Sima answered Friday January 5 2007, 8:15 pm: I am literally in love with the book Twilight and New Moon [sequel to Twilight]. It's basically about a girl named Bella Swan who is going to live with her dad in a city named Forks. She meets Edward, who turns out to be vampire. She falls in love with him. I don't wanna give too much away. But all of my friends have read it and they LOVE the book. It's really good. Both books are by Stephenie Meyer. I highly recommend both books. bLue_in_tHe_faCe answered Friday January 5 2007, 8:03 pm: "Call of the Wild" is an absoulty amazing book if you like dogs, and its even greater if you love them. It takes place in the Klondike in the late 1800's. About sled dogs and surviving in the wild. This book I absoutly fell inlove with for ever. I was so sad to stop reading it. I strongly reccomend it. Its by Jack London.
"Looking for Alaska" is a great book. I started reading it and finished it in a week. I thought it was amazing. It was about what life means and a girl who this guy thought was amazing. Its mature, and talks some about sex and drugs kind of. Its a great book. Its by John Green.
"Flowers For Alergnon" I hear is great. We are starting to read it in language and my teacher said she loves it and loves reading it to us. Theres also a movie that goes with it called "Charly". I know its about a man who was mentally retarded, then got an opperation and became intelligant. Its by Daniel Keyes.
ductape_n_roses answered Friday January 5 2007, 8:01 pm: I am still in love with the book called "Keeping You A Secret" I've read it at least five times within 6months and I still love it. It's a really moving book about two girls. One is discovering her sexuality while facing the harsh consequences that's coming along with it. It's by Julie Anne Peters, by the way. Others are "Go Ask Alice" by Simon Pulse and "Crank" by Ellen Hopkins...it's a diary of two girls who both get hooked on drugs and the results of it. "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton is a really great book to read.
My favorite author doesn't exist. I love reading books of different genres and I can't ever find an author who writes more than one book that's interesting. Like I love Julie anne Peter's "Keeping You A Secret" but other books by her doesn't interest me that much.
LM answered Friday January 5 2007, 8:00 pm: I don't know what kinds of books you like, if you're a boy or girl, or anything. But I'll list my favories.
Anything by Ray Bradbury. I found Fahrenheit 451 worth reading, but somewhat of a disappointment. I'm currently reading the Martian Chronicles, which is much better. I've also read some Kurt Vonnegut (Cat's Cradle) and Issac Asimov (he wrote I, Robot. Which the movie completely ruined, btw.) Libraries are good for having science fiction books, at least around where I live.
Hmmm. The "Blue is for Nightmares" series by Laurie Faria Stolarz is pretty good, if you like books about Wiccan religion, relationships.. etc.(there's three other books too, but read them in order)
Sarah Dessen is a great writer. All of her books are great. Her first two books were the basis for the movie "How to Deal" but a lot of people don't know that.
Anthony Horowitz is also an incredible writer. Diamond Brother's Mysteries are okay. The Alex Rider Adventures are a about a teenage spy for M16 (British Military Intelligence). "The Gatekeepers" is a little more Harry-Potter ish but still has a great plot/character development.
Which brings me to Harry Potter. If you haven't already, give them a chance. I recommend starting with book three if you get bored easily, then going back and reading the first two after. They'll actually make more sense. Just watch the movies first :)
and just a couple random titles..
- "Scrambled Eggs At Midnight"
- "13 Little Blue Envelopes"
- "A Child Called It" series
Ohhh yes! Scott Westerfeld. Science fiction, but more "modernized". The "Uglies" trilogy is spectacular. [ LM's advice column | Ask LM A Question ]
