Do omething exhausting during the day that ends at like 7:00 pm. Then, wait until your bedtime, and you'll be tired.

Set an alrm for when yuo want to wake up, and stick to it. After a day or two, your body will adjust.

What usually worked for me is going to bed at your normal time, then getting up early the next morning, so that you will be tired enough to want to sleep early.

It's because you get up late because your tired that you cant sleep the next night so you've got out of your regular sleep pattern. there are things you can try such as:
* Eating a lettuce sandwich (brown bread) before you go to bed - the digestion of this is supposed to help you sleep.
* Drinking warm milk.
* not eating too close to bed time.
* not eating sugary food close to bed time.
* have a relaxing bath before bed.
* relax and try notto worry about not sleeping.
* Make sure its dark, quiet and cool.
you could even try not sleeping one night so your really tired and fall asleep early the next night or making sure you wake up early so your really tired the next night so you get your sleep pattern back at the right time.
You could also try sleeping pills, i dont recomend some because they're not to be taken all the time but herbal ones are okay as they only use natural ingredients to help you sleep.

Everything that everyone else said was very good...this is what I would do to be able to fall asleep
1. Drink warm milk
2. Take a warm shower or bath
3. Turn of all lights
4. Make sure where you sleep is cool, and use your comforter or a blanket to cover yourself up.
5. Try not to think about anything at all (music doesn't help me fall asleep because it makes me think about things)
6. Do not take ANY naps during the day. Go to bed at a set time (around 10pm) and even if you have trouble falling asleep still, and so are tired in the morning, set your alarm around 8. And make sure you wake up. This will help you get very tired by the time 10pm rolls around.
7. To me, this is the most important one and what worked for me. EXERCISE. I read in the USA Weekend that exercising is a good way to get better sleep. (Which I guess is sort of obvious, but this is the reason why you should exercise: Most people's minds are very tired at night, but if you haven't done anything all day, your body won't be tired. So without exercising, your mind is tired, but your body wants to run around and exercise.)

You can drink warm milk(anykind) that will make you tired. You should close your eyes and count from hundred down to one with nothin else on yuor mind. Shut th T.v off and maybe read a book. Repeat something you want to accomplish in your mind. Even if you cant sleep do not watch t.v or go on the computer just stay in bed woth your eyes closed. Listen to relaxing music and stop thinking find a comfortable position and clear your mind.

You don't have insomnia or sleeping problems, your cycle of sleep is just off. This is very easy to fix. Wake up ealry one day- set your alarm for 7 am (no matter what time you ended up falling asleep the night before). As soon as you get up, fill your day with activity and excercise. You'll be exhausted by 9pm. Keep doing this for a few days and then start settng your alarm for whenever you are most comfortable getting up (maybe 8 or 9). You'll fall asleep at a decent hour every night as long as you don't nap throughout the day.

hi there, i used to have the same problem. what you could try is, going for a nice warm bath with some lavender oils. then you put on some comfortable pyjamas. then you make yourself a nice warm milky drink (hot chocolate is perfect no tea or coffee though)and switch on a lamp or burn a few candle's then just lay in bed reading untill you feel like your falling asleep then switch of your lamp or blow out your candles.you could also play some relaxing music. i read somwhere that warm milk is meant to make you sleepy. also take a look at what you eat and drink before bed. that may have something to do with it. hope it helps

I've suffered from insomnia for years... my problem was that i tried to hard to fall asleep, i would get sooo anxious that i wouldnt be able to relax and fall asleep. Now what you can try is benedryl. Take it about an hr before you wanna fall asleep, and you will sleep like a baby. However you will be a little sluggish in the morning. Another thing you can do is try to trick yourself into falling asleep. Keep telling yourself... "dont fall asleep, dont fall asleep." Or you try to do some activity that requires a lotta energy in the evening like exercising, or something else that makes you tired. It doesn't necessarily have to be physical work, it could be mental.

I have this problem too but i have found a way to ease it.
I turn the tv off atleast an hour before bed, more is better though.
Then i lay down in bed read, i don't like reading but i found a book that i don't mind reading "friends til the end", then when i'm stuggling to read anymore, i turn the light off and try and sleep. It doesn't take as long to fall asleep.
The worst thing you can do is try to sleep when you aren't tired because you just lay awake for hours getting more and more upset and frustrated.
Also, set an alarm so you can get up earlier, you'll have less sleep but eventually you'll be able to go to sleep earlier because your body will be tired from getting up earlier that usual.

Ahh!
I have the same exact problem.
Ill lay there and toss and turn all night.
The best way to be able to fall asleep might be to do something tiring, if you get yourself tired in the middle of the day , then maybe you'll be dying to go to bed by night.
What I do , and this might not the best way to do things , is I either stay up all night and the next night , im tired and it would be easier for me to go to sleep, that usually also continues to make you get tired at night , since your not completly caught up with your sleep.
Honestly, when you hear " read before you go to sleep" or " count sheep" , it probably doesnt work. I have 2 other suggestions.
I sometimes take a tylenol pm, usually thats deffinetly not the best way unless you have pain lol but it works. Another way , is to not think.
Think about random things randomly happening that lets your mind drift off , and you should be able to get atleast 5 cycles of 90 minute sleep cycles including REM [rapid eye movement]

Hope I was a help!
