i want to cut my hair before school and my mom says i can get it cut tomorrow. but im not sure what cut i want. i would like layers or side bangs but i would like to keep the length of my hair. i have long brown hair, here is a picture of me. [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
what do you think would be the best cut with my hair type(thick) hair color(brown) and how i style it. (needs to be cute so i can have it down for school but be able to put it in a bun for ballet.) thanks in advance!!!

Just ask the hairdresser for long layers, not too short so you can pull your hair back. To style it, you should straighten it, scrunch it, or put it up and leave the short layers down.

Also, don't thin out your hair. You have naturally thick hair and if you thin it out, you are going to have pieces friz out like crazy.
I am a dancer, yes ballet too, and I have super thick hair. So, please take this from me.
I wanted to get my hair thined, but my hair dresser refused because of the reason above.
I think layers would look good on you. I don't know about the side bangs though. It depends what shape of face you have for the side bangs to look good. I have an oval shape and I know they won't look good. Google it.

MelLeDisko answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 5:27 pm: Well, I do like the first and second one, but it looks to me that's kind of what you already have in a way. You already have the split down the middle and everything. But I really like the last one on you too, like all the others said. I don't think you'd have to cut your hair that much so it'd stay pretty much the same length, so I'm sure you'd have no trouble pulling it up for ballet, and it's just really cute. I hope I helped. <3 [ MelLeDisko's advice column | Ask MelLeDisko A Question ]

TEENAGExHEARTS answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 3:37 pm: I think that the first two pictures are kinda've like what you already have. if you want side bangs go for it! but then you might not be able to put your hair up for ballet. but i have side bangs and i'm LOVE them to death. i think that they really change the shape of your face. side bangs also help to cover up large forheads (not that i'm saying you have one lol, just in general). i think that having layers is always a good thing, because they can help to thin out your hair a little bit. when getting it cut make sure to tell her that you want long layers so that you can still put your hair all the way up.
oh and if your getting side bangs, make sure that you bring a picture so that the hairdresser knows exactly what you want done. when i got mine done i brought a picture of Ashley Tisdale with me.
