My hair is very damaged. I wash, dry, and straighten (with a CHI iron) my hair daily. I've dyed it numerous times professionally, but she didn't dye it right.
When she redyed it to touch it up, she didn't just put color on the roots then on the rest of the hair 15-20 minutes later. She put it all on at once.
I haven't dyed my hair since July and you can see where the damaged hair stops and the healthy hair starts. I know the only way to completely repair damaged hair is to cut it off but I'm looking for a product that will temporarily "fix" my hair and give it a healthy appearance.
You can repair hair without cutting it all off.
Maybe get a trim and try out some products before cutting it.
Maybe don't use your CHI so much. Put your hair up? Your hair needs a break from heat and dye before it gets fried badly and the hair starts to bend on the ends. [ queenhearts's advice column | Ask queenhearts A Question ]
lauralaura answered Tuesday January 9 2007, 2:45 pm: hey!
what colour do you dye your hair? if it is red, reddish brown, brown or black you can buy henna based dyes from health food shops which dye your hair. they varnish the hair so your natural colour shows through and the appearance is natural. also, as no chemicals are used the hair is not dried out. however, do not overuse henna as then you may get problems.
i have naturally mid-brown hair and have dyed it using henna for a year and a half. i use an auburn colour from lush called cacas marron but this (i believe) is not very widely available in the US, but there are some stores. this has butters and other nutrients added to it for even moe incredible shine and health. many people do not believe my hair is dyed at all and think this is my natural colour, unique though it is. i also straighten or curl my hair with ghd irons most days.
also, you can buy henna shampoos which are excellent for your hair. if you can stay away from the chemicals for a while i think this would be the best solution.
opinionated06 answered Monday January 8 2007, 9:24 pm: If you have the money, I would suggest going to your salon for a hot oil hair treatment. It's super relaxing and will strengthen and bring shine back to damaged hair.
If that's not an option, you can buy a deep or leave-in conditioner (Garnier Fructis has a cheap one, and Frederic Fekkai a more expensive one) to use a couple times a week.
Then there's always the do-it-yourself option. There are several methods and "recipes" out there for at home hair treatments, so look around and try a couple if you'd like. Here are some links with several recipes, as well as some for your face and skin: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) [ opinionated06's advice column | Ask opinionated06 A Question ]
sognarxo answered Monday January 8 2007, 8:58 pm: first of all, go get your ends trimmed. this will help it grow better. I found out that SunSilk is really good on my damaged hair. it is the green kind for damaged hair. also condition your hair twice a day! leave it in for about 2 minutes each. next when you straighten you hair get a product that will make you hair not fry up. like shine solution which is from designline. i personally use that and its great. i have the same problem like you. just make sure you keep it conditioned. try not to dye it as much. rachyx0 answered Monday January 8 2007, 8:56 pm: You could try putting mayonnaise in your hair and keeping it in for like 20 minutes. When you straighten your hair spray on a heat protector, they work pretty good. The best thing would be to stop straightening your hair, I'm sure that has something to do with the damaged hair. Theres also shampoos/conditioners for dyed hair to restore it.
Addicted2Life answered Monday January 8 2007, 8:49 pm: i'm not quite sure if this will "fix" your already severely damaged hair, but it will keep your healthy hair heathy and might help out the damaged ends.
grab a thick hydrating conditioner (any kind will do in a pinch) and put several large globs in your hair, comb it through thoroghly and let it sit for...however many minutes you like(at least 15 minutes) then shampoo and condition (in the shower) as normal. you cando this about once a week. even if it doesn't help, it's soooooper relaxing lol [ Addicted2Life's advice column | Ask Addicted2Life A Question ]
