ok so i consider myself punk/emo. and theirs this girl in my school she called me a poser! and i dont kow why. i listen to rock music, and i thought i had my sense of style. i really dont think i am a poser. she told me jsut cuz i dress that way doesnt amke a rocker.
so i am asking what makes people rockers? i listen to rock. heavy metal so i dont get it? what should i do like make up sheos and clothes. thanks. iwant to improve my style

what you wear does not define who you are. you can buy all the hot topic stuff you want, but that doesn't make you a rocker. it makes you look like one, i guess. but it shouldn't really matter. it should be about the music. listen, i wear whatever i want to wear, listen to whatever i want, and don't define myself by a type of music or anything. i am who i am, and thats all.
if you are yourself, and yourself is a punk or an emo or whatever, good for you. dont let others bother you.

I personally think that there is no such thing as a poser. People can be whoever they want to be and if they want to label themselves, it's at their own free will.
Disregard the girl because she has no better things to do in life.
And personally, I think people are what they believe they are but if they get so caught up in trying to prove to someone else that they are what they claim to be, they're not true to themselves but putting up false pretense. The fact that you're on a site asking what you should wear and what you should do to be "punk/emo" proves that you're caught up in this girl's stupid word. Be a non-conformist and you'll find it much easier to live. The kind of music you listen to or what you wear or how you do your make up---that means nothing. You are you. Not your clothes, not music, not make up. You're just you and if this girl doesn't like it, then it's her own f---ing problem.
Wear what you want. Listen to what you want. Do whatever you want because if you're going to try and change to be someone you already are, you're changing yourself and that would be giving into this girl's motive.

Rockstar isn't what music you listen to or what clothes you wear, it's an attidue, a lifestyle. If you see on T.V., all the rockers have this bad ass attidue. They're just laid back & whatever happens, happens. They really don't give a shit. If she calls you a poser, call her a dumbass & forget about it.

If you're happy with your style, you don't need to improve it because one person called you a poser. If you listen to rock music and dress like a rocker, what else can you do? The only way this girl could have any reasoning behind her calling you a poser is if you are dressing this way and listening to rock music just to fit in with a certain crowd. If so, you need to think about who you really want to be, not who your new friends want you to be.
But, if you've always been a "punk/emo"... don't listen to her. But also, don't define yourself by that terminology. You can be many things, not just a punk.
