This is a bit random but is it ok to chew gum? I dont mean instead of a meal but between meals and etc.
Im wondering because since they're sugar-free they have sucralose (sp) and aspartame in them. I have heard both good and bad things about those sweetners. Is it ok for your health to chew 1-2 pieces a day (like Orbit), they wont make you gain weight or anything?
nonamecat answered Wednesday June 20 2007, 10:44 pm: 1 to 2 pieces won't harm you. As to your sweetner concerns, here's the deal:
Sucralose (Splenda) is FDA approved and harmless
Aspartame is on the edge of FDA approval because it causes serious headache and migraine issues in a great many people.
Alcohol Sugars (Xylitol) are FDA approved but they are still sugars. If you are on a strict sugar free diet, foods containing alcohol sugars are not for you. [ nonamecat's advice column | Ask nonamecat A Question ]

Chewing gum is harmless, like someone else said, it's probably good for you since you won't stuff your face with junk haha. So to answer your question. No. [ Roxeh101's advice column | Ask Roxeh101 A Question ]
dancergirl027 answered Wednesday June 20 2007, 7:30 pm: there arent enough sweeteners in a piece of gum to make it unhealthy. there are a lot of other ingredients so it doesnt make a difference
Andreaaaa answered Wednesday June 20 2007, 7:28 pm: Gain weight? No. Unhealthy? No.
Infact. Chewing gum inbetween will make you loose weight because instead of snacking on a bunch of junk food, your chewing gum.
That's why when people try to quite smoking, they chew gum constantly.
