I have the same problem. I am very slim and so I've tried a few times and still it can't get in. My mom bought me slimfits because when I was taking swimming lessons, I was afraid but the water blocks it from bleading...somehow...anyways
I've read that you have to try it in an angle. When I insert mine, it hurts a little but you have to relax and slowly do it. Try each time you have your period.

for my first time i had my mom buy me the slim fits (which are thinner then the average tampon) with the lowest absorbancy. the slim fits are easier to put in and you will feel them less. good luck :]

they don't go in straight....they go in at a slight angle towards your back. if you still can't get it, ask your mom or a friend to help. i know it may be embarassing, but if you want to wear them, especially while swimming during your period, you have to learn to put them in right.

Find the most relaxed position for your body while inserting the tampon. Raising one of your legs on a footstool or on the rim of a toilet makes the process easier.

Steps:
1. Buy tampons that are appropriate to your menstrual flow: light, average or heavy.

2. Wash your hands with soap and hot water.

3. Remove the tampon from the wrapper.

4. Slide the applicator a few inches into the vagina (tampon side in), but not so far that you can't hold the outer of the two tubes that make up the applicator.

5. Push the inner tube into the outer tube, releasing the tampon into the vagina.

6. Slide the applicator out.

7. Make sure the tampon's string remains outside the vagina.

8. Wrap the applicator in toilet paper and throw it away. Do not flush it down the toilet.

Tips:
Buy the lowest absorbency that works for you without leaking.

Insert the tampon gently; don't jam it in.

Wear a minipad or panty liner - not a tampon - during the lightest days of your period.

Tampon packages have directions inside. Read them if you need help.

Use a small amount of petroleum jelly if the tampon does not go in easily.

You shouldn't be able to feel the tampon in your body. If you can, you may not have inserted it far enough. Remove it and try again with a new tampon. Try inserting the applicator a little further into the vagina before pushing the inner tube of the applicator into the outer tube.

Warnings:
Change your tampon every 4 to 8 hours to avoid leakage.

To avoid toxic shock syndrome, do not keep the same tampon in for more than 8 hours.

If you have any questions or concerns, contact a physician or other health care professional before engaging in any activity related to health and diet. This information is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment.

It can be pretty hard the first few times, so I have several tips for you.

Try several positions, like sitting on the toilet, squatting, or standing with one leg up on the toilet (that's how I learned).

This is a silly question, but are you on your period? Dryness can prevent you from inserting your tampon all the way.

What kind of tampon are you using? For beginners, I recommend that kind that has an applicator. Hold it between your thumb and middle finger on the ridged part in the middle and insert it all the way to your fingers. With your index finger, press the end of the tube until it meets your first two fingers. That should do it!

If you need any more advise on this, I'll be glad to help!

remember to relax as much as possible. it's harder to get in when youre tense.

try not to take it out until it is mostly full or it will hurt really bad.
