bad lighting

Question Posted Monday January 8 2007, 8:15 pm

I have pale skin, usually. It isn't scary pale, its more like ivory, but when I'm in fluerescent (spelling?) lighting, I look really...sickly? It just doesn't look good. I look like a vampire, and I obviously don't like it. Plus, the entire school has fluerescent lighting, and I definitely don't want to look bad at school. My question is, is there anything I can do (makeup trick, etc) that won't make me look washed out? Thanks =]

I loved opinionated06's answer. Nothing washes you out more than wearing colors that don't suit your skin tone! I have very pale skin too, and hear is what I know: (you don't have to do any of these but if you want these are the right colors)
Make-up- brown mascara, very light brown eye-shadow, peach blush (if you have warm skin) or sugar/baby pink (if you have cool skin), same colors for lip gloss as blush
Clothes: If you have darker hair, wear medium tones, lighter hair, wear medium to light tones.
Warm skin: warmer tones, reds, yellows, oranges etc. cool skin: cooler tones- blues, purples, grays, greens, pinks

Do not wear black. It is one color that does NOT suit light skin.

P.S. If you want to know if you have warm or cool skin:
Cool: Do you blush easily? Does your skin have pinkish tones?
Warm: Is your skin a sort of yellow tone?
Ask a friend or parent what they think.

it really helps to have a light tan. I always use a sunless tanning lotion before I go onstage in a show so that I don't look ghostly against the dark curtains. experiment to see which one works best for you.

Eek! Don't do what the person under me suggested. If you wear foundation darker than your natural skin tone, you'll just look like a pale person who doesn't know how to pick out make-up. :)

You can warm up your skin tone with peachy blushes and light-colored bronzers. Go easy on the bronzer though, nobody looks good with dark brown streaks going across their cheek bones. Also, avoid harsh or dark colored eye and lip make-up that will only make you look paler. Instead, wear brown or charcoal eyeliner/mascara rather than dark black, and a nude or rose pink lipgloss rather than dark-tinted gloss or lipstick.

of course! get a liquid foundation. not too much darker than your skin color but a reasonable color. you will look better for sure!

also, make sure you wash it off before you go to bed. i sometimes forget to do this, and wake up with pimples!!!!!!!!!!! lol

Jergens Natural Glow or Neutrogena self-tanner. It wont turn you orange. They both work well. :] Or use a bronzer in your makeup. Sephora is my favorite store for makeup. And Cargo is my favorite brand for bronzers. Or you can also go to a tanning bed, which is what I do [just know its risky for skin cancer.] Or get a spray tan.

hey there, i'm the exact same way! what i do is put on a very strong sunscreen (nothing is more unattractive than a burned face) and sit outside for about an hour everyday. it's relaxing and gives me a healthy glow!
