Question Posted Monday July 10 2006, 12:01 am

Some people say that money isn't everything. But is this really true? If a person makes minimum wage and can barely afford food, can that person still be happy?

Yes. If that person has someone that loves him/her then he/she would be happy. Everyone needs love in their life to be happy and you can't buy love.

Well it`s kind of like you don`t need money to be happy. Of course you need money to survive but some people think money is everything. And they think money can buy happyness but that`s not true so it really depends on the person.

It depends how you personally feel about everything. Virtually everyone has at least a speck of materialiastic need in them, so for almost everyone having no money will stop you being happy. There are a few people who can be happy though. If you're on minimum wage you're in a good situation compared to some people (e.g. 3rd World countries) so yes you can be happy. But you have to be content with what you can get :) it's not easy, but its possible

have you ever heard of maslow's hierarchy of needs? it's a very interesting and popular theory about what people need to have before they can become happy, or in maslow's terms, self-actualized. the very bootom of the pyramid, or the most important thing that you need to start out with, are physiological needs. food, water, clothes. so, according to this theory, once the person has covered these needs, then they can go on with trying to achieve self-actualization. for more info, check out [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

those are just one guy's ideas, and i'm not saying they're 100% true, but it makes sence that you can't go on with self-actualization, or becoming content with who you are and where you are, until you don't have to spend every minute of your time worrying what you're going to eat tonight and how you're going to buy that winter jacket for your kids. but you don't have to be rich. you know, someone said that you're not rich if you have a lot, but you are rich if you feel you have enough. different people have different understandings of what's enough.

Hey,
when people say that money isn't everything, they usually say that to rich people who have alot and alot money, and because they do, then they think that they are better than the other people who have little money. But actually, they may be rich, and living in luxury and are considered from the high class people, but they will never be happy like those who have a suitable amount of money, because they are usually sent to jail, and waste their money on drugs and alcohol and girls.

Money isnt everything to an extent. The reason is because everyone needs it to live and without it you basically cant get anything. Somebody that has tons of money, and no friends isnt happy. But,somebody that has little money and has friends, they are probably more happy.

It just depends on the situation youre in. Money cannot buy happiness, maybe at the beggining, but not in the long run.
