my tampon is stuck. like, the string is there but when i pull on it the tampon wont come out. this was my first time using a tampon (i got my period yesterday) and im really scared. i know its a stupid question but i dont know what to do
fabulous11 answered Friday January 5 2007, 8:33 pm: You need to be calm about it and relax. If you have just started your period and its light then the absorbancy you used was probably just to much. Therefore when you try to take it out its gonna bea little hrd. But just relax as much as you can and pull it out slowly. Make sure you dont break it cause then parts will still be stuck in you. If youcant get it out then you need to call the doctor quick!

Simply squat down and insert your thumb and forefinger into your vagina. Sweep the fingers back and forth and try to feel the withdrawal cord or tampon. Once you feel the cord/tampon, grasp it and pull it out.
If for any reason you just cannot remove it, you will need to see a doctor ASAP. Do not leave it in over 8 hrs. because it can cause toxic shock syndrome.
***EDIT
If you will read it says cord/tampon. I tried to write it to be useful to others as well as yourself who may encounter the problem.
Gross as it is you are going to have to touch it.
pulling the string is obviously not working for you...or perhaps I misunderstood. You pull the string, nothing happens. Grab the ___ thing and get it out.
The thing is You HAVE to get it out. I have worked in an ER and you don't want a rotted tampon in there.
cailoisa answered Friday January 5 2007, 8:03 pm: It's probably a bit to dry. A tampon only slides out easily when it is saturated. Next time try a smaller size, and always remember to use the smallest size needed.
For now, take a long soak in a warm bath. This will loosen the tissue in the area and hopefully help to saturate the tampon at least a little bit.
Work at it gently. Try not to just rip it out, or you might damage the sensitive skin it comes in contact with. Attempt several times to remove it while you are in the bath. Relax as much as you can in your bath in order to loosen the muscles that hold it in place. If it's been in place less than eight hours, just leave it until 8 hours is up and try to remove it again. ductape_n_roses answered Friday January 5 2007, 7:54 pm: It's probably because you put a size in that was a tad bit too big for your period. Say you you're having a light period and you put a regular/heavy one assuming you're gonna get a ehavy one. It's probably a little too dry for it to be pulled out.
