Is it normal for a 12.5 year old in 7th grade that is 5'0 to weigh 104 pounds? P.S. This is not about me, this is actually about my sister because I'm concerned about her. She might not seem overweight, but she looks kind of chubby in the stomach area and such. If so, what are some excercises to lose this babyfat? Thanks!
sandi74 answered Wednesday December 27 2006, 3:34 pm: Your sister is 12 year old-why should she be worried about changing her appearance to suit you? She's a child and other than running, skating and riding bikes or just attending PE everyday in school she should not be involved in any extreme diet or exercise routines. She'll have plenty of time for that as an adult! Unless a doctor has addressed her weight for health related reasons you should leave her alone. I think the problem her is you, not your sister. What are you hiding from in your own life that causes you to project your own insecurity onto her? [ sandi74's advice column | Ask sandi74 A Question ]

People like you force annorexia.
Secondly, it's completley normal. She's 12! Girls that age shouldn't even WORRY about weight.she still has a long time before she stops growing, and 5'0 104 is fine, that's not even fat.
she's still a baby, she's not a teenager yet.
the babyfat will lose itself.
leLovely answered Wednesday December 27 2006, 12:18 am: that's fine. plus she's still 12 & probably hasn't started or finished going through puberty yet. just give her a few more years and i'll guarentee that she'll be fine. just make sure that you don't bug her about her weight. sometimes that's how eating disorders can rise, when somebody mentions something about a child being a little chubby, and it's all downhill from there. just trying to help. but yea, she's probably fine. =] [ leLovely's advice column | Ask leLovely A Question ]
snickerzz11 answered Tuesday December 26 2006, 11:49 pm: That is completely normal. She is in her weight range. Some things she could do to get rid of her baby fat is to do situps/ crunches (that will definitely tone her stomach) Also, going running is overall good for your body, so it will help too. Hope I helped =] [ snickerzz11's advice column | Ask snickerzz11 A Question ]
ductape_n_roses answered Tuesday December 26 2006, 11:41 pm: She's in the average range of area for weight. she should weight about 100lbs.
You can take walks with her around the neighborhood, bring her out for laser tag. Do pilates, yoga, go to the gym just for fun but never say "You need to lose some weight" or something up front like that. [ ductape_n_roses's advice column | Ask ductape_n_roses A Question ]
