im having the same situation right now, except opposite (im the girl, i broke up with my bf cause i wanted to be best friends like we used to be) and yes, my bf has tried to get back together with me. the break up has been hard for me too, but i think i made the right choice because i need to see what else is out there. he broke up with you so he must have a lot of good reasons for it too, so you should accept it and let things be. if he realizes he made a mistake he'll probably talk to you about it, but if not you should try to move on and eventually find someone even better.
