Ok. For around two weeks EVERY night I've been having bad dreams. And it sucks.
It'll either be a new dream, a dream I've had before, or a combination of a couple dreams.
I've had this one for 3 nights in a row, seriously. I walk into a room, and look in this mirror. And there is this half-dead ten-ish year old girl with a bloody KNIFE standing behind me. But when I look behind me she's not there, she's only in the mirror. Then there is this other one where I get put into a coffin and I'm buried alive.
So...
Would there be a reason that this is happening ??
What can I do ? I HATE it....
orphans answered Friday July 7 2006, 12:41 pm: This could be happening because you first had the dream and got freaked out by it, and then it keeps coming back because your thinking about it when you go to sleep. I've heard about this happening to people, weather its nightmares or just silly dreams. Try watching something funny before you go to bed, or doing anything to get your mind off of it. That always helps me. Try releiving your stress. It will go away soon. Let me know. Good luck :) [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
DefinedEyes answered Thursday July 6 2006, 10:43 pm: It could be your subconcious on what your scared of, like a lot of people have fears of being murdered or stabbed, or burried alive.
but I'm also so so sorry your having these haunted nightmares, I hate them. They scare the living daylights out of me. So I feel your pain.
And you have my sympathy.
The only other reasons I think this could be happening is your imagination is running wild? And your still thinking whenyou go to sleep, try to clear your mind before you go to bed.
Or try thinking about what the girl and knife and coffin all mean to you, if they all connect to something thats happened inyour life, or mean anything?
DangerousDrix answered Thursday July 6 2006, 12:08 am: What does the "half-dead ten-ish year old girl"
mean to you. It could symbolize something thats happened/ing in your life. What are your own thoughts of being buried alive? Anything that is
bothering you right now that feels like a burden?? Sometimes when you dream of being buried alive there are things in your life that are being blocked/pushed down. [ DangerousDrix's advice column | Ask DangerousDrix A Question ]
girdy_goo15 answered Tuesday July 4 2006, 6:59 pm: ok well i think that either you watch too many scary movies, or there is something stressful in your life. this may sound corny but dreamcatchers always helped me. and also do you drink caffine before you go to bed, watch tv, read, or eat? this could also be a problem. but if you get a dreamcatcher i think it will help.
and if you don't know what a dreamcatcher is, it is what the ancient inidans believed took away the bad dreams they had. the bad dreams would get caught in the web in the middle and the good dreams would pass through. [ girdy_goo15's advice column | Ask girdy_goo15 A Question ]
xostarbrightbaby answered Tuesday July 4 2006, 6:42 pm: See I get dreams like that, where i see caskets and dead people. If i watch a scary movie before I go to bed I get nightmares, or think about scary things. If you have alot of bad things on your mind you`ll get them. Try calming yourself, listen to relaxing music (country or christian works good), watch funny movies before you go to bed, take baths or walks, and try other things that you find relaxing. You can look in a bookstore for a dreamers book, they tell you what you`re dreams mean and what can be causing them. Oh and i`ve heard sleeping in a cold room or eating before you go to bed will cause bad dreams, so try to prevent that. I don`t know if your religious, but try praying before you go to bed and you`ll feel safe. Hope this helps. ♥ [ xostarbrightbaby's advice column | Ask xostarbrightbaby A Question ]
isis answered Tuesday July 4 2006, 5:58 pm: There could be several reasons for the dreams.
Have you been watching horror films?
Are you feeling quite stressed at the moment?
Have you suffered a trauma recently?
Has something happened to make you more aware of your own mortality, like a death in the family or a pet?
If it's due to horror films, stop watching them. If it's stress, you need to learn some stress management, eg, relaxation, having some fun, talking your problems out to someone who will take you seriously etc.
If you have suffered a trauma the same thing applies, talk to someone.
If it's your own mortality, the fact that everything has a life span, this is more difficult to deal with. It's something most people have to face and accept at some point in their lives, usually around the early teens. You have to trust in whatever faith you have and learn to live as productive a life as you can, so that when your time comes, and it's probably not going to be for a very long time yet, you can look back on your life with satisfaction of having done your best.
This may be of little comfort at your age, but in years to come it becomes more important.
The nightmares will go, try to relax before you go to bed, listen to calming music, read something light and fun, have a relaxing bath. These things should help to calm you down so that you can have a more restful nights sleep.
Hope that helps and you are able to sleep properly really soon. [ isis's advice column | Ask isis A Question ]
xxsima answered Tuesday July 4 2006, 3:34 pm: Well, first off, don't watch scary movies for awhile. I always get nightmares because of them. xD. Try taking a bath and calming yourself before you go to bed. Turn on a light in your closet, in the hall, or a lamp and put it on the floor, so you're not in complete darkness.
MHScutie87 answered Tuesday July 4 2006, 3:07 pm: Nightmares can happen for different reasons. You may be eating unusual foods late at night or you may be under a lot of stress. These things cause your body and mind to be off-balance. You could try playing some soft music while you sleep, or you could buy a CD with a variety of peaceful sounds (like a waterfall, etc). Try calming yourself down before you fall asleep also- think of something wonderful, like a fun vacation or your friends.
Helpful answered Tuesday July 4 2006, 3:04 pm: No more horror movies for you. I had this problem and I asked my friend for advice. She says that when a dream gets scary, she shuts her eyes as tight as she can then opens them. Then she's awake. Sometimes I sing a song in my head before I sleep. Or you can pray that you won't get scared. Sometimes if it's too hot in your room, it can cause nightmares. Ask yourself, 'Why am I scared of these things? They are dreams. What effect can they have on me in the real world?' Hope I helped. [ Helpful's advice column | Ask Helpful A Question ]
