hi.
i have been suffering from a on and off case of anorexia for about a little over a year now. i know exactly what your going through. it is all in your mind though. anorexia is ussauly caused by a feeling of not being able to controll anything. when anorexia had started for me, i was somewhere i did not want to be, my dads mind was going, i had lost my best friend, everything was messed up. i could not controll any of it. its still hard for me sometimes to even get food into my mouth. this might be hard to do, but i would go to rehab or check yourself into a clinic asap. hope i helped.

There was this anorexic lady on Oprah. Yes, it's hard for people who don't eat and then just start eating again. If you want everyone not to turn their back on you, you have to take some serious actions. Remember your love ones and people you love; do you love life?
Yes? Well, each day, start eating a little more, but not a whole lot. An apple for breakfast. Cheese and crackers for lunch. A half or a whole sanwitch with cheese and turkey or a PB&J sanwitch. Each day, try to eat more food. Some people are just so scared they'll get fat; but don't worry! Eat. Don't exercise for the first week. The first week, start eating more food. The next week, try to add more food like maybe a slice of toast with lightly buttered and some juice. Lunch: anything you choose, but it can't be nothing and it must be a meal (no cheese and crakers) and dinner, a little of meat or a salad.
Start eating a little omre chocolate then 3rd week and eat regulary, try! It'll build up, and you will be back to normal. Then you can work out, and trust me, YOU'LL FELL SO MUCH BETTER!

First of all anorexia is not a disease that is about eating, this is just the way you have decided to have control in your life. Anorexia is not cured by simply resuming your eating habits. You need to deal with the whys of the disease and overcome the issues that have caused it.

Right now your body is sending you messages that are convincing you that your parents, counsellor, nutritionist ect. are all against you and just expect you to be better tom. This is not the case, they are simply very worried about you and your worsening health. Eating again is simply the first step, in a very long process you need to eat now to ensure you don't land in the hospital being force fed. Eat only small things to start with but your body and brain needs some nurishment.

If you want more info, or help let me know.

I completely know where you're coming from, but it's my friends telling me to just eat, not a doctor. And it's not all in your head, and you may not be ready to get over it yet but it will be for the best to try, before it gets worse.

It's really hard to get through this and start eating like a normal person again. I suggest maybe finding a new counselor that specializes with eating disorders.
And try eating large breakfast, and then eat some lunch, eat something between lunch and dinner, and then eat dinner.

good luck! i hope you can beat this :)

For someone who has never been through an ordeal like yours, it often is viewed as a one-step process because as far as they are concerned, you just put the food in your mouth and eat it. It might be that your Consellor is simplifying it in an effort to minimise the discomfort it causes and make the process seem easier to deal with.

However, some people don't appreciate it isn't always that easy.

If you are ill at ease with the way in which your Counsellor is helping you to deal with this, then you need to tell her straight out that you don't feel comfortable moving through it so fast and you would like to take it a little slower. If you think it would be more effective that way, then that is what is important.

Anorexia is a horrible experience for anyone but please try to bear in mind that you CAN beat it. Yes, it's a difficult path to recovery but try not to think about the illness. The problem is, the more you dwell on the problem itself, the more difficult it is to overcome it.

Instead, think about the future. Imagine yourself happily eating a balanced diet, with the odd tasty treat. Imagine yourself at the ideal weight for your height and age and sticking to it. Imagine how good that would feel. Then, whenever you feel yourself feeling down about it, stamp your foot or clap your hands, make some form of sudden movement and sound and quickly replace it with a positive thought. This was a technique taught to me while I was in therapy some time ago and I promise you with practise it really works.

Finally, please be open to the suggestions of your family and friends, the Nutritionist and the Counsellor. I know right now it feels like they're all against you because they're trying to force you into something you don't want to do. It was never going to be easy to overcome but if you trust them, they will help you through it. Tell them how you feel about it all. Open up to them and really put your heart into getting over this, rather than dwelling on the problem at hand.

Good luck. You WILL get better.
