Can anyone tell me what the "popular crowd" in highschool is usually like?

unfortunately the "popular" crowd is usually considered to be the "preps" and the "jocks", meaning cheerleaders, football players, people that dress in expensive clothes, homecoming prince and princess etc. however, this is not always the case. popular, in essence, means well liked by people. so there are exceptions at school where people who dont fit into the typical idea of popular still are because they are friends with many people, and are well known and well-liked.

Half of the time they are just a bunch of jack***es that pick on those who are not popular.
Who knows, Its not a big deal to me so I don't worry about it.

cheerleaders, dancers, football and lacross players. usually, it's just people that everyone knows for being fun (and dramatic) and having/going to crazy parties. <3

At my school-
1. PREPS: Boys, girls, bad, good. Extremely popular, from anything. Football team, Cheerleaders, etc. Anyone extremely popular we call a prep.
2. EMOS: There's the "gothic kids" that are just weird. Then there are the "emos" that maybe at one point were gothic, but changed. Black with bright colors. They might do crazy things and dress crazy, but not like the weird gothic kids.
3. SMART, NICE PEOPLE: Some smart nice people are geeks. But some are very popular, IN THE SMART, NICE GROUP. They have sense of humor, dress nice and in style, and are smart and nice. Sometimes in band.

At my high school, at least, the "popular crowd" changed as time went by. Many of the kids who were considered "cool" as freshmen ended up being kinda losers (slutty, in trouble with drugs, etc) by the time they were juniors and seniors. By senior year, the most popular kids were the ones who everyone liked and respected for being nice people, good students, involved in school activities, and for the most part had stayed out of trouble. Those are the people who were voted most popular, homecoming and prom queen/king, etc.

Well there is no one set of popular kids....If kids label themselves as the popular kids then they are stuck up.....
I say whoever you are hanging out with are the popular kids...... everyone is popular with their own group of friends

i agree with yourstruly-- there isn't one "popular" group. there are some very nice, good hearted people that everyone loves, that AREN'T sluts or do drugs or anything like that, that become ery popular. at least, at my school that's how things turned out. of course, there are the nasty sluts and whores that have sex with everybody and are considered "popular", but i think it's rediculous to be popular for something everyone knows is wrong in the first place... but hey, that's just me.

there really is no "popular crowd". you can say it all you want, but everyone`s view of the "popular crowd" is different, because there is no ONE dominating group in highschool.
