People tell me I have a reasonabley good voice but I want to make it really good. What exercises can I do to make it stronger cos at the moment I hit a high note and my voice sort of totally disappears. It's real weird!
You should always have good posture. Attain this by bending over to touch your toes and rolling yourself up and your shoulders back.
Practice sightreading. If you don't know what that is, it's reading music that you've never seen before and singing it. It helps to make you sing on pitch.
Also, I suggest learning a little about music theory so that you always know what is going on in the peice. Is there a crescendo? Mezzo di voce? A ritardando at the end? What is the tempo? If you can't answer these questions, a brush-up on music theory is in order.
Get a straw. Sit up straight, and have your feet on the floor-one slightly in front of the other. Try to do this in front of a mirror. Place the sraw in your mouth, and breathe in through the straw. Your back should widen as you breathe in, but your chest should not rise very much at all.
Say "sqeelo" (skweeloh) with an italian accent on one note and then move up and up until you hit the top of your range.
Sing, " Bumble bee-ee bumble bee-ee bumble bee-ee bumble-bee." Play this on the piano, starting on middle C, and play CE DF EG FA GB AC BD C. Play the notes similar to that pattern coming back down the scale.
Go to the higher part of your range and sing, " Ee-ooh-ee-ooh-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee," legato, full voice.
I highly recommend the book Singing for Dummies available at Borders and at Barnes and Noble. It comes with a CD that is really great with warm-ups, which are always good to practice.

Also you could be going tho a voice change. Just don't press on your voice and do not force any notes that you don't have. hoped i helped [ xx_nickelbackbabi_xx's advice column | Ask xx_nickelbackbabi_xx A Question ]
XlovelyladyO25 answered Wednesday July 12 2006, 12:03 am: just do lots of different warm ups, and go up the scale as far as possible, if you keep doing that, you'll be able to hit that high note without it dissapearing, its just cus your voice is not trained to be that high yet, but you can definatly hit it good with time and practice [ XlovelyladyO25's advice column | Ask XlovelyladyO25 A Question ]

And once you go the highest you can, sing "i like double bubble gum" as high as you can go.
Helpful answered Sunday July 9 2006, 6:38 pm: You know how when you are yawning, something opens up in the back of your throat? That is your soft palette, and you can lift it on purpose to get a clearer sound. Also, sometimes people think "I can't hit that note because it's high" so they don't hit it even though they can. Relax your throat and let the note come out. Don't squeeze your throat or you will get a strangled sound. Slide up and down between low and high notes. Sometimes you will find that you sing that note without any trouble at all. Hope I helped! [ Helpful's advice column | Ask Helpful A Question ]
girdy_goo15 answered Sunday July 9 2006, 1:59 pm: ok well first of all you need to have confidence, these are someways to get that.
* work on scales everyday, going higher than you
usually go and lower than you usually go. this
will make your range larger so it is more
comfortable to sing higher and lower.
* sing in the shower.lol. it does help
* drink alot of water and try and stay away from
caffine, this will help clear your voice.
* when you are getting ready to hit a high note
take a huge breath of air, and just push the
note over! give it all you've got, and don't
be shy!
hope this helped, if you need anything just let me know.

miz_babi_liz55 answered Sunday July 9 2006, 1:16 pm: if your voice isnt naturally high your not going to be able to hit those notes without alot of practice. but at the same time make sure you dont practice too much because this can damage your voice. make sure that when you sing you use your diaphragm(its a muscle located in the bottom portion of your stomach area. when you breathe out/sing, try to push the air out of your lungs from their instead of your chest. this will ensure a louder voice and the ability to hold notes longer. You could also practice scales, or even use a piano to help guide your voice, by pressing the keys one at a time going up and trying to sing along with it. try to project your voice as you do this, but dont scream out the notes, as that wont help you or the people who happen to be nearby. Whatever you do, takeit easy and dont overwork your vocal cords as this could lead to serious problems later. i hope i helped =] [ miz_babi_liz55's advice column | Ask miz_babi_liz55 A Question ]
lilly_pads79 answered Sunday July 9 2006, 1:05 pm: I go up by thirds in practice and it helps me to hit the high notes when I'm actually singing. Going up by thirds is like this. Do, mi, re, fa, mi, so, fa, la, so, ti, la, do, ti, re, do. Also it could just mean that you are not a soprano. Hope for the best!
