My birthday?

Question Posted Monday August 28 2006, 7:11 pm

Everyone keeps asking me what I want them to get me for my birthday next week. I really don't know what to say. I told them they don't need to buy me anything, but they keep asking! What should I do?

I know it's embarrassing when people try to buy you something but try to look at it from their perspective. They care a lot about you and they want to take this opportunity to spoil you with something you really like. I expect you do the same thing with them when their birthdays come round. The problem is, that if you don't give them any ideas, they'll worry endlessly about getting you something you won't like or don't need.

Try to come up with just a few small items that you would feel comfortable with suggesting to them and it will all be fine.

To prevent this problem in the future, you could try making a list of things that you would like a few weeks before your birthday/Christmas and then, when people ask, you can politely decline offers of gifts if you feel uncomfortable but make a few easy suggestions from your list for persistent friends.

I always just go with the casual "suprise me!" or "you know me, get something you'd think i'd like, or just get me cash or something". But if they still keep asking, just be like "gift cards, a shirt maybe, shoes, uh, CD's, iTUNES gift card, a bath kit [ like with lotion, face mask, creams, etc. ]". I hope I helped. <3

Just ask for like...stuff that you dont really have but you'd use if you had it.
Examples:

- Giftcard

- Jewlery

- Bath Salts

- Candles

- Cd/Dvd/Videogame

- New Pijamas

- Ask for accessories that suit your hobby. If you like to paint ask for brushes, if you like to play the guitar, ask for a new amp etc etc.

- Candy

Dont complain about getting presents. At least you have people who care about you.

say that you don't need anything but if they insist then say cash. that way you can get what ever you want and they dont bother you and feel they've done good

Just come up with a few DVDs or CDs you want.

Or, clothes, jewelry, lotions (I'm guessing you're a girl), etc.

Or simply a gift card to your fav store.
