Hi, I'm going to high school this year and I want to make a splash. I have changed a lot over the summer to more of a fun-loving and more confident person. I just got a great haircut, but I want some advice on clothes that I can wear that aren't too expensive and are modest (also, any ideas of stores that have good clothes, but not too expensive). I'm 15/f, blue eyes, blonde hair (shoulder length and layered) I am 5'3 and I weigh 105 pounds, so I have a thin frame. Any advice would be great!

Well, I'm entering the same boat with you because I'm also entering highschool this year, so I know where you're coming from :). It's totally awesome that you have become a more confident and fun-loving person and that you have a new haircut on top of that. Now it's time for a new wardrobe to go with the change. Stores that I would suggest would have to be Forever 21, H&M, and American Eagle just because their styles are great and they sell them at affordable prices which I LOVE! They sell both casual and formal/dressy attire, so either way you want to go then that's great. Or, you could mix up both styles which is really cool as well...that's what I do. Some great outfits would be a t-shirt, a nice-fitted jean, a headband, and flats. Or, you could wear a white, button-down collared shirt with a black belt around the center of your stomach, black slacks/dress pants, and a low heel or flat white shoe. It's up to you, or again, you could do both. In case you want to see the stores' clothes for yourself, here are the websites:
Forever 21 www.forever21.com
H&M www.hm.com
American Eagle www.ae.com

They only have the most stylish/"in" clothing, so it's definitely a great place to shop. If that doesn't work, you can try thrift stores and retail shops. Usually thrift stores won't have anything but if they have some jeans you can cut holes in that will be a great project. Retail shops always have "in" clothes. Search google for your area, look in the newspaper, and ask friends where they're getting their clothes this year.

Hollister answered Sunday July 16 2006, 9:14 pm: I am about the same as you, and the places I shop at are Abercrombie or Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, and American Eagle. You can sometimes get good deals from them on sale. Aeropostale maybe? Umm Anchor Blue, Forever 21, Charlotte Russe..:] [ Hollister's advice column | Ask Hollister A Question ]
Teza answered Sunday July 16 2006, 9:13 pm: I pretty much agree with everything other columists said. Forever 21 has great clothes, accesories & not too expensive. Same with Charlotee Russe, Aeropostale and so on. When you go shopping for new clothes, have a budget so you don't spend tons of money. Have at least 100 dollars and try to find as many things as you need for that amount of money so you don't go over board. You can find bargins and not to seem cheap or anything, but look if they have clearences and sales. Another thing you should do, find pieces of clothing that you can mix in match to make tons of outfits. It will save you money and look cute. Also, department stores are good for back to school shopping. =) [ Teza's advice column | Ask Teza A Question ]
advicer answered Sunday July 16 2006, 8:03 pm: I just went shopping at Kohls for school, and I bought about 5 tops and 2 pants and spent like $77. So, kohls is a good store and it's cheap. Also, DEB is pretty good, or like Sears or JCPenny. Or if you're into Abercombie and all that, but those are really expensive. hope i helped =) [ advicer's advice column | Ask advicer A Question ]
