I_am_Neo answered Wednesday July 12 2006, 6:03 pm: When I was younger, I was the same way. I tried goth but that just isn't me. It's just a time in your life and hard rock is awesome. So don't feel bad about yourslef be who you want to be. I was always the rocker and badass but you can be whatever it is you want. Don;t pay attention to the others they want to suck you in. If you feel comfortable in goth then go goth. If you enjoy prep be a prep. Or, you can try 'there' a little thing my friends and i made up. It's basically your mood reflection. I did that and it works out good. Sometimes you may get made fun of but I made it into a joke and I would go along with it. Never bothered me I don't know about you but do whatever you want, noones going to stop you. Remember that. [ I_am_Neo's advice column | Ask I_am_Neo A Question ]

xxsima answered Monday July 10 2006, 12:29 pm: People change. Labels are lame. Don't use them. You are your own person. If people label you, tell them to shut up. Your friends should be the ones sticking by your side no matter how you label yourself or how you dress, or what type of music you listen to. If you have different attitudes, and different styles, then why do you have to categorize yourself like that? What would you want to call yourself a preppy-goth-punk or something?
You have moods, you're not a robot. Everyone has moods. That's life. If your friends can't learn to accept you, get new ones, people who care about you and want to be around you.
xosweetiepiexo answered Monday July 10 2006, 10:49 am: well in my opinion, labels are terrible because when your put into a category of just one type of style, then people expect you to be like that type of style. I don't understand why we can't just be a little mixture of everything, after all, through out our teenage years, we're trying to find who we really are, which is probably just what your doing.
When you go out shopping, don't think of what type of style you want to buy. go into all different stores and pick out clothes that you like and that you think are cute, don't base it on what you want to be.
You can't choose your moods, its just whatever you feel, however you have the ability to control them.
Everyones afraid what others think of them because they don't know who they are yet. I certainly don't know who i am, and i'm sure many other teenagers don't know who they are either, they're just trying to find themselves. So don't worry, you're not the only one who is going through this.
everyone says that you shouldn't care what others think of you, but let's face it, everyone cares what others think in some way or another. We're only human, and we can't be perfect.
Maybe if you have low confidence or self esteem, you could try and build your confidence, that way you might have some sense of who you really are.
Lola answered Monday July 10 2006, 10:01 am: Hey,
i know what your going through, and i understand all those changes that are happening to you.
Every person likes to change his lifestyle and the way he acts and be a different person every now and then, and sometimes he actually impresses other people with this change, but somepeople cross the line, and its like they wake up every day as totally new people, thats why others start to back away, and they just think" what a weird person" , and no offense but i think your just in the same situation, and if you keep on changing like that, people would not want to be your friend, and they wouldn't want to be anywhere around you and they'd think your weird. But you are a really nice and sweet person, so why don't you take advantage of that and show that side of yours.
If you treat people nice, and help them and be friendly and make friends with everyone and just be really sweet and stuff, than all people would really like you and want to be friends with you.
On the other hand, wearing pink clothes and listening to green day, is not really nice and neither is it cool nor punk nor goth nor could it make you feel better than anyone or popular or anything. So without asking for advice, which would you choose to be? [ Lola's advice column | Ask Lola A Question ]
Jayde answered Monday July 10 2006, 9:55 am: haha this isn't a brilliant answer, but i used to be exactly the same, one day i was obsessed with Justin Timberlake, and feeling all confused because at the same i discovered Kurt Cobain and Marilyn Manson, so i experimented with dying my hair black (yes, it did look horrible on me) and dressed in black and was classed as a goth, to be honest i needed to do that to get it out of my system and experiment, and to found out where i feel most comfortable with myself. now i still listen to the same music i listen to three years ago which is mainly metal but dress how i want to, normally it's jeans and a t-shirt Don't worry about what other people or whether you think they will think your hair will look bad black.Or dont feel like you have to "belong" into a certain group such as "emo" or "goth". because they really are pathetic.
Sorry this doesn't really have a solution, but i wanted to let you know i felt the same.
take care x [ Jayde's advice column | Ask Jayde A Question ]
DefinedEyes answered Monday July 10 2006, 9:31 am: Okay labels are so stupid.
Be who you are, you can be quiet on the inside and your fashion can speak for itself.
You can color your hair whatever you like, you can wear what you want.
Seriously dont label it though.
Just be who youare, theres nothing wrong with you,
dont change to fit other molds or labels,
just be you.
Because being "goth, prep, punk," etc.. those labels, that isnt you, your just pretending to be someone else, and its not working so thats why you keep changing. [ DefinedEyes's advice column | Ask DefinedEyes A Question ]
