Death to Strapless Bras

Question Posted Friday August 25 2006, 12:58 am

I've been looking around for homecoming dresses with thicker straps, but I'm having a hard time. They don't have to be really wide, I would just like to be able to wear a regular bra underneath it. Strapless bras are always a pain because you have to keep pulling them up and even with underwire, they hardly support anything. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a dress with thicker straps? Thanks a lot!!! <3

If you can't find a dress with thicker straps go to a frabric store like Joans or something and get a color you would like the straps to be and sew it on. It's quite simple.

Either get a dress with a halter, so you can wear a convertible bra with it.

Or, you can get a spaghetti strap dress and wear a bra with clear straps.

buy a dress that you really like. put on the bra you want to wear with it. go to a tailor. any tailor worth his/her skin can find a coordinating fabric and add straps to any dress. it's a minor minor tailoring. you can also have a dress tailored to have enough support and be really comfortable without a bra. this one is a little more intrusive and difficult. it would probably be more comfortable in the long run, but more expensive.

instead of getting a dress with thicker straps, why not get this type of bra that you get at windsor. [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
the bras stick easily and don't come off. also, you can wear halter dresses with low backs. i've worn these to a dance once and they worked great.

hope i helped

Get a backless strapless bra, they sell them at Sally's beauty supply, and also Dots.

get a dress that ties behind your neck. there are some bras with a strap that goes behind yor neck.

if you still want to look for a dress with thicker straps try looking at macy's, dillards, d.e.b, or a special occasions dress from a place near you. [i always get my dresses from a dress shop]

What i recomend doing is getting a halter top then getting one of those bras that you can make the straps any way you want then get clear straps and cross it behind your neck making it basically invisible/ Chances are you will not find a dress with thicker straps. your best bet is clear straps though
