Question Posted Monday July 17 2006, 9:10 pm

Okay I am 15 and I am very devout, although I'm catholic I follow the belifs in general of Chritianity. I have had a connection with God. This year it was on and off all the time. In may I went to Quebec and Saw the Basillica of Saint Anne de Beaupre(people claim its were heaven and earth meat) and upon entering the church, I felt something and upon entering the main part of the church I felt something and I felt a strong connection to god. Since tyhen the connection is lost. I feel empty now unless in a sancutary. Do any of you (christians only please) know how I can streghten my connection with god>

Hey!

To strengthen your connection with God, serve God. Since you are Catholic, get involved in your parish community. Also, go to Appalachia over the summer months to serve the poor, work at a soup kitchen, tutor children at the local school. You will find this work totally rewarding because you will be acting as "God's Hands". Remember, complement your service with prayer and Mass.

Good Luck!

But I will tell you what we have to do, my bretheran and sisters, we must:

A. ...fear God in our hearts,
B. ...lay aside our covetousness and our waywardness,
C. ...lay aside our self-will and foolishness of every kind,
D. ...humble ourselves before the Lord,
E. ...repenting of our sins,
F. ...preserve our bodies and spirits pure, that we may be fit receptables for the spirit of the living God,
G. ...be guided by him in all our labors both for the living and the dead,
H. ...our desires must be for God and his righteousness.

I as well am 15, but i was brought up in a christian home. I believe that God is trying to win over your heart. Try talking to him (praying) He is with you wherever you go, you don't just have to be in church, or in a church program. I talk to him while i am getting ready to go to bed, I sing his prases all day long, i even sing and talk to him in the shower. I made up my own crazy song while i was mowing the yard. i hope this helps if you have any more questions please email me helpfulhints09@yahoo.com

Faith isn't about fuzzy feelings. Does that happen? You bet it does, but if those feelings aren't there, that doesn't mean God has left. If you have faith in Jesus, knowing Him as Lord and Savior of your life, you have a connection with God whether you are in a sanctuary or not. That faith in Jesus is the connection not the feelings. How do I know that? It says in the Bible:

John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Faith is taking God at His word no matter how we FEEL.

Jesus said in Matthew 7:24-25: "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock."

I know taking God at His word is easier said than done. That's because we have an enemy of our souls that constantly tries to get us off track.

At some point in the past, the devil placed a thought in your mind to doubt that God is near you. Then you chose to believe the devil's lie. I know this because the devil does this to ALL believers. I'm willing to bet the lie spoken in your thoughts went something like this....."You don't have to read your bible today." or maybe... "Are you sure you have a connection with God?" or maybe even this one... "Since you can't FEEL God, He must not be there." The list of deceptive thoughts the devil uses can go on and on. When the devil throws one of those lies at you, resist it and chose to take God at His word. The Bible says:

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

That doesn't mean the devil won't come back and try again. When he does, just resist him again. The devil can't stand it when we read the Bible and pray. So read God's word...out loud is best, and pray. Remember, praying is a conversation with God. By all means tell Him your cares and concerns, but also be still and listen. Feelings come and go, but you can always count on Jesus because He never changes:

Hebrews 13:8 "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."

well,i'm not a catholic,so i really don't know what half the stuff you just said was,but i am a christian, and you just need to refresh your relationship with God.
God is always going to be there, and sometimes we take advantage of that.
try to have a down point each day where you just sit and talk to God.
when you feel yourself shying away from him,
just have a nice long prayer.
it may also help to keep a prayer notebook that you can use like a journal.
good luck& God bless.
i hope i helped.

Sometimes I feel like I'm seperated from God, too. Try reading scripture everday, or at least a bible verse. Connect with God, write in a diary and tell Him about your day. Pray to Him that your connection between him will get better. He listens to everything we have to say. Go to church as much as you can and hear his word.

Just talk with God. Talk about your fears, problems, and troubles, and ask Him for help and support. Talk to Him about feeling disconnected from Him and ask Him to guide you along the right path. Pray to God whenever and wherever-- it doesn't have to be in church. The Bible is also a great source of connection towards God.

Honey, I can tell you as much as you want about getting close to God, but only you can truly make the connection with Him. The relationship between you and God is just that -- between you and God -- and nobody else can tell you what to do.
