Period stops?

Question Posted Tuesday October 31 2006, 6:59 pm

Is there an age where your periods just stop? Like forever? I'm not talking about irregular periods... i'm talking about if you're 70 years old, do you still get your period?

Menopause is your answer. When women get older their body go threw menopause, which is 100% normal, and their peroids stop and they can no longer have childern. Much like regular peroids though, women go threw menopause at different poitns in their life.

There's not exactly a set age, but usually from any age ranging from 40 and up, women go through menopause. It's completly normal, and is supposed to happen. It's when your period stops, and you cannot have children anymore.
Hope this has helped. =D

My mother is 51 and beginning menopause. That is about the typical time frame.
Women also stop getting periods after a hysterectomy (getting the uterus removed, with or without the ovaries) or oopherectomy (getting just the ovaries removed). Those are done if there are problems that require removal, like cancer.

MelLeDisko answered Tuesday October 31 2006, 8:19 pm:
Yes, it does stop at some point. It usually stops for women around some time after they turn 40, but my mother's around 48 and she still has hers, so it can differ from woman to woman. But it's called menopause.

Here's a site:

I hope I helped.

Yes you do stop having them one of these days, usually at any time after you turn 40. Just like when starting your period, the age is different for everyone.

It is called menopause should you want to look for more information. :)
