piercing your cartiledge.. I really want to get my cartiledge peirced. I've asked my mom about it and she said I could get it done, but it hurts like a mother for a long time. (Then again she did it herself when she was 17.) Which one do you think is better to use a shot gun (you can just get done with it), or a needle (this way you won't have all the pain at once, but it will take longer)? I know either way it will hurt but how much? My mom also told me a piece of your cartiledge comes out, is that true? If I do do it then I will go to a real place, not somewhere like Claire's.
Any help is appreciated!

im 13 years old and i got my cartilage done when i was 12. mine didnt hurt (it felt just like a regular earlobe piercing.) it just was sore afterwards for like 3 or 4 days. USE A SHOT GUN! they're faster, and your piercing will be finished before you even realize theyre doing anything. and no, a piece of your cartilage does NOT fall out. im sorry but your mom was lying to you.
good luck!

Good choice on that tattoo parlor
needle-piercing is way better
half of the mess-ups with piercings come from the damn guns.
IT doesn't hurt that bad, but it also depends on your pain-tolerence, make sure to clean it (but not too much) and the pain goes away in about a week. ]
It's illegal to get your cartilage done at somewhere like Claire's. I got mine done at a tattoo parlor, it's the only place that's legal now. Most of the time you have to get a form signed by your mother and a Notary (found at most banks). Plus, the piercing does NOT hurt for a long time. I didnt even feel it when it went through for me. It's definitely not bad at all...dont worry about it. The tattoo parlors use needles, it's the only way to pierce your cartilage. And yes, a bit of your cartilage will come out...but not a lot. When you're looking for a tattoo parlor make sure it's somewhere well known and clean. Ask people around where they got piercings/tattoos and what the best place is to go.
hope this helped,
Brittany.

I reallyy don't recommend getting your cartilige pierced with a gun. You aren't supposed to; but I got my cartilige pierced with a gun & it barelyy hurt. It just had a little bit of pressure. I got it done 3 years ago & I haven't had any problems with it. I guess that using needles are a lot better for piercings.. here's some with some information..

As for where to go, I'm not really sure where you live.. so you could try using a phone book and look for some piercing parlors. If you want a really good one, you could try to see if you know anyone else with their cartilige pierced already and ask where they went and if they recommend it.
If you get anything pierced I'm guessing that only a reallyy tiny piece of skin or cartilige or whatever will come out. But I'm not positive.
Hope I Helped :] ]
DO NOT GET IT DONE WITH A GUN!
The only piercing that is okay to be done with a gun is your ear lobes. You should always get any other piercings done with a needle. I cannot stress this enough. Getting other piercings done with a gun, ESPECIALLY your cartiledge can result in serious infections.
The amount of pain you will feel depends on your personal pain threshold. I have had my nose pierced (with a needle) and found it didn't hurt any more than my lobes, but it could be completely different for you and your cartiledge.
At the end of the day, all piercings involve some amount of pain but it doesn't last forever and as long as you take care of your new piercing then it will heal quickly and infection free.
A tiny piece will come out, but only where the hole is made. A piece has to come out otherwise there will be no hole.
Definitely make sure that you go to a professional and reputable piercing studio and if you feel uncomfortable or don't think it is clean enough then do not hesitate to leave and go elsewhere. ]
i have both mine done. the 1st one i got 9 months ago with a gun at claire's. it didnt hurt, just a little pinch when the gun went through and afterwards i didnt feel a thing. just as long as youre careful not to sleep on it for a while, or if you do just put your hand over your ear so it wont touch directly on your pillow so there wont be any pressure on it. and no, a chunk of cartilage doesnt come out, haha. the second one i did myself with a needle in june. that one hurt. i wouldnt advise doing that. even now its still kinda sore when i mess with it. soo yeah, honestly, the gun is better. as long as you take care of it, it wont get infected. good luck! ]
Although most people get this type of piercing with a gun, it's wise not too, as it carries a greater risk of infection.
Go with the needle if you can, as you know it's been sterilised (autoclaved)
As for the pain, everyone's different!
Yes, the needle will take longer, but it won't come as much as a shock to you as the gun would.
Don't worry about it hurting. It can be a little uncomfortable for some people for the first few days, but other than that, it's fine. ]
She did it herself.. of course it would hurt.
Are you talking about the top part of your ear? That stings for a second [when getting it done with the piercing gun] and then it goes away. It may throb but it's not that kind of pain that would "kill" you. It's obviously sore when you sleep on it.
A piece of it comes out? Haha. Um suree.
Claires or any piercing place in a mall can do it. ]
Well I've never had my cartilage done, but I've had plenty of friends tell me stories. All of them have said it hurts & you will here a popping noise from the needle going through. You should NEVER consider going with a gun. It's very unsafe & the likeliness of an infection or something going wrong is high. Get it done right the first time; there's no way around the pain. You'll feel something - you might as well stick with the safe way. ]
