Its a real show because remember that Wednesday when they messed up? I was there. That was two seasons ago. They have a stage, the judges, etc. The only thing fake is that Ryan's lines are on the camera and on this black board in the back. The performers lyrics are also there. The contestants lyrics aren't on there. Sanjaya is only there because of votefortheworst.com
That site also supported Kevin (Chicken Little)
My guess is that Sanjaya will be out in 2-4 weeks.

it is a real show because someone i know tried out and made it but the quit because she didnt agree with all their rules and stuff, i dont know. but the only reason why sanjaya or however you spell his name is only on cause their is the website and it get people to vote for the worst person. thats what happened last season.

It's REAL. You're probably thinking like the stupid people who come in for the auditions that can't really sing. Like, sometimes they put people on there for the entertainment factor. A lot of people go into American Idol dressed up because they just want to be on TV. Most people that do though, don't get shown on TV. Also, Ryan Seacrest & Simon always yell at each other, and that's fake. They put on arguments just so people will be entertained. But the singing, is real. :]<33

Its real. The auditions are real, and the people are real. Some things that the judges say- like Simon Cowell according to recent reports are staged, and same with Ryan Seacrest- the host. It is real though

Pretty much what the person below me said.
Real people go on the show to audition to see if they have a true singing talent. And they compete to see who is the best singer basically.
And it is in some ways set-up, like what they wear during performances, or in some cases what songs to sing. But it's all reality other than that.

Real people are auditioned and sing live and are judged by the celebrities and are voted for by real people
