm proud.

But the hospital was sooo shabby. Its a nonprofit organization, and the only money they get is from donations, and they don't get that many of them. It was heartbreaking, because once we had to reject birds for three weeks because there was no room to keep them. It gets extremely busy during the baby bird season.

I am actually planning to do a huge bakesale in my neighborhood and raise money to donate to the BRC. I would still volunteer there if it weren't for various circumstances. =/

Project(RED) is a good charity, but they do make a decent amount of money. They sell the products that say Inspi(red), Desi(red), Bo(red), etc. I really think AIDS is the most important thing that needs to be dealt with right now and this charity is for real.

Just in general, it's good to do some investigating, many charities simply keep profits.

There's so many charities I love, most deal with animals, the environment, and the homeless.

Amnesty International is one of my favourites. I love how it covers a lot of current topics and aims to provide the best human rights for everyone. I agree with so much of what they do, such as wanting to abolish the death penalty, protesting the purchase of 'blood diamonds', and working for equality in jobs.

www.amnesty.org is the site in case you're interested in reading more.

im not sure if this in necessarily considered a charity, but i always support peta. i support and donate money to peta because they fight for the humane treatment of animals. i am a vegetarian, so peta is a non profit organization i like to support. i can donate money and have the confidence of knowing that it will be used to help animals.

Hey! This is sure an interesting question..

Personally, I would love to support a TON of charities, but here are a few that I would probably pursue giving money to in my adult life:

Its called Just Give. Its for abused animals. It SICKENS me when people abuse animals. I don't understand what could bring someone to do horrid things to animals. So I would most likely give to a charity like this [it doesn't necessarily mean I would do this particular charity, just one similar to it].

Also:

This is the Walk to Cure Juvenile Diabetes. My family actually does give to this charity every year, and we do actually go walk. It raises money to help find a cure to Type 1 [or Juvenile] Diabetes. I think its a great cause, and it would be a nice one to check out, if that's why you're asking us.

Here is a good search thingy for charities.. you can find one close by:

Enjoy, and I hope you always give to the less-fortunate! =]

Charity can mean a lot things, like organizations?

I would choose JDRF, juvenile diabetes research foundation.
I picked this because my sister and father both have diabetes, and it is a horrible illness to have to live with. The money is worth it, and they are making diabetes easier to live with for both the patient, and the families.
