Question Posted Tuesday December 26 2006, 11:25 pm

Is it normal for a 12.5 year old in 7th grade that is 5'0 to weigh 104 pounds? P.S. This is not about me, this is actually about my sister because I'm concerned about her. She might not seem overweight, but she looks kind of chubby in the stomach area and such. If so, what are some excercises to lose this babyfat? Thanks!

Additional info, added Wednesday December 27 2006, 4:41 pm:
Most of you have been thinking that I said something to her about her weight-- which I didn't. I was just wondering if she was normal for her age, and I never said anything to her about it.

Your sister is 12 year old-why should she be worried about changing her appearance to suit you? She's a child and other than running, skating and riding bikes or just attending PE everyday in school she should not be involved in any extreme diet or exercise routines. She'll have plenty of time for that as an adult! Unless a doctor has addressed her weight for health related reasons you should leave her alone. I think the problem her is you, not your sister. What are you hiding from in your own life that causes you to project your own insecurity onto her?

First off, who are you to tell your sister if she's fat or not. You know, whatever happened to 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. you're not turning into your sister anytime, soon so you need not worry, let her worry.
People like you force annorexia.

Secondly, it's completley normal. She's 12! Girls that age shouldn't even WORRY about weight.she still has a long time before she stops growing, and 5'0 104 is fine, that's not even fat.

she's still a baby, she's not a teenager yet.
the babyfat will lose itself.

kbai.

that's fine. plus she's still 12 & probably hasn't started or finished going through puberty yet. just give her a few more years and i'll guarentee that she'll be fine. just make sure that you don't bug her about her weight. sometimes that's how eating disorders can rise, when somebody mentions something about a child being a little chubby, and it's all downhill from there. just trying to help. but yea, she's probably fine. =]

That is completely normal. She is in her weight range. Some things she could do to get rid of her baby fat is to do situps/ crunches (that will definitely tone her stomach) Also, going running is overall good for your body, so it will help too. Hope I helped =]

She's in the average range of area for weight. she should weight about 100lbs.

You can take walks with her around the neighborhood, bring her out for laser tag. Do pilates, yoga, go to the gym just for fun but never say "You need to lose some weight" or something up front like that.
