ok for some reason whenever i sign onto my aim screenname, it says someone else is also on it. I always kick the other user off, but I just want to know how to stop this from happening. DO NOT say to change my password because ive already changed it 3 times in the past 2 days. Its not working. Thanks ♥
xwishonstarsx answered Saturday August 12 2006, 5:36 pm: Alright, I just wanted to reassure you that it's almost definitely not someone getting into your screenname and using it. So, DON'T change your screenname just because of that.
The problem is that you probably do not sign off before restarting or shutting down your computer.
Or, sometimes when your computer freezes, and you have to End Program, or whatever, you are not signing off. Or, sometimes you may get kicked offline (if you have dial-up) or your computer may shut off (perhaps because of thunderstorms) and again, you are not able to sign off.
Mackenzie answered Saturday August 12 2006, 3:15 pm: I have no idea why that is happening, but it is happening to me, as well. I think it is merely a glitch. I've changed my password numerous times in the last few days, also. I know this doesn't really answer your question, but I figure you'd appreciate knowing that you are not the only one in this boat. I was. I haven't been able to find any help anywhere on the internet, so I just take it as it is and move on. I don't think it is an attack of any sort, though. I figure that the biggest problem we will face is whether or not we remember our new passwords. =P [ Mackenzie's advice column | Ask Mackenzie A Question ]
XkittyOkatX answered Saturday August 12 2006, 2:56 pm: Your screen name is most likely linked to someone elses, that would explain the changing your password.
Check with your friends, adn see if any of them have linked your screen name without telling you, or if you forgot.
uisforukelele answered Saturday August 12 2006, 2:43 pm: if you use your screenname on two different computers, then that might be why, though i doubt it. your screenname could be linked to somebody else's screenname, so when they sign on it signs you on too. if you know for sure it's not, then i don't know what to tell you except get a new screenname. i think you should ask any of your friends if they have your password or have ever logged into your screenname though. fabulous11 answered Saturday August 12 2006, 1:09 pm: is your screen name linked to someone elses?
(if you dont know what that is then its probably not.)
if it keeps happening just get a new screen name. that will be the only thing to solve it. [ fabulous11's advice column | Ask fabulous11 A Question ]
courtxrawr answered Saturday August 12 2006, 1:07 pm: Hmm. The problem seems to keep happening to you.
If I was in your case, I would just create a new screen name, to block this from happening again! :]
